My interest was piqued when the train went through the cutting at Stirling North then under the railway where the concrete was looking rather new. I looked at google maps and saw that previously there were rails between Racecourse and North Roads, Streetview shows rails in North Rd west of the triangle.

The tourist railway made it's way back to Stirling North and was extended into Port Augusta around 2001 with the help of the concrete underpass enabling the track to cross under the Leigh Creek standard gauge line. 👍😀

Travelling on the PichiRichi is the best way to experience the scenic route from Quorn to Port Augusta in the heart of the Flinders Ranger's.

What happened to all the houses, and why does the railcar sound funny?🤔
Seriously though, thanks for a great video. We are so fortunate to have this beauty from WA over here in SA.😁

@1:28:46 there is a mile peg 254 1/4. The numbering is getting larger the further west the train has travelled, where was the 0 peg for this line?
I look longingly at all of the "Fowler Brothers" pattern insulators as the train travels along and think that one of these would look good nest to the 3 of this type I currently have. The Savannahlander stopped east of Almaden for me and I picked one up on the Mole Creek Branch in Tasmania.
I will be keeping my eyes peeled when we are in SA and NT later this year.

I'm not sure where the 0 post is located. Keep an eye out for those insulators, you might find some good specimens laying around. 👍😀

These trains really go at a crawl don't they?

As the old saying goes, you don't know the half of it... or maybe you do. Anyway, many years ago I took the old narrow gauge trip to Alice Springs. Crawled for three days and two nights.
