Corey Burton and the animators did a great job at making me like Dooku. He always looked and sounded so sad and in the end and you realise that he was a good man with good intentions, was somewhat of a grey jedi like Qui Gon and like the grassroots separatists and Anakin he was corrupted by Palpatine. You could also tell, even when he raised the blade and brought it down, that he really didn't want to kill Yaddle. 10/10 need more Jedi Dooku.
@@John316_Acts2 Qui-Gon actually was a grey Jedi! Canonically, "grey" is a mildly pejorative term applied to Jedi who chafe against the Code and have ideological differences with the Order. I share your opinion that capital-g Grey Jedi, the kind who use both sides of the Force, don't and can't exist, but the term was introduced in a sourcebook meaning something different and specifically applying it to Qui-Gon.
I loved how brief that Ahsoka vs Inquisitor fight was. A few dodges (without moving her feet), turning off his sabers w/ the Force, the quick disarming, and then kick/slash he's dead. He fucked around & quickly found out.
What I like is that the planet that Ahsoka is farming on in episode 6 appears to be the same planet from episode 2 many years later, apparently having recovered a lot from when Dooku was there. The Droid that stacks up bales that's heavily damaged in episode 2 is the same Droid that's happily working on episode 6, the bales are the same the cart is the same.
I try not to get worked up about lore changes, but the Ahsoka novel is a fav, so this made me sad. Changing the Bale Organa part was one thing, but I wanted to see Kaeden
I think Dooku's fall to the dark side could be the focus of a pre-prequel trilogy of films. It'd be great to see him as Yoda's padawan in the beginning, then as we move on we see him training Qui Gon and eventually finding his new master, Palpatine.
The animation quality of Tales of the Jedi is top-notch. Ahsoka is my favorite character in Star Wars so I really loved her 3 episodes. Hopefully they make a season 2 and maybe give us Tales of the Sith. 🤞
I liked that the Inquisitor at the end was something of a darker version of Plo Koon (even with the same voice actor). Was kind of a nice “full circle” moment.
I love that Filoni saw Visions and decided to make some shorts of his own, although I wish they included some characters and stories from the original and sequel trilogies too
You know what I love about Tales of the Jedi? That Dooku says to the senator that the Jedi serve the people of the republic. That’s how all Jedi should be. Be there to protect people when they need them them most.
I didn’t take the ending of the second Dooku short as him being upset that he was passed over for a seat on the council. I viewed it as Dooku seeing corruption at work. Mace the rule follower, doing what’s best for the system rather than the people, and getting a promotion for it.
I loved the Dooku arc! But on an aesthetic animation point, I loved seeing the new character models for Obi-Wan and Anakin, and how the animation felt more cinematic in general in terms of lighting and the close ups they could do.
This short made me realize something about the Jedi. They forbid attachment, but they've become too attached to their rules. The Jedi rules were created to help the galaxy's people, but these Jedi would rather follow the rules completely literally than help people in need. It probably created a feedback loop of flanderization. Only the most extreme and literal interpretations of the Jedi rules survived over generations
Loved Tales of the Jedi, especially the Dooku arc. The episode, The Sith Lord, truly ended his arc for the Clone Wars beautifully. If there are any more seasons to come, I think it would be wonderful if we saw one episode, at the most, that shows events prior to the Clone Wars though told through Sifo-Dyas’s point of view. I would have loved to seen Dooku’s interaction with him since we learn once he deletes Kamino, Sifo’s already dead.
I still need to watch the last two Ashoka shirts but I wish this entire project was Dooku focused. Corey Burton killed it and I would have liked to see more of the gap between The Choice and The Sith Lord.
I just noticed Ahsoka's shoto color in the Tales of the Jedi. Its minor and they changed the color of Tera Sinube's blade too but its still weird. Ahsoka's shoto is a yellowish green color but here its the same green as her primary blade.
Ashokas outfits aren’t from the clone wars. each outfit is different than the ones she has in the clone wars aside from her beskar plate outfit which is mostly the same
Q&A question Who would you most like to see in a tales of the jedi season 2 Also do you think Waxxer, Boil or any other members of the 212th could be in Bad Batch S2
The Lore Masters legends video about Yaddle made me like her and Bryce Dallas Howard just made me like her even more. Yaddle was a true jedi till the very end.
I love seeing Obi-Wan with the mullet, I just wish that it was during a different point in the timeline where it made more sense. I get it, they just wanted to do it, and we're supposed to pretend that the Season 1-3 models from Clone Wars are supposed to be more what we saw here, but I can also believe that we lost 3 or 4 months inbetween Hunt for Ziro and Heroes on Both Sides just so that Obi-Wan and Anakin can grow their hair out and Ahsoka have a growth spurt that demands clothing that's a bit more appropriate than the tube top. I get more frustrated with the character models in that short than I should, and I acknowledge that it's a silly thing to get upset about. But what would make more sense is if Obi-Wan looked like that when he was walking through the Jedi Temple with Yoda, seeing Ahsoka train, and then deciding that she would be a good student for Anakin. Thematically it would still work since it's all about how Anakin's training saved her when the traditional methods didn't for everyone else. They see that she's good against some training remotes, maybe a bit gungho to do more as a Jedi, agree she'd be a good Padawan for Anakin, title card, and then you have it play out with where we started with Anakin being late to her test, but with the corresponding models that work for the timeline. It's the shortest of the shorts, we can add a bit more at the beginning, and we'd get to see something that was only implied, like how we got to see Dooku erase Kamino from the Jedi Archives. We don't know when the Archives were tampered with, now we do. We don't know what made Obi-Wan and Yoda choose Ahsoka, we just know that it was implied they made this decision behind Anakin's back.
I loved all the episodes of Tales of the Jedi. The Dooku episodes were fantastic and the Ahsoka ones hit hard. One of the best things it does is give new context and meaning to all 3 prequel films and just make them more enjoyable than they already were. I will never watch The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones OR Revenge of the Sith the same way again. I love the irony that it was Anakin, the one who will lead Order 66, that ultimately helped Ahsoka survive it by pitting her against Rex and the Clones in training. That was my favourite of the Ahsoka episodes. I love the fact that when Ahsoka finally perfects the training, it's Rex's shots that surprise and take her down. That works so well with how they both react to Order 66. Ahsoka can't imagine Rex turning on her and in a way she's right and that was demonstrated so effectively. Seeing Padmé's funeral again was painful and seeing Ahsoka in the crowd as well as Bail and Mon Mothma. Again, I will never watch that scene the same way knowing that they were all there. And we already knew Bail and Mon were there but *seeing* them was just so emotional. Also, Ahsoka's father calling her "Little 'Soka" just like Plo Koon nicknames her when they become friends years later, damn it, Dave! I LOVED everything with Dooku. Even just seeing his signature curved lightsaber with a beautiful blue blade was awesome and I loved his outfit too. It felt very Jedi but also very Dooku because I've always felt like he's had his own style. They really nailed young Dooku in this series. I loved seeing his interactions with Qui-Gon as master and apprentice and how much it paralleled with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, then Obi-Wan and Anakin and Anakin and Ahsoka, the whole lineage. I empathised with Dooku a lot in the situations he found himself in and understood his character more. He was already one of my favourite villains but this show just added so much to him. While I don't blame the Jedi as they face intense political pressure in situations, I also don't blame him at all for feeling frustrated or for choking that Senator in defense of the people in his first episode. It all lands firmly with the corrupt Senators. It was so interesting to explore that and they struck the perfect balance in their portrayal of the Jedi, something I feel Star Wars has missed a bit in recent years and how they show the Jedi being. I would happily welcome more content surrounding Dooku in this era. Seeing Yaddle was so awesome. Bryce Dallas Howard did a fantastic job playing her and the voice was perfect. It was such a surprising casting but one that was just perfect. It was so fun actually hear her speaking and in correct syntax unlike Yoda (although I have my headcanons and theories as to why). And her duel with Dooku was so cool and everything about their interactions was fantastic. In Episode 4, I loved when she tells him she resigned from the Council because of what happened with Qui-Gon. That fact that Yaddle resigned from the Jedi Council after the Battle of Naboo to take a less active role in Jedi affairs was true from a source book to explain her absence from Attack of the Clones and replacement by Shaak Ti but *now* the fact is solidified and we learn that she resigned because Qui-Gon died and because the majority of the Council refused to believe that the Sith could have returned, which is just heart wrenching. It got me so emotional as did her final moments. I am kinda disappointed that she was killed off as soon as she got some spotlight, especially since there were previous hints she survived until the time of the Clone Wars at least. I and many others took her stepping down from the Council was something of a hint that she was still alive and I'm still heartbroken that's been taken away and there were other hints as well like a mention of her in Jedi Fallen Order. I was hoping for her to make it honestly. I think I prefer her death in Legends but this still made for a gutpunching story. Once she saw Dooku meeting with Sidious, I knew where it was going. I was rooting for her survival even though I knew it was impossible. I definitely want to know what happened afterwards. I also love little subtle hints and ways that the episodes work with other stories like Dooku: Jedi Lost. We see Dooku stand beside Tera Sinube in episode 3, Tera was Dooku's caretaker when he was a youngling so seeing that just felt nice, even though I doubt it was intended to be anything more than just including a recognizable character because I also loved just seeing Tera again. Still not over how they did him in Obi-Wan Kenobi though. I like that Dooku's status regarding the Jedi Order is kept ambiguous for anyone who doesn't read the novels but the way other Jedi interact with him, it's still implied that he isn't a member of the Order if you know he's already left. That's a really good balance to have. I also just like that Dooku was allowed to visit whenever he wanted and remained on good terms with everyone for a time after he left. It adds this additional tragic element to his eventual turn into Darth Tyrannus.
This series brought out a load of Filoni and Ahsoka haters, kind of found it astounding. Filoni is the author and creator of Ahsoka, he should be able tell Ahsokas story as he deems fit. Canon worshippers are scary man
