The original FF3 on the NES didn't have any designed protagonists, just 4 Onion Knights lol. Luneth and gang didn't come until later for the FF3 remake on DS.
Originally all four kids were orphaned and lived in Ur. They had no set names.
I don't remember him being so annoying in the last two games...
