      Hand lean hi! Thanks for commenting again! No takeaway will use oyster sauce as its to expensive, msg is used instead to get that flavour. If it had oyster sauce in theyd put it on the menu as its a huge selling point, but for home cooking id add a lot more spices. 😊😊

    • @HansClean
      @HansClean 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks good to know, I am getting some msg on Sunday and will start to use it in my efforts to get the authentic taste. You and your mum know your stuff as the massive batch of sweet and sour sauce I have made attests too. It is actually better than a lot of my local takeaways own versions. Thanks again for the great videos, I am telling my friends and work colleagues about them whenever they ask how I make my Chinese dishes!

  • @davidcarroll2035

    I agree on the keep going bit. You have a winner here with the site. Personally I think this version lets the taste of the ingredients shine more than adding oyster sauce. Maybe a takeaway using lower grade chicken uses the oyster to make up for what’s lacking in the meat! Just a thought?
    X as always keep trucking you two. Oh and Mum better keep her virtual skipping going, eats like that and still slim ??. Not fair I’ve only got to think spareribs and I gain two pound. Lol

    Hi Ziang. I have a couple of recipe requests.
    The deep fried chicken/prawn balls.

    Thanks for another great video. Ive noticed shaoxing wine all seems to come in those square bottles with red label so it seems like they are all trying to copy each other. Is the one you showed the "original"? I never know which shaoxing to buy!

    • @ZiangsFoodWorkshop
      @ZiangsFoodWorkshop  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrCurry there are 2 that are excatly the same at first glance, one is far better and you cant tell the difference unless your supplier is honest. So frustrating. Might do a video on that too

    • @PVflying
      @PVflying 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ziang's Oriential Food Workshop thanks for that lightning quick response! I've bought shaoxing wine in Tesco and Chinese supermarkets in Manchester Chinatown and never seem to get the same brand twice. Just checked in the cupboard and the one I have right now is Taijang, same as you showed in the video. Love it in chicken and black bean sauce which I make again and again. Recipe came from a Leicester Chinese takeaway chef who posted on the curry-recipes.co.uk forum.

    Another great recipe for me to try out. I was just looking for this because my local takeaway's chicken and mushroom is lovely (I don't even like mushroom!) and I'd love to see how to make it for myself without spending £5 each time.

    Excellent channel! Sub'd! Too many silent videos in this area of cooking, your approach is spot on. My local Chinese Takeaway has a dish called "Beef Peking" - it's a sort of crispy beef thing and it's awesome, could you add that to your list?! The other places I've had that dish it's totally different. There's only one video on YT where it even vaguely resembles what my local takeaway serves. I could eat it all day!

    • @ZiangsFoodWorkshop
      @ZiangsFoodWorkshop  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrSDSTRIKEBREAKER yeah ill try but anything with "peaking" or "hong kong" etc is very much down to the place, no one knows each others recipes, its not a thing except in chinese takeaways so its really difficult to know how your local tastes. I can do the best one ive had before, but again i apologie in advance if its not the same. 😊😊😊 and thanks for the awesome comment 😊😊😊

    • @--SD--
      @--SD-- 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome! Shall I give them a call and ask for the recipe?! Ha :) Whatever you want to do is fine. I've had it in some places and it's more like slices of beef (like you'd get in beef/mushroom etc) but the local one's version isn't slices, it's more like crispy but not a dry dish. Whenever you have the time and inclination - I'll be watching!

    Another good and easy recipe their guy's, going to try this one, my local Chinese T/A does do it with oyster sauce, so this one will make a change. In my time on youtube (which is a long time.lol) I have seen many Chinese and Indian T/A start up on here. and disappear within 2 or 3 months, lets hope that you guy's ain't one of them. (must be the secret T/A police) So maybe your mum was right to not want to do it. The only British/Chinese chef still going is Khoan Vongs 510, as far as I know, So hope you and your mum keep going, and the best of luck.

      @@ZiangsFoodWorkshop I like them that way. Flash fried with garlic and a bit of salt. Chicken and beef are good with it too

    Be honest this is your personal taste to use MSG because most people don't use it because of its effect on the brain and the body, ( I.E.headaches cramps and serious pains in the digestive system ) 🎄🙂😷

      all myths about msg have been debunked by Morden science, it’s the most researched ingredient on the planet and has been found to be safer than salt, fat and sugar, to the point that there are now psychological studies on why people still believe the myths of msg even though the scientific and medical community all say it’s safe. Unlike you I studied this at uni :)

      If you think that then you must have reaction’s every single day because your body produces MSG it’s also in pretty much everything like meat, fish, wheat produce, corn, tea, veg, some fruit, dairy produce and lots more… it’s made from fermented sugar cane a natural source. Go do some actual research will you!
