I don't see anything wrong with any of their rules. Sounds like the rules are there, they're well worded and taught to employees upon hiring, they don't discriminate, and if you can't or won't comply, you don't have to work there.
OMG! These rules have been around for more than 40 years. They are standard practices. It just goes to show Dunkin’ Donuts doesn’t slack on the rules. It’s all for the sake of the customer. It’s not anti-employee it is a pro customer. Short nails no polish nothing can fall into food or drink. Excess of jewelry can get caught up in any one of their pieces of equipment that they have in their store and cause injury to the employee including long necklaces. Tattoos can have offensive meanings so it’s best to just keep them put away because you have to make the rule for everyone and not be selective. As far as make up they want the product to shine and not have the attention taken away by someone overly made up. also as far as wearing socks go you want your feet as protected as possible and you want any odors absorbed. This goes from most every restaurant who cares. It has been established over 50 years.
this isnt true at my dunkin actually we’re doing a lot better financially since i started working there like we make so much more tips, i wear heavy makeup, i got a nose ring that i always keep it because my holes close super fast (genetics sadly cause this), i got tattoos and i mean literal job ending tattoos like knuckles and shit but its all hearts, no offensive messaging whatsoever. people find me attractive so they tip ALOT when i’m on, and the managers usually have me at the front or drive thru for that reason
"No workplace romance allowed" Yea no kidding, I don't want special sauce on my glazed doughnuts! Nevermind having a relationship fail and having 2 or more employees having noticeable issues from a tiff at home
Something to note is that uniforms vary greatly depending on the store. My store you can wear Dunkin’ quarter zips or a grey polo, dark blue or black jeans, and the Dunkin hat and apron
100% this - Dunkin is obsessed with drive-thru times & openly states that walk-in customers are, 'a non-priority' McDonald's is the same way. People should take their business to local coffee shops because fuck Dunkin & Starbucks both 🖕
Currently 2023 work at Dunkin in Florida and I can tell u now some of these rules here are funny the makeup nails jewelry etc I seen it all I wear/dress like this with no problems or complaints the managers dress like this ...
I worked at one in Orlando when i was about 18. My manager would give me a joint to stay until 5am ( making my shift about 16 hours). I'd go to class in the morning stoned, drunk and on no sleep. Not that unusual I guess for a college student and at least I had plenty of coffee to drink. Idk how I feel about it. The owner's wife was a sweetheart and I had to leave early a couple nights a week for night classes and whatever I was gonna buy- a soda, a bagel whatever she always told me to just take it.
Mmh a lot of these rules vary Dunkin to Dunkin cuz every owner is different. For example my Dunkin is ok with acrylic nails but we are required to always have gloves on and have to wash our hands often, with gloves on and off. I change my nails every couple weeks and I have never been told I couldn’t wear them
What I find interesting about DD is that they come up with a new breakfast thing, a new coffee, or a new sandwich almost every month. How do they get the instructions to all their stores and their staff to make all these things in a consistent manner? Do they have them all watch a video of how to make it and then how do they re-program all the checkout registers for the new items.
I’ll answer this they have a poster with the stuff for that quarter or time for the new items and everyone learns it all the ingredients etc are lists on there
18 mins my ass, it's 90 mins - if that. The standard DD BUNN brewer lights go from blue (OK) @ 0-75 mins, then yellow @ 75-89 mins, then red @ 90+ mins but a lot of the brewer lights are broken so some stores don't even dump their coffee.
There's only one rule that i don't like at Dunkin... They charge for a Cup of Water (which is ridiculous, but same time it make sense because of the cost of the cups) Most of my employees doesn't care about the rules, things are unorganized, and just don't care when I'm the one who basically had to label boxes, organize the stockings, and make a Macchiato into a pitcher Everybody stirs their macchiato into a cup with ice, alot of bad complaints about the macchiato, but the employees doesn't tend to care
Your representing a brand of course they don't want you to look unbecoming. It's not professional and safety questions arise with nail polish and such. I'm pierced but always took off at work. Nothing wrong there.
I worked for Dunkin in the late 90s and early 00s...Some of these rules must be newer cause I don't remember them,, and the Employee relationship one is a joke. Back then the Manager was the Owners' Wife. And everybody got with everybody
Shit, I worked for 7-11 back in the early '90s and their rule on coffee was to shit can it after an hour. I worked graveyard and there was not a big rush for a cup of Joe so I left it till just before the morning rush to make. I hate waste.
I worked at Dunkin’ Donuts it was dumb we had to get on her hands and knees and scrub out the drains and we had to constantly be cleaning whenever we weren’t serving

also the coffee taste so wrong like it,s gone bad that,s why i would not want to get a job there
At the dunkin I work at we can't wear watches but my watch is a medical device which measures my heart rate so I'm allowed to wear my watch. We have to mark down our employee free meals and drinks. We are allowed medium or small drinks
Is this outdated because the location I work at it’s black shoes, black pants or black jeans, our shirts aren’t white also we can wear the Dunkin jackets over our other work shirts if we’re cold. We’re also allowed to have piercings, tattoos, bright and even holiday themed makeup, colored hair and nails. I guess it’s different per location.
So basically, they follow standard OSHA rules and requirements that are standard for literally EVERY. SINGLE. RESTAURANT. in the entire country. How scandalous. And they have a uniform requirement. No black pants. You can only wear khakis or jeans. Wait. You can wear jeans as a restaurant employee? Oh you poor Dunkin’ employees. How. Do. You. Preserve. Through. The. Day. Know who makes videos like this and asks things like “do any of these seem too strict?”? Entitled little kids who mommy and daddy have paid for practically everything in their lives, have never worked in a restaurant (or any actual truly laborious job before), and think they’ve “stumbled upon a great injustice that those MONSTERS at Dunkin’ have dared to perpetrate!” because they don’t have the first clue as to what ACTUAL WORK looks like. They don’t even know the government-issued rules regarding it. Seriously. You are not intelligent people.
The nails thing is obviously in place to prevent unsanitary things from happening. For example a nail chipping off into someones food or a drink. Fancy nails isn't needed for someone to do a good job at Dunkin'.
I think its also the fact thqt w most of the dunkin tasks, you need your actual nails to work more efficently, they can easily break working in fast food n ppl probablt dont wanna send ppl w bloody nails home 😭😭
They pay top dollar? Imagine that they lucky to get whatever workers willing to show up everyday so doubt their policies not tightly enforced in most stores
These rules are pretty basic Nothing that is over the top Working in fast food there are a lot of these guidelines for a reason Don't like it don't work there They are a New England staple and have been around for a long time serving up coffee and donuts
Anyone that thinks many of these rules ‘ridiculous’… Congrats. You’ve never owned nor operated a business. And you’re also mighty naive to believe that a majority of people think the same as you, or think that any career position does not require adherence to dress or appearance codes.
Most Dunkin franchises are in rural or suburban Republican areas where most tattoos are considered gang related unless they are military or work related. Earrings are not considered work appropriate in most work settings and some Americans use them as a gang signifier especially on men.
Do any of these rules seem too strict?
The No black pants rules is idiotic and nonsensical. Every restaurant and fast food job I’ve ever worked at, I had to wear black pants.
I don't see anything wrong with any of their rules. Sounds like the rules are there, they're well worded and taught to employees upon hiring, they don't discriminate, and if you can't or won't comply, you don't have to work there.

Rule 1: IGNORE customers in store. Don’t even acknowledge them. Only serve drive-thru customers as they are the only ones that matter.
this is the reason im scared to go inside 😭
100% this - Dunkin is obsessed with drive-thru times & openly states that walk-in customers are, 'a non-priority' McDonald's is the same way. People should take their business to local coffee shops because fuck Dunkin & Starbucks both 🖕
Well duh
They’re priority That’s why that’s an actual rule
Lol
Some of the policy’s are so out of date
For the 18 mins time , It actually changed because we have a new Brewers. 18 minutes are now 90 mins
Currently 2023 work at Dunkin in Florida and I can tell u now some of these rules here are funny the makeup nails jewelry etc I seen it all I wear/dress like this with no problems or complaints the managers dress like this ...

we have a site where they send us out videos everytime something new comes out with a tutorial on how to make it! 😁
We get sent a flyer explaining new items, also a sandwich station recipe page for new food items, and training videos as well.
I’ll answer this they have a poster with the stuff for that quarter or time for the new items and everyone learns it all the ingredients etc are lists on there
There are rules at ever job, sometimes employees need to be in on who they feel about the rules.

These are all outdated. And the whole Sandwich Station thing, Not a reward at all. A new person on sandwiches during a rush is a sure path to pain.
Yup, lots of burns - I've seen it
Sounds like a handbook against zombie zoomers from stinking up the ioint
😂

I live in Illinois They do not have these rules!!! I know many people at different locations.
Agreed except the location

At my store dark blue jeans, grey polo, visor, closed toed shoes, and hair up were required and our first 6 hours of training was all online
I worked at Dunkin for like 2 months before I quit. My manager had long ass nails lmao. It was fancy nails.
Shit, I worked for 7-11 back in the early '90s and their rule on coffee was to shit can it after an hour. I worked graveyard and there was not a big rush for a cup of Joe so I left it till just before the morning rush to make. I hate waste.

also the coffee taste so wrong like it,s gone bad that,s why i would not want to get a job there
At my location we had replenished the coffee like all the time, but fun fact, the coffee machines are rarely ever clean
At the dunkin I work at we can't wear watches but my watch is a medical device which measures my heart rate so I'm allowed to wear my watch. We have to mark down our employee free meals and drinks. We are allowed medium or small drinks

Do dutch bros
I work for Dunkin, and 99.9% of our rules are for a reason…
The nails thing is obviously in place to prevent unsanitary things from happening. For example a nail chipping off into someones food or a drink. Fancy nails isn't needed for someone to do a good job at Dunkin'.
Meanwhile, the drug addict making your sandwich probably jerked off into the cream cheese
I think its also the fact thqt w most of the dunkin tasks, you need your actual nails to work more efficently, they can easily break working in fast food n ppl probablt dont wanna send ppl w bloody nails home 😭😭
And none of them actually follow these policy
Lots of these seem to be normal corporate policy. Especially the one about turning the media to talk to corporate.
This whole video was a waste of time. Typical TH-cam clickbait.
I just got a job there nd i got face tattoos. This info needs to be yupdated
Wtf theres a man with Face tattoos at my local Dunk.
They pay top dollar?
Imagine that they lucky to get whatever workers willing to show up everyday so doubt their policies not tightly enforced in most stores
The "falling for a coworker" thing at Dunkin sounds like a lot of bullshit!
These rules are pretty basic
Nothing that is over the top
Working in fast food there are a lot of these guidelines for a reason
Don't like it don't work there
They are a New England staple and have been around for a long time serving up coffee and donuts
They aren’t even valid that’s what’s hilarious
The donuts have gotten smaller and more expensive over the years
and the coffee taste so wrong like it,s gone bad
Wow! Do you think DD is a cult?
Anyone that thinks many of these rules ‘ridiculous’…
Congrats. You’ve never owned nor operated a business.
And you’re also mighty naive to believe that a majority of people think the same as you, or think that any career position does not require adherence to dress or appearance codes.
I wear black sweatpants to work every day so that rule is bullshit (I work at dunkin)
Seems to me the rules are reasonable. No one ever got drafted to work at Dunkin'. If you don't like the rules, it's time to walk, not whine.
I hate these and similar vids labeled with "forced". Nobody is forced in a national brand company.
Outdated
