I was raised by a single parent who was an alcoholic so at age 14 my freshman and sophomore years in highs high school I worked at a local bakery six days a week from 5pm to 9pm. I washed dishes, moped floors and greased the bread pans. It was just me and a radio 4 hours a night and I never missed a night because the job meant I could buy decent clothes and food. This was back in 1973 and 1974. Hard times but I made it. And hate alcohol to this day for all the misery it caused in my life.
I started working between 7th and 8th grade to support myself in the 80s. I have never touched alcohol and never will. I hope life has been good to you since childhood.
I’ve applied for a job at this place about six times over the past two years and keep getting turned down. I’m starting to think my 415 pound weight might have something to do with it.

I wonder how often the oil gets changed. I also wonder if any bugs accidentally dies in that oil . How does a machine sense a foreign object… how long does production stop in order to clean that oil machine, to replace with new cooking oil

My goodness, what a labour intensive job. I would never have considered the amount of machinery, physical labour and time it takes. I have seen small street vendors, making doughnuts while you wait and that was pretty fast. Thanks for the insight.

Sometimes I would make the donuts all night and then sell them the next morning for a double shift. I still love donuts. I know many of the tricks in the trade.

They sell them donuts at most of the gas stations here in las vegas. I like a place called Real Donuts on Cheyenne here in Vegas better. They have a better taste then the mass produced ones.
I miss the days when Carl's Donuts were at Alta and MLK and the public could go in and buy a bag of day old donuts, a coffee, and a newspaper and sit in their seating area next to the fireplace and enjoy the morning. They can't take those memories from us, and it's great they are still making a quality product and are available.

Health violations. But the shop is warned ahead of time before any inspections. Also, when an inspection is scheduled, employees without green cards call in sick that day. I know, I worked for a union bakery on the west coast that was a hundred times larger than this. And yes, we had to wear nets on hair ,and over beards.
And the guy who is wearing his mask below his nose which is pointless and ineffective the management needs to tell staff to wear them properly and if you don't comply with that direction you are fired. No way would buy from this company with the current hygiene standards.

I worked at a donut shop over 20 years ago. My absolute favorite was fresh from the friar, just glazed, still warm apple fritter!

So many how it’s made videos seem to give me that same impression. I think it’s partially because of the vast quantities often being produced.
This place is lucky because a regular donut shop the employees do everything with no machines.

The enterances are doulble entry with electic bug zappers so no bugs enter the area. Also there are mouse traps by the entrances, about four of them.
