Man, I miss this event... Definitely my overall favorite. Unique domain designs, introspective and personal to even 4-Star characters as equal to 5-stars, clever character dynamics and interactions... And no NPC's around hogging 90% of the spotlight on arrival.
NPCs hogging 90% of the spotlight is such a drag with Veluriyam Mirage. Was looking forward to more personal character stories and background; at most, we got a tiny glimpse into more Lawrence clan stuff regarding Eula, and a nod towards Kaeya's sometimes sketchy behavior. But first Golden Apple Archipelago was pretty light, too. Perhaps if they run Veluriyam Mirage again at the end of 4.0s, we'll see something akin to 2.8's Golden Apple Archipelago.

I still see it as a breath of fresh air given the time though... It was right before Inazuma, so aside from Dragonspine it was an entirely new area to explain, our first peak at some things we'll see in Inazuma like certain items and the Maguu Kenki, our first taste of new outfits for characters like Barbara and Jean, and a refreshing vacation vibe seeing everyone gradually pop up and enjoy their Summer. Veluriyam Mirage left me feeling kind of jaded at the end of it all, but I know we'll get something great to explore next time.
What an epic journey! I also did the Geo trick but with Zhongli since I don't keep Aether on the team. It's so convenient. Although it is definitely easier with Aether since he can do multiple Starfell Swords. I had to scramble each time Zhongli's pillar ran out. But the coolest part of this mini-series with Traveler-san was seeing the out of bounds. It's always been intriguing to see how the levels are built up and what most players don't really see happening behind the scenes. I was already super impressed with Mona's Domain design and the kinds of unique puzzles Mihoyo made for it. But I'm even more impressed knowing now how grand of a scale it was for all of the pieces to work. Also I agree with you on this stuff getting a permanent release. It's a shame we won't be able to check out Fischl's castle and that main room of Mona's Domain. It was all very pretty. I think it's the first time I've gone out of my way just to record additional footage of a Domain just to have a record of it. Aside from that though I'm wondering if Mihoyo purposely designed Mona's house with the wrong set up to imply this is her Fontaine home because otherwise the layout doesn't match her house in Mondstadt. If that's the case it was pretty clever easter egging and I wonder in the case that it is her Fontaine house if we'll be revisiting it once that region becomes available. Can't wait to see what you come up with for Sumeru. They said we'd get there via Chasm. I always thought we might also be able to glide into the desert portion via Mt. Hulao. So let's see which route Traveler-san will take haha.
It's a shame that major events are limited, but I guess I understand it from the perspective of keeping the game's size manageable for mobile devices. I hope these episodes let you experience some of the fun!
okay so I HAVE to say this in vain of the comment never being seen... the whole 'last monument you hit becomes the first in the sequence thing' is only an issue because traveler applies enough pyro so that when all monuments reset, the last one you touch is re lit again. it's not meant to be a feature, in fact you can see this with other characters too. Ninngguang who shoots multiple geo rocks can have this situation where the monument resets and she immediately activates it again with more rocks; c1 Amber too, with her double arrow charge shot. This isn't an intended feature and yes you will face this situation again in the future, so long as there isn't a cooldown on activating these monuments!
Makes sense. I probably wouldn't have believed it if that last torch puzzle had stayed lit, but there being even one outlier leans me in the direction of what you're saying here. Man is it frustrating!
Only a few more days until we know for certain. Well, might find out in the patch notes, whenever those drop. Honestly, it's surprising they've not mentioned requirements for the region. Maybe that's a sign there aren't any, except for the story parts.
For the monuments that don't reset correctly, are you sure that holding down anemo elemental skill isnt instantly relighting the monument on extinguishing?
oh GAA wasnt the only place to have monuments like this, trust me. ive gone through the struggle of dealing with these stupid torches not resetting the last hit one, meaning getting it wrong once makes me do the puzzle 3 times at least

Didn't want to risk messing it up. Had a few mishaps with the hilichurl vanishing back to its original location, and there's a chance that would have happened in there. If it did, I'd be stuck without Pyro and would have to redo the whole puzzle.
You might have made yourself work too hard in Kazuha's combat domain. If you open the menu while in combat, I think the food menu works, the cooldown of the special skill actually still counts down, so you could have just Za Warudo'd all the enemies in record time.

Yeah, I'm never a fan of being forced to use other characters, even on my main account. They usually have random artifacts that don't play to their strengths, and it's weird. Would be nice if they always let us have our first-slot party member, since the party can have up to five characters in special circumstances.
Next week: "Say hello to Traveller-San** who spend hours logging in and out to break the Paimon barrier just so he can shine green in the first Venti cutscene" No, but honestly, I am really looking forward to some Traveller-San shenanigans in Sumeru. he would have dendro at that rate, since sumeru is unlocked along with travelers dendro abilities, it would just be annoying to switch between dendro and anemo so often if you needed to swirl anything

Looking at the map it seems like you can just walk into sumeru, but who knows. MHY kinda wants to steer new players onto the right path, so maybe there will be some kind of barrier.
@@TheVergile i couldnt imagine any barrier being in place, it wouldnt be viable. with the lore, inazuma makes sense as its a closed nation AND it practically makes sense since its an island nation. sumeru is connected to liyue over a large area, and for lore reasons has no reason to keep them out. how would they practically be able to make a barrier? like they did at first with liyue? or like stormterrors lair? its much too large of an area for a stormterror-esque barrier, and if its like liyues, we already know how to get around that, especially since the statue is so close to the chasm entrance to sumeru no matter what happens, we know how to get dendro within the first day easily, even if its quest blocked

I always wanted to share this thought (well, since 2.8). It's obvious that GAA was a preparation for Sumeru, so there were obviously a lot of tricks that I expected to see in Sumeru, like peculiar riddles or invisible walls. So, you can guess my excitement when I saw transparent pyramid in the Desert, just like invisible floors on Mona's island!

I play on PC and use a PS5 controller. When I stream, I run the game through Steam so I can further customize my controller. And Steam always makes Genshin show Xbox buttons, no matter the controller. Also, my PS5 controller is currently suffering stick drift, so I've been using Steam a lot more so that I can set deadzones, as Genshin doesn't support those natively.
Saving them for a potential future sword with a crazy exploration mechanic. One that'll let the Traveler do something they currently cannot. Examples of ones already in the game (that I thankfully have) would be Sacrificial Sword and Skyrider Sword.
I think I know why the pyro puzzles don't reset correctly. By holding Traveler's E, you can swirl the elements he's inflicted with. But it has two phases. After swirling the element, Traveler holds it for a bit before releasing it. During the Hold phase, the swirled element can already do damage and affect things around you. Conclusion: You stood very close to the monuments, enough for it to be activated during the Hold phase. The puzzle then reset correctly, but you activated the same monument again, by releasing the E. That's why it seemed like it didn't reset correctly. I used to have the same problem with Xiangling's Guoba, now I just use other pyro characters for puzzles
Ironically enough, I only managed to do the invisible platform puzzles on Mona's island because of geo traveler. Being able to aim the contruct and go off of visual cues with Starfell Sword felt like the island was made for geo traveler.
12:18 phenomenal work on finding a way out of that puzzle. I was actually thinking of you and I wondered how would you do the timer puzzle and the elemental monuments in Mona's domain Also had you levelled up traveller, the traveller would possibly kill their own source of elements so i feel you can stay put until the game totally requires you to level up
And here I was thinking my traveler usage was good… this is Lorelike, Godlike, Amazing in all senses !!! And to put the cherry on top… it’s not a level 90 traveler… I feel ashamed of myself 😭

I see you are playing on Xbox, but on 6:26 you use PS5, how is that possible?
I play on PC and use a PS5 controller. When I stream, I run the game through Steam so I can further customize my controller. And Steam always makes Genshin show Xbox buttons, no matter the controller.
Also, my PS5 controller is currently suffering stick drift, so I've been using Steam a lot more so that I can set deadzones, as Genshin doesn't support those natively.
I struggled with the domains with a full team and you only did it with Traveler. Mad Respect!

Saving them for a potential future sword with a crazy exploration mechanic. One that'll let the Traveler do something they currently cannot. Examples of ones already in the game (that I thankfully have) would be Sacrificial Sword and Skyrider Sword.

I think I know why the pyro puzzles don't reset correctly.
By holding Traveler's E, you can swirl the elements he's inflicted with. But it has two phases. After swirling the element, Traveler holds it for a bit before releasing it. During the Hold phase, the swirled element can already do damage and affect things around you.
Conclusion: You stood very close to the monuments, enough for it to be activated during the Hold phase. The puzzle then reset correctly, but you activated the same monument again, by releasing the E. That's why it seemed like it didn't reset correctly.
I used to have the same problem with Xiangling's Guoba, now I just use other pyro characters for puzzles
Ironically enough, I only managed to do the invisible platform puzzles on Mona's island because of geo traveler. Being able to aim the contruct and go off of visual cues with Starfell Sword felt like the island was made for geo traveler.

12:18 phenomenal work on finding a way out of that puzzle. I was actually thinking of you and I wondered how would you do the timer puzzle and the elemental monuments in Mona's domain
Also had you levelled up traveller, the traveller would possibly kill their own source of elements so i feel you can stay put until the game totally requires you to level up
And here I was thinking my traveler usage was good… this is Lorelike, Godlike, Amazing in all senses !!!
And to put the cherry on top… it’s not a level 90 traveler… I feel ashamed of myself 😭
