    The is beautiful! how did you make the new door knob work? the old knob had a trigger to keep the door secure and the new handle seams to be just a handle. How do you keep the new door closed with no trigger to hold the door secure?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      One option is a door latch but you could also use a heavy duty magnetic catch. Our door actually stays closed so we chose to just leave it as is.

    Very nice result 👍 but I'm left wondering what it looks like from the side after adding close to 1/2", doesn't it sit proud of the door jamb?

    • @tomspallone1868
      @tomspallone1868 ปีที่แล้ว

      You’d HAVE to do the same to the other side or else it would look silly. That 1” of thickness added to the door. Can’t work. Lol

    Soooo impressed. My question is, since the door fit perfectly before, with the door frame, have you noticed any rubbing when you open or close it? Obviously the door is thicker now. Did you have to move the hinges or adjust frame?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thanks, great question!! We didn't have to move the hinges or adjust the frame, the added thickness didn't affect the door function for us.

    How do you open the door with just the pull handle. Does it not have a lock on it. I want to do this to the inside of my front door. But I’m unsure about how the door knob will fit back on it with adding to the thickness of the door. Ya know! Love this though

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We removed the old door knob and lock and because it was on the inside of our sun room we didn't need the lock. This project can still be done with a regular door knob and lock though, you just need to make sure that the screws are long enough for the added width of the trim. Thank you!!

  • @pengunionawesome1596
    @pengunionawesome1596 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great job! Question on the door handle. How is it staying closed without the latch from the knob?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you!! Our door is sturdy enough that it stays in a closed position when we shut it without a latch. You could also install a magnetic door latch if needed.

    • @tammiecarbohn6796
      @tammiecarbohn6796 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But it’s an exterior door. How do you lock it?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tammiecarbohn6796 The door is actually off of a sun room and doesn't lead to the outside which has its own lock. You could also use the existing door handle and lock if you needed.

    Since it was a turning knob door, how do you open it after putting in the new door handle?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It pulls open with the handle and pushes close. We didn't need any additional latch or lock mechanism to keep it closed because it was a snug fit and not a door we needed locked.

    Can you do both sides and the door still open and closes properly

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can but you would need to adjust the door jamb. Here is a post on how I have done it before: angelamariemade.com/diy-panel-door-demo-and-flooring/
