I was a child in the 80's. I bought two pairs of leg warmers a few months ago, I love them!

Many 1980s pop cultural institutions were conceived in the late 1970s. Garfield debuted in June 1978 in the comic strips in newspapers, but most merchandise didn't arrive until the early 1980s, and the first TV cartoon was in 1982. The first Star Wars movie and its associated merchandise was in 1977, but its primarily a 1980s phenomenon thanks to its two sequels, the Atari and NES video games, as well as the Ewoks and Droids spin-offs and the 1987 parody flick Spaceballs. Plus, New Wave had plenty of late '70s hits as a reaction to Punk.
The best part about '80s tech is that there's no outsider spy tracking and selling your data. That Rockwell song though is very telling about the world nowadays.

To me the part on computers overstates their value in the 80's household. Much more of a mid/late 90's thing. Even then most people weren't slaves to them like today, because heaven forbid a phone call went unanswered.

One fault with the NES controller is that the bottom corners can dig into your hands.
Though thankfully both Origin8 and Hyperkin Cadet fix that problem. Nintendo even released the dogbone version with the Top Loader model.

I have a new Walkman for myself and bought 2 for my kids. They are digital and are so much better than Apple or any other MP3 players I've bought.

No mention of the orange version of the Zapper that was created to deal with changing toy gun laws?

say mp3 players, not iPod. the iPod was the not the only mp3 player. What about the Creative ZEN which Apple stole from?

If we can include the first year of the 1990s; the Transformers toys made at that point mostly weren't fabulous; especially the Action Masters. Didn't help the turtles played such a major role in the demise of the original toy line in North America and Europe.

Alas I made the mistake of not supervising my moving company and my TRANSFORMERS collection was stolen (including a couple OBSCENELY expensive one-of-a-kind collectors editions!🥺😩)

I brought my NES at Macy's, and the first night my girlfriend, and I stayed up all night play Mario Brothers. The problem was how it was a work day week and both of us were tired because we only had like 3 hours of sleep. As soon as we got home, we started playing again. Lol
I worked at Toys R Us doing the Cabbage Patch craze and let me tell you, I never encountered as many crazy women in my life. They were even a few times they were possible fights about to happen.

I bought the ACTION SET years ago; I still have my NES and some games left! (wish I hadn’t gotten rid of the others)

The fall of the Berlin Wall didn’t happen during the Nixon administration so why are you showing pictures of Nixon while the wall is falling!!! And showing him shaking hands with everyone.
I’ve yet to see president Reagan saying “Mr Gorbachev!! Tear down this wall!”
One of the most iconic moments in 1980s.
