  • here we go folks, i explain what you will need to sharpen , and how i sharpen my knives and the secret why some knives will not work and the second video shows you in detail of the secret to fixing a dull knife. happy carving , arleen

    I have the same drill as you, and I use a 4in quick release clamp (the kind that adjusts with a trigger) to control the speed...works great. I also clamp the drill in a portable work bench so that I can use both hands on the knife.

    Thanks very much for the instructive advice. Nice to have a true expert giving the reasons why this should be so and this should be nay kind of thing. Can't beat a craftft woman/man for that experience

    Hi , i would use a med grit and a fine grit, it wear down but i find the heavy grit takes off to much metal, i used what ever came in the kit , thanks , arleen

    @Supermassively well one way i ck is cutting it across the grain of basswood, it will cut smooth,, and clean,, no white trail lines from the blade,

    making knives out of precise straight razors who want to do that.
    but honestly i stop buying them. i just use my 50 vintage straights.
    I would recommand using the gold dollar razors they getting better with the heat treatments. they only 3.50 each. i going to see about using a cheap chinese one for the wood carving cause i need to make me self axe handles the stores don't seem to have them for hacket heads.

    Use a whet stone, Get razor sharp edge.
