This is where I come forward with my story. My son aged 20 passed away on April 15th last year (my birthday) in a motorcycle accident. Later that day I was using my phone to watch some old bedtime stories videos on TH-cam (a strange kind of coping mechanism I know). I put my phone down on the arm of the chair and stood up and looked down (although it wasn't a phone call I had I still think it was my son trying to contact me in some way). The screen started to scroll down on it's own and at a frantic pace and stopped at the James Dean video about his death from road accident in his car 'little bastard' on this channel. I looked at my girlfriend, she'd seen it too so I wasn't imagining it. 10 minutes later his picture fell off the sideboard on to the floor. She was spooked but I kind of felt easy about him coming to see me. If by some strange way you see this Christopher, I think of you every day. I love you son. Dad.

At an extremely stressful time in my life after a sudden job loss I worked at a bank call center to try to support my wife and family. It was low-paying but it was a desperate time. One evening a call came in with no information populating the screen. The man on the phone didn't seem to have an issue to address.
While I was looking for a way to get his info, he just spoke of how "There are times in life when things look so hopeless but we come out the other end and all is okay after all. You have to stay focused on the things that really matter, not the big house and new cars."
The more I heard, the more I thought the man sounded just like my brother who had died 4 years earlier. Same voice. At the end of the call he said, "Well, I should be going. Take care, Johnny!" Nobody but my parents and siblings ever called me "Johnny". I hadn't given the man my name because at that job we only used operator ID numbers.
At the end of the call I went unavailable for a few minutes to gather myself. Yes, I admit it, I was in some level of shock. I tried everything I could to get the number that call had come from, but there just wasn't anything there.
This experience has stayed with me for many years, and it was not just my imagination, but I was under an enormous amount of stress at that time.
Yes, everything worked out fine in the end with a new job.

My mother called me after she passed away. I know without a doubt it was her. The ringing of the phone was clear as a bell when it woke me up. When I answered hello, I heard her voice on the line. She called me by a nickname she gave me when I was a little boy. I haven’t heard that nickname in more than 30 years. I was overcome with emotions, equal parts sadness and joy. I know she is waiting on the other side with my father. I look forward to being with them again. That thought brings me peace.

Several years ago an old babysitter that used to watch my sister and I lived alone. One afternoon she had a stroke and passed out on the floor of her home. She was completely unable to call for help or move at all. She also had no life alert necklace or anything like that.
Somehow a call was made to 911 from her home, and I think a voice said “help” before hanging up. This strange call got paramedics to her in time, saving her life and much of her physical ability. She is still alive and in her late 90s, and she says the caller was her guardian angel.
I’m more agnostic myself, but I believe her.

There's this story of a little girl who was at home with her mum who fell on the floor and the girl had managed to make an emergency call prompted by a huge " funny man" who kept urging her to dial the number and keep staying on the phone.
The actual conversation was being shown and one can hear the girl talking about the " funny man" who was looking after her.
Her mum had some kind of fit and was ok because she had received help in time. It was so amazing to watch this. I hope you can find it.🤗

Now this was something my family experienced back then. After my Aunt passed away while still pregnant with her twins, her husband and my Grandma received a call from her number but when they answer it the call cuts off. In the midnight my Aunt's phone will ring througout for few minutes then turn off. It all stopped when we visited her grave, offered prayers and told her that she don't need to be worried because we'll be ok. She can take a rest now. It was a sad moment for our family but I hope she's in a better place now.

I have a story like this. My husband and I were at his grandma's house one night. His grandpa had recently died, and his great aunt was visiting from out of state. His grandma needed breathing meds but wasn't taking them, and my husband kept trying to get her to. Eventually she started coughing and wheezing. So his great aunt said, "you better take your meds now, or your husband is going to call and yell at you." Right at that moment, the great aunt's phone started ringing in the other room. It was a track phone she only used when traveling, so no one had the number. Also, it was 8 at night which was 10 where she lived - too late for telemarketers. They didn't get to the phone in time, but when they saw the missed call, it was a restricted number. His grandma quickly ran to take her meds after that!

I had a weird phone call years ago that I still wonder about. It was the mid-80s and I was home from college for the summer. The phone rang, I answered it and I noticed immediately that the line was crackling with static. The female voice (presumably an operator) asked me if I would accept a collect call. I asked from whom and before the operator could answer, an older lady came on the line and in an excited sounding voice, asked "Is that Michael?" I didn't recognize her voice, but I was startled that she knew my name and I asked "Who is this?" In response, the older lady just started babbling incoherent words and the call ended abruptly, almost like it faded out rather than being disconnected. One of the strangest things I've ever personally experienced.

I have had two very bizarre phone calls, one of which I still have on a dictaphone tape. The first one was from a very elderly woman (or a very young child) announcing that (a name given) was dead. The second was a very hoarse and strangled voice reciting a string of numbers. They could have been prank calls. The numerical recital is something that has been associated with MIBs in the past but I doubt that is what it was.

I remember 2 similar instances: First, my uncle passed in 1996 and my mom was heartbroken over the loss of her big brother. She kept saying she wanted to talk to him one more time. After the funeral, our phone rang and she picked. After a few seconds she dropped the phone and started shaking. I picked it up and heard nothing but static. She said her brother was on the other line and said "Hey lil sis."
A few years later, my dad had the landline phone cut off because the bill was high due to the fact of having 3 teenage boys. We had gotten use to having no phone and one Friday night it rang. My middle brother was excited about the phone being cut back on and grabbed the phone first. We all listened as a woman said "When your father gets home, tell him to go to the hospital. His sister Ollie just passed." After that, the phone went dead. My dad came home about 15 minutes later and my mom told him what happened. He reassured us that he didn't have the phone cut on. He went to the neighbors house and used their phone. He came back and told us we had to go to the hospital because Ollie did pass away. Because we didn't have a phone, no family member could reach out to us. My pops took it pretty hard because he doesn't believe in the paranormal.

I remember my Aunt received a phone call from an elderly neighbor, who just wanted to tell her how much she appreciated all the love and caring she had shown her over the years. My aunt had just taken some cookies out of the oven before answering the phone. Seeing that the cookies were now cool and feeling that the elderly neighbor was needing some company she headed down the street, cookies in hand. As she approached the neighbors house there was an ambulance and a deputy sheriffs car. She explained to the deputy that she was a friend of the neighbor and that she had just spoken to her on the phone. She asked if the elderly woman was ok. She said the Deputy just looked at her funny and said, Mam, this woman has been dead for hours. Apparently, another neighbor had seen the elderly woman sitting in a chair in her backyard earlier in the day and had called the Sheriff's Office (Pre-911 days) because she didn't look right. She called again about an hour later to say she was not responding to questions if she was ok, and that's when the deputy was sent, shortly followed by an ambulance. My aunt was a very spiritual woman and took for what it was and said she was glad she got the call.

This happened to me. you can believe it or not, but it happened and I have to live with the knowledge that this sort of shit is real every single day. I was very close with my first cousin, but he had moved away to go to school and we didn’t get to see each other for an entire school year. He was coming back to our hometown during break and is coming to pick me up.
At 6:30 pm I got a phone call from an unknown number, that is to say it just said unknown and didn’t have a number attached that I could see and I answered it. I could just barely make out his voice, it had a watery almost distant sound to it. Almost like the vocal filter on TikTok that people use when they imitate eight-year-olds. But not quite exactly like that.
He said my name, then he told me he missed me, and he couldn’t wait to see me again. I laughed and told him he would be here soon and I couldn’t wait to see him either but then I just heard a distant “bye man “ and the call disconnected. I could not call back as we was no number to call back and just said unknown on call log. These were old phones.
It was at least another hour before the phone call started to our house from his family telling our family that on his way home, witness statements giving the exact time as 6:05 he had been hit and killed on a notoriously dangerous highway. (Rt. 50 in WV if anyone knows) A water truck with a full load coming downhill around a relatively blind turn as he tried to pull out and he got slammed into and instantly killed. That phone call came close to a half hour after he was dead.

My dead friend called me exactly one year after he died. I still had him programmed in my phone. His number was still tied to his old phone. My phone rang and it was his name. I knew his phone was dead in a box in my garage. I answered and could make out a disembodied voice saying I’m sorry I love y’all. He killed himself a year earlier. I ran to the garage and found the box with his memorabilia. The phone was not only dead but we didn’t even have a charger for that older style phone. I have no doubt it was Jason Wayne Bennett RIP turtle
PS his number was not yet given to another person’s phone. He was on a large account and his aunt had kept the bill up so jays old phone was still active. Just dead in a box full of other stuff in my garage. That phone was dead

My father died when I was six. My mother told me growing up that she once had a dream that felt very real and was the two talking and getting a final chance to say goodbye. Growing up, I thought it was probably just a dream induced by a grieving mind, but I always wondered if it might be something more. My paternal grandmother stepped up and became the second parent my father should have been. Just a few years ago, she passed away and I was devastated. A couple weeks later, I had a dream that would be seared into my mind forever. It was me and my grandmother; we didn't talk, there were no tears, but there was this powerful sensation of peace and tranquility. Obviously, the loss still hurts, but that dream was the turning point for my grief. Now looking at it with hindsight, what are the odds that both I and my mother received powerful dreams of lost ones, having one last chance to say goodbye, and finding healing in them? I am a skeptic in most things, but these two dreams really make me wonder.

Had a similiar experince as a teenager, my dad died in belgrade duing US bombing one night in late 2009 i got a weird phone call when i was out with some friends, it was around 2.30 am and i didn't know the caller, i picked up after looking at the caller ID and thought that's weird no one ever calls me, when i picked up i was hearing a man in pain or someone begging for help. the weird thing is the voice sounded familair yet distorted somehow like it was under water or the signal was cutting off, i told my mom and others but the call delelted his ID after i tried calling back after he hang up. i wanna say i lived in Serbia, and phone calls like that did not happen as in the US no one used voice changers or anything like that. most bizarre thing i have experinced ever. it was raining and thunder as well on the night i will never forget that 40 second phone call.

When my mom passed in 2019, my dad told me that the doorbell kept ringing. He said it would happen a few times a week, mid-morning thru late afternoon. "You think it might be mama?" It made me think about the stories my mom used to tell me about her childhood. Her and my dad lived 3 houses down from each other so she would stop by after church on Sundays to play ringing the doorbell until someone answered... Trying to be logical though, I advised him to replace the doorbell, since it was the original one from when they bought the house in 1976, but the ringing just randomly stopped. 😳 My dad now has a Ring doorbell installed but I wish he had had it then, when the ringing was active. I was so curious... 🤔

I had a similar experience when my father passed away. I was alone in his apartment, sorting through his things, and I heard the doorbell ring. I went to the door, and no one was there. I went back and kept sorting, and I was interrupted several more times by the doorbell ringing. Every time I would go to the door and find no one. I thought it might be some kids playing a prank, but the area outside the apartment door was a hall where it would be difficult to hide unless you had access to another apartment you could run into, and other people would have heard you closing the apartment door. The doors were big and heavy, and rattled when you shut them. You could hear and feel it whenever someone in the hall closed their front door. At one point I checked the hall carefully, went back in, and the doorbell rang again as I started walking away.
I started to think to myself, just supposing it was a message from my father, what was the message trying to say? I had been sorting through his books to decide what to give away and what to keep, and it occurred to me he had been really protective of some of his books, especially SF and first editions. I thought "okay, just hypothetically supposing it IS him, maybe he wants me to slow down and reconsider before giving away some of his books?" I stopped sorting the books for the day, and whether it was a coincidence or not, I didn't hear the doorbell ring again after that.

I want to believe that ghosts will attempt to contact love ones after their passing in order to reassure them that they are in a good (or better) place as a way of not causing them too much grief and anxiety over their passing. I heard of phantom calls before but your remark is a bit strange. Although one night I thought I heard knocking at my front door. It was in the middle of the night as well which startled me from sleep. Next morning I mentioned it to my dad and he decided to get a Ring doorbell in order to keep an eye out for any mysterious knocking and check on any packages arriving. My dad experienced this, when my grandfather passed, when I was still a small boy myself (and I was soundly sleeping through all this) in the mid 90s. Grandpa had taken ill, and had been admitted to the hospital. He wasn't getting any better, and then he got hit by a stroke. He'd had one just months before. Not a good sign. As my dad told me, he was on edge from the moment he'd been informed of it and was just waiting for a call informing him that the worst had happened.
A couple days later, middle of the night, the call comes. My dad got up to answer the phone, but it had stopped ringing shortly before he got to it. This is where things get a bit odd. Our phone had a callback button. He pressed it, but no one picked up. He figured that, perhaps that number did not accept incoming calls. So, he went back to bed. Thinking that, if it was the hospital, they would call him back. And indeed, something like 20-30 minutes later, there came another call. As he feared, it was the hospital, and they informed my dad that grandpa had just passed.
My dad woke my mom, let her know, and left for the hospital.
In the morning, my dad was back home, and something was rubbing him the wrong way. When talking to the staff, they'd told him the cause of death, the time, and so on.
You can probably guess, but indeed, the time roughly matched that first call that had woken my dad up.
Now we actually had a little device, which would keep track of call history. My mom and dad got it to keep track of any missed calls during the day when everyone was out.
The number that had called first that night? It belonged to my grandpa. He lived alone, and besides himself, only my dad had keys to the place. So there was no one who could be making that call.
Now of course, he could be making things up. But he really has no reason too, and he usually does not enjoy talking about any paranormal topics (despite having had a few unusual experiences, that I know of). I'd actually forgotten all about this, until watching this episode. I do wonder how common this phenomena is, judging by the other comments. In my late teens, I'd listen to some paranormal podcasts and this would pop up quite a bit, amongst listener stories. (Thought not remotely close to the typical spooks like poltergeist activity or shadow people).

This actually happened to me. Family friend, Stan Lawrence passed. Before he passed, he was in the hospital for a while. He called and talked to my gramma regularly. I answered the phone numerous times when he'd call, and it was always the same raspy, phlegmy, voice asking "Is Millie there?" Or "Can I speak with Mildred?" Anyway..... Stanley passed away. And 2 days later, phone rings, I answer it, and I was young, 12 or 13, didn't put 2&2 together when I heard "Is Millie there?" in that raspy voice. I simply hollered "Gramma, phone, its Stan Lawrence." She came and grabbed the phone, and she said all she heard was some raspy breathing and then it went dead. She asked me who it was, I told her 100% it was Stanley. She said he'd passed 2 days ago. 😳 I remembered that now. It was crazy. It was definitely, undoubtedly, 1 million % Stan Lawrence. I answered it. It was scary, and weird. I have no idea how it happened. All I know is that it definitely happened. Just 1 of those weird things that happen in this world I suppose.

My dad lived in a haunted house in Folsom, CA. My room was an addition to the original house. There was a ghost called The Coalman who was in that part of the house. My dad's friend took a shower in my bathroom once when I was not there visiting. He wiped the mirror off to shave and saw a black face with glowing red eyes. He never went into that part of the house again.
One night my dad had a few people over while I was visiting and one of them had heard the house was haunted and wanted to see something. She was sitting by a window when something knocked her down and when she lifted up her shirt she had 3 red stripes across her side.
That same night the previous tenant of the house called on the phone. She had been dead for decades. I got to talk to her. I was like 8 or 9 at the time and all I heard was some breathing and distorted background sounds. I was like NOPE and gave the phone back to my dad.
My dad later told me that the good ghost, the one that called on the phone could only protect the original part of the house from when she lived there. Since my room was an addition she wasn't able to protect there.
I never did like sleeping in that room and opted to sleep on the couch or in my dad's room.

      Spirit World
The postmortal spirit world is a place where the spirits of those who have died live before the Resurrection. The spirit world consists of paradise, where the righteous dwell, and spirit prison, where those who were wicked in mortality dwell.
PRESIDENT BRIGHAM YOUNG TAUGHT THAT THE POSTMORTAL SPIRIT WORLD IS ON THE EARTH, AROUND US (see Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young [1997], 279).
Spirit beings have the same bodily form as mortals except that the spirit body is in perfect form (see Ether 3:16). Spirits carry with them from earth their attitudes of devotion or antagonism toward things of righteousness (see Alma 34:34). They have the same appetites and desires that they had when they lived on earth. All spirits are in adult form. They were adults before their mortal existence, and they are in adult form after death, even if they die as infants or children (see Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith [1998], 131-32).
The prophet Alma in the Book of Mormon taught about two divisions or states in the spirit world.
Paradise. According to the prophet Alma, the righteous spirits rest from earthly care and sorrow. Nevertheless, they are occupied in doing the work of the Lord. President Joseph F. Smith saw in a vision that immediately after Jesus Christ was crucified, He visited the righteous in the spirit world. He appointed messengers, gave them power and authority, and commissioned them to “carry the light of the gospel to them that were in darkness, even to all the spirits of men” (Doctrine and Covenants 138:30).
The Church is organized in the spirit world, and priesthood holders continue their responsibilities there (see Doctrine and Covenants 138:30). President Wilford Woodruff taught: “The same Priesthood exists on the other side of the veil. … Every Apostle, every Seventy, every Elder, etc., who has died in the faith as soon as he passes to the other side of the veil, enters into the work of the ministry” (Deseret News, Jan. 25, 1882, 818).
Family relationships are also important. President Jedediah M. Grant, a counselor to Brigham Young, saw the spirit world and described to Heber C. Kimball the organization that exists there:
“He said that the people he there saw were organized in family capacities. … He said, ‘When I looked at families, there was a deficiency in some, … for I saw families that would not be permitted to come and dwell together, because they had not honored their calling here’” (Deseret News, Dec. 10, 1856, 316-17).
Spirit Prison. The Apostle Peter referred to the postmortal spirit world as a prison, which it is for some (see 1 Peter 3:18-20). In the spirit prison are the spirits of those who have not yet received the gospel of Jesus Christ. These spirits have agency and may be enticed by both good and evil. The spirits may progress as they learn gospel principles and live in accordance with them. The spirits in paradise can teach the spirits in prison (see Doctrine and Covenants 138). If they accept the gospel and the ordinances performed for them in the temples, they may leave the spirit prison and dwell in paradise.
Also in the spirit prison are those who rejected the gospel after it was preached to them either on earth or in the spirit prison. These spirits suffer in a condition known as hell. They have removed themselves from the mercy of Jesus Christ, who said, “Behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent; but if they would not repent they must suffer even as I; which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit” (Doctrine and Covenants 19:16-18). After suffering for their sins, they will be allowed, through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, to inherit the lowest degree of glory, which is the Telestial kingdom.

My daughter bought a house where the 90 year old lady had gone into a care home, where she died shortly after. Near the front door was a small room with a seat and telephone where the old lady used to sit and chat on the phone. There was a bell on the outside of the room so that she could hear the phone ring.
After my daughter moved in the external bell would give a couple of rings even though the phone had been disconnected and taken out. I myself heard it on more than one occasion, my daughter used to say ‘ that’s just Elsie trying to get through,’ it eventually stopped but my daughter has left the bell over the doorway and says she will never remove it, personally, I would have taken it down and binned it. When I was in middle school back in 2000, I had a friend who lived in a house that had been built in the early 1900’s. He relayed to me some of the weird things that would happen:
-one house phone, a large boxy rotary phone that hung from a wall, would sometimes be found in the morning with the earpiece dangling off the hook.
-one of the ground floor toilets, again an older antique type with a pull chain, would sometimes flush itself at night.
-the upstairs shutters liked to be open.
-their phone bill would sometimes contain 4-digit numbers which had long since been disconnected.
I spent the night once and it was a good time. His room was a fully furnished basement and we ended up playing goldeneye until it was late. I didn’t experience anything but, I’ll tell you what, that pull chain toilet took a lot of effort to flush.

I don’t want to hijack the comments but I would love to share something that happened to me that’s non phone call related, but that I have an extremely hard time explaining.
About a year ago my cousin passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm. We were extremely close and she was definitely my best friend, so of course I was absolutely distraught and could not stop crying.
The next day I went into my room to relax whilst I took my medication. It’s for my rheumatoid arthritis and takes awhile, so I usually play games on my iPhone to make the time pass quicker, and I always keep my phone on my bedside table, but it wasn’t there. I proceeded to look everywhere. I eventually took all the bedding and pillows off the bed because I had to remake it with clean linens anyway. I searched everywhere and asked my husband and daughter if they had seen it and neither had.
I resigned myself to the fact that I had used it earlier that morning so it was definitely somewhere in the house and would eventually show up. So I grabbed the iPad to watch some videos whilst finishing my medicine and after a few minutes my husband walked in and around to his side of the bed and said, “oh good, you found your phone” whilst pointing down next to me on the bed.
I looked next to me and right there on top of the quilt I had just put on the bed mere minutes before sat my phone. I know for a fact that it wasn’t there before I sat down and it couldn’t have been, regardless. I also know that I didn’t put it there, nor could anyone else have.
My only explanation is that maybe it was my cousin letting me know that she might be physically gone, but in a way, she’ll still always be around. That she’s okay and needed me to be okay, too. I have no idea if it really was her or not, but it absolutely helped me grieve her loss.
    Thanks for letting me share.
    R.I.P. Sly
Thanks for always being there for me no matter what or the time.

We didnt receive a call but, the circumstances around the death of my Mama M. (my grandmother) were almost serendipitous, after months long attempts to establish a phone service in central Mexico, the phone service not only managed to establish phone service for my grandparents, but the day before my grandmother's passing, Mama M. called us from Mexico, not knowing that all pieces in the puzzle had aligned to grant her the chance to say goodbye, only we didnt know it was the final call until the next day, when she passed of an unexpected pulmonary embolism. My mother and I have long suspected that the hand of fate, destiny, gave us a a chance to hear her one last time, before taking her to the other side. and for that I am grateful, as I am grateful to both my grandparents for all the love they gave me, they gave me all they had and could not have given more. Whenever I think of them all I can say is "thank you", I am not happy they passed, but I am grateful for the time we were given, and I cant wait until my time to join them finally arrives.

The concept of spirits contacting the living has a long history, though I can only attest to one that happened to my family. My dad was woke up the middle of the night once shortly after his dad, my grandfather had passed away. He was awoke to the smell of the cologne my grandfather used to put on and had a feeling of contentment during the encounter as if knowing that he dad was in a better place now without any pain. It was my grandfather's way of visiting one last time to say goodbye and that he'll see us in heaven when it's our time to go home! Excellent video! I have been convinced for years that my ex boyfriend called me from the other side. About 2 weeks after he was laid to rest.
It was around 1am and I was laying in bed dozing off when my cellphone rang the number said unknown I answered (I always answer unknowns.. bc I'm curious) I could almost feel something Unearthly, like I was connected to a different reality, just an eerie still silence. I said hello but no one said anything. I thought maybe someone was playing on the phone and I decided to play their game so I put the phone up to the cd player and blasted music. The caller didn't hang up and neither did I. I just put my end on mute and went to sleep about an hour later I woke up and the call was still connected, very confused I just hung up. I looked at the number again it said unknown. When I got up the next morning I looked through my call logs the unknown # was gone.
What's more strange is that the song I randomly chose to play was one of my ex's favorite songs not mine. I know in my heart it was him. May he rest in peace in God's Hands

I 100% believe this can happen. My father had a close relationship with his grandmother who always had a way of knowing things (her son was shot in the Vietnam war and she woke up during the night freaking out because she dreamt her son had been shot) so after she passed it seemed like the connection she had with my father was still there because everytime he was in danger of having a accident or was in a life or death situation (he got upto a lot of trouble in his early years) right before it would happen he would hear her voice say his name in a panicked manor like she was trying to get his attention. He stopped hearing her voice after he was shot in the arm in the 80's maybe it had to do with the blood transfusion or she gave up trying to warn him but its still very interesting to me especially since he's a very logical guy and doesn't turn to paranormal explanations at all. He still doesn't know why he heard her voice in those situations

One of us had to have a company phone on us in case any of the clerks needed assistamce with a customer. I work the closing shift and so there wasnt many people inside the store past 10, we'd have 1 checkout open. I was out in the lot when i started to have a panic attack, as i was freaking out the phone in my vest pocket rang, it was the checkout cashier, i tried to collect myself before answering and started the walk inside. As i got in the main doors i answered the call and before i said anything the womana voice on the other end told me "Youre not alone" very soothenly and hungup. I was about 30steps away from where i could see all the checkouts and when i rounded the corner i saw the one cashier we had, it was a guy and i was confused on why he had called and sounded like an older woman over the phone. I got to him and he was checking out a customer and when i asked him why he called he was confused and told me he hadnt. I was thinking the exact same thing through the video. It's much like other cases of older tech/things/etc that have stories around them but are no longer a viable thing. I've had some weird calls on my smartphone but it usually is a spam caller or actual robot voice. Makes you wonder if legitimate land lines in the ground have something to do with it for they pass through something solid or if these are just ghost stories from an age long gone. Cause' I'm sure there are smartphone ghost stories out there. People often use whatever means of communication or media to tell a new type of ghost story throughout the ages.

As a kid, the landline terrorized me so much! Phantom calls where the phone called itself were common. Post-party line and pre-three way calling, I remember getting a call that was two nice old ladies speaking to each other, but it sounded very distant. Another one that freaked me out was getting calls with interference from radio towers. Cell phones had their own weirdness in the first years, but never anything as interesting or as unsettling as a landline.

On the morning of my Grandad's interment, both my Dad and my Aunt, his sister, received (and missed) calls on their mobiles from each other - at precisely the same time, neither had made a call. Each phone only recorded receiving a call from the other, no record of each having dialled out. Comparing phone bills, the calls occurred at exactly the same time, down to the second.
Both phones, in two totally different locations, had apparently received a call from the other simultaneously, less than an hour or so before their father's cremated remains were due to be interred in the local cemetery.

This happened to a good friend of my mom back in the days. Supposedly this friend call her sister at 6 pm saying that her husband push her and she felt down the stairs. Her sister rush to the house only to be told by the neighbor that a lady die on the scene at around noon and was taken out on a stretcher by paramedic. Probably one of the most frightening incident of my childhood life. For the next several weeks, we heard so much noise in our kitchen in the dead of night. Our dog freaking out. My mom said that it was her good friend ghost/spirit visiting us. The sister had to move far away due to too much strange occurrence happening. I guess they were terrorized by her spirit for months and months.

Although I don't believe in the supernatural whatsoever, I have a similar experience to this. My mother passed away when I was 13. I kept her mobile phone number in my phone's contacts for the months after, because I couldn't bring myself to remove it, even though the phone had been disconnected since her death. About a year after she passed, I was in a very bad place when I received a series of missed calls and silent voicemails: the caller-ID said "mum".
Rationally thinking ,it was probably a glitch in my phone, or maybe the number was reissued and that person called me by mistake. Yet what are the odds of that happening... No matter what, it gave 13-year-old me a strange sense of comfort to think there was even the slightest chance she was reaching out to me.

A theatre I used to work at had an automated call line which used prerecorded messages. A few years back the woman who voiced the line died and the phones were disconnected. For about two years after that, the disconnected phones would ring randomly during shows and her voice would play. This pretty much stopped when a new phone system was installed, but they still occasionally get a call where the old prerecorded messages play, despite them not being anywhere on the system anymore...

Not only was no one using that phone, dad’s phone was in a drawer- battery dead for three weeks because he was too ill to use it. His picture only lasted for about a second and then it disappeared. Reading through the comments, this seems to be a fairly common occurrence. I've always been pretty sceptical about anything to do with the paranormal, but while I've never experienced anything myself (that I don't have a "natural" explanation for, anyway), there are things that have happened to people I know - people who I know wouldn't BS about this sort of stuff - and one of those things was exactly this. In 2006, my GF at the time phoned me at about 6:30am, sounding very shaken. She told me that she'd just got off a several minute phone call with her grandmother, but that her mother had phoned her earlier to say that her grandmother had died. She never actually gave me details of the call - line quality, conversation content, anything like that, and I didn't want to press her for info, even though I was a bit of a paranormal investigator at the time. It just felt wrong to ask.
