    Great repair, you make it look so simple. I'll have to take a look at my Bachmann 66xx non runner it could be the motor needs replacing. Thanks. Keith

    Good one. Might be worth giving the old motor a good clean? It’s possible it’s just full of crap, and one of the commutator segments is really dirty. You can also check with a multimeter. If you get a simultanée reading between all the segments the motor is ok, if there’s a big difference there’s effectively a problem. Same principle as doing a compression test on your car engine 😂

    Your children's banging was exactly the same as the revolutions of the driving wheels so I thought (until you mentioned your children) that another problem had suddenly cropped up.
    Yes I remember the original 56/66xx trash to track video and you certainly had to do a hell of a lot more to that loco than this one. Still something else to watch out for. OO Bill found that Bachmann doesn't have the motors for their 57xx Pannier tanks so he fitted a old X03 or X04 motor.
