After many years of struggle with a greedy landlord, the Hutters of Carbeth become one of the first scottish community land buy-outs. In an age where home-ownership is out of reach and the shift to the cities has taken many people away from nature, the tradition of owning a hut in the countryside for simple, off-grid living is enjoying a surge in popularity.

Walked past this amazing wee place, While doing the west highland way a couple of years ago. Very charming.. Would love to stay there.
I will be interested in joining the off-grid group as I lived off grid on my smallholding for 2 years now been turfed off as the land I am on is rented and the landowner just sold up and I and family have nowhere else to go. This video shows that together we can beat landowners
Nearly ten years on and the 1000 huts campaign has built about 5 huts
@William Kirkwood non sense
One dislike... the landlord? lol
Does anyone know what has happened since?
Yes, community buy out has now progressed to a community sell out. 50k for a hut at Carbeth minimum, to the exclusion of working class traditional hutters.
@@bellamia4174 the working class still own the huts, it’s just that working class has more money than they have ever had.
@bella mia 50k? Nonsense! Grew up through the rent strikes and still a hutter to this day. 32 years of hutting👌
