- CISA aspirant should be aware about layer of OSI at which below devices operate.
Hub - Physical Layer (1st Layer)
Switch - Data Link Layer (2nd Layer)
Bridge - Data Link Layer (2nd Layer)
Router - Network Layer (3rd Layer)
Gateway-Application Layer (7th Layer)
It must be noted that higher the layer, more intelligent the devices will be. Out of above Hub (layer 1) is dumbest device and Gateway (layer 7) is the most intelligent device.

in one of your quiz the question asks :
Which of the following LAN physical layouts is subject to total loss if one device fails?
bus
ring
star
completely connected
and answer is bus . but why not ring ??
Because in ring every computer is interconnected, it means every computer has communication with other two computers and can send and receive msg from other 2 computers so if the connection of with one computer is destroyed then the computer can still receive a msg from computer two, but in case of bus the msg is transferred from computer 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 and if 5 computer us destroyed then the msg will not be transferred to computer 6.
