    You know this man is an engineer when he spends 15 min at the Physical layer
    PS Thanks so much! It's actually pretty difficult to find a comprehensive video done within 30 min

    • @kj7767

      Actually he spends 14 min and 45 seconds.

      @@Junglist619000 Considering that one refers to the male aspect versus the female aspect of the two components i would hardly consider this enough to negate his 30 years of experience. Rather trivial error anyone could make producing a video for the internet lol

    thank god, youre way better than my teacher he just sits at the top of the class in silence and assigns reading assignments and makes you feel stupid for asking him a question, you explain IN PLAIN ENGLISH WITH VISUAL EXAMPLES youre a good man for this work, paving the way for us newbies

    I had some basic knowledge of the OSI or TCP/IP model, although there were obvious gaps in that knowledge that was filled with thanks to this video! I love how short it is but covers so much, especially a 15 minute introduction to the physical layer 😂I thought the physical layer would receive the least amount of attention. Thank you!

  • @govindrahunjan
    @govindrahunjan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    great introduction Kevin. but for complete beginners like me, it'd be more perceptible if you explain: why these layers were born, why they're called layers in the first place, why this model was chosen, besides talking what these 'layers' do. that'd give a holistic picture of how the entire concept originated and why this setup was chosen. it'd make your video a lot more substantial and probably the only one, as I haven't found even one that talks about it!
    kudos to you for the great work! blessings

    Great video. I know nothing about IT but got convinced to get my network + certification. I figured it was no big deal. I'd figure it out until I got into my comptia coursework. I quickly learned that I need to learn so much and I also need to learn the fundamentals before network plus because this stuff has so many abriviations and terms I don't know/understood and even when I learn the definition I don't hate any knowledge of how or why to apply it. But this video does help me understand at least this one model.

    First of all it gives me so much pleasure to appreciate and thank you for your time and your friendly expertise sharing with us. I have one question that makes me confused, here's my question: assume host A sends a message ( e.g.enemies are coming) to host B, lets see on the OSI MODEL : LAYER 7 (e.g. enemies are coming) --->layer6 (the sky is falling (encrypted the message))---->layer5 ( open communication like walkie talkie to exchange password, authentication,authorization and to make sure it is from the right source) and here's the confused part, how come host A communicate host B with out having port#, IP address, Ethernet header and trailer bits? How communication occur between host A's layer 5 and host B's layer 5 without L4,L3,L2&L1.?

    Kevin really knows his stuff. The overly technical examples kind of got me lost because I'm just starting out in Networking / Cybersecurity. But after I learn some more I'll revisit this video. If you love the very technical examples I'd say go for it if you are just need a basic foundation. I would check out Eli the Computer Guy. And then research some more OSI information and then once you have a basic foundation come back and check out this video. I feel like you will be able to get a lot more out of it since you understand a lot of the examples. Just my thoughts. I have zero experience with networking (X-want-be programmer turned Cybersecurity).
