Blues music was influenced by West African music passed down by enslaved people from West Africa, as well as European-style folk music passed down by European immigrants to the U.S. The harmonica was invented in Germany as a piano tuner and it reached the U.S. via German immigrants. Little Walter was a famous Black musician who revolutionized its use in Blues music. It’s funny how an African American contributed to the modern music of his ancestral homeland.
Far too few people outside of Africa get to hear the music of Boubacar Traore in their daily lives, why should this be? He's clearly a musician/song writer of the highest order and deserves a huge worldwide audience.

I believe the Nilo-Saharan and the Niger-Congo regions, that's where the roots of ancient African artistry and culture lies. And Mali, is certainly one of its capitals. What an incredible artist. And Malian music is on another level. The instrumentals are so rich. I believe the Nilo-Saharan and the Niger-Congo regions, that's where the roots of ancient African artistry and culture lies. And Mali, is certainly one of its capitals. I hear and see their cultural influence everywhere on the continent.

Beautiful, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I first heard the Kora. in Seattle at Bumbershoot in the late 80's early 90's, the African music was always some of the very best. So peaceful and soulful and uplifting. Its great to hear the music of Mali again. Peace on Earth :)
