I cut slots in the foam and thread double-sided Velcro through it. Loop the ends over the firearm and press one end against the other. Got a few of them that way. Easy to do. Easy to adjust for different options or different weapons. Only cost is the Velcro.
I'll wait til Magpul starts selling their own cases that come with this setup rather than dropping $200+ on a Pelican case just to turn around and spend even more on Magpul's foam. If I'm going to that much on the Pelican case I'm going to take the time to cut the foam myself for that specific rifle. I've only done it once before and it isn't perfect but that rifle doesn't budge.
If youre wanting to know, buying a pelican case plus this daka insert is cheaper currently on optics planet than buying the full magpul case of the same size listed on their website
@@Fadaar well its not actually available to buy yet lol but its listed on their site. I think the pelican cases look way better but I’m not trying to toss 340 on a case anyways
I got one for my V730. The system itself works well but the base foam is way too thick though. I had to order a custom fitted 1.5" thick replacement base layer to get the case to close on my rifles, others have experienced the same issue.
That might be the largest gun case I've seen. It's huge. Can get 2 rifles, 25 hand guns and a spotting scope. And a plethora of magazines. Do you know what a plethora is El Jeffe?
@@racer14glr91 what's your point? All I did was answer a question for people that I myself had and usually have when I watch these types of videos. I didn't comment on either type of product. I merely stated the listed cost.
Expensive and I don't recommend it if you have large side turrets. By the time you get done putting your pelican case with DAKA inserts together you've pretty much spent almost $400. For a case. Its main saving grace is the reconfigurability.
Magpul suggests once transfer of OEM foam to DAKA replacement system to close it for 24 hours, doing this before adding any gear in to the case, this allows for settling of it all. Truth just doing this instruction was difficult so glad my firearm was not inside to compound the latching. No one says exactly but on a Pelican Vault 800 there are three base layers of OEM included foam to remove before adding DAKA system.
I have this exact setup and I can tell you the grid sucks. First off the replacement foam it shipped with is too short despite me ordering the correct kit so it isn’t fully supported on one end. The columns rarely fit exactly right so you end up having to jam stuff in which is applying constant torque somewhere on the gun. You would be much better off buying a stack of replacement foam to cut as needed if and when your setups change.
I keep seeing this product but I’m not sold on it. I feel like there is too many different gun parts is many sizes for the pieces to fit exactly right.
i can see the applications for this, however, IMO feels like a gimmick. Sure this is Generation one of this DAKA style but id imagine my opinion is bias. I prefer incognito cases. Being from the Seattle area I have a guitar case and a golf bag for longer sporting rifles. But yes I love the case for airliner transportation. I believe its too much case for range needs.. Great Spotlight @Caleb I enjoy these videos a lot. just my 2cents
TSA doesn’t chuck your luggage. Everything is moved throughout the system on belts and rollers. Your luggage is chucked into the airplane cargo area every time it’s loaded into the airplane. Damage doesn’t occur on the TSA end it occurs when it’s loaded onto the airplane. TSA has installed extensive camera systems to ensure your luggage is handled correctly while it’s in the TSA system.
TSA from top to bottom is staffed with some reprehensible and indefensible humans. Having to install cameras "extensively" tells you everything we need to know.
They don’t give you enough of the organizing pieces for what you pay…if they gave you more, you could organize more things in the case. Nice idea… but for the cost, they need to give you more.
Since the Magpul large case is not yet in production and retail sales, I bought the Organizer inserts and foam base to adjust for use in my Pelican 1750 case. To retro-fit a Pelican 1750 I measured and traced outlines of the Pelican 1750 case foam onto the Magpul Daka foam. I cut this foam to fit the Pelican with a pocket knife honed to a razor-edge. I measured and marked removal of two rows of the Organizer base sheets (with the holes) and cut the Grid to fit perfectly in the Pelican 1750 using a Bosch Oscillating tool and cutting blades (BOSCH OSL005C 5-Piece Starlock Oscillating Multi Tool Assorted Set Blades). Initially I tried using a Dremel cutting disk 1 1/2" diameter, but found that to be too shallow a cut. Now, comes the arranging of the blocks according to this video to secure my Tikka T3X Tactical A1 and the mounted Kahles 252i DLR optics. The foam bottom from Magpul is thick and might make the space available for the rifle and scope side-turrets not workable for closing the case lid. Modifications to the foam and/or the coated styrofoam Organizer inserts might be necessary in order to close the Pelican 1750 case with 5.3Inch interior height versus the 5.5inch internal height of the proposed Magpul LR53.

great content great review: I like the doka case it has versatility, but you are paying mostly for the Magpul name and even y'all have to admit, that there is nothing like that nice neatly cut to the firearm type case, especially with some optional cuts, for optics, mags, and other accessories. but really the Magpul Doka case, just doesn't offer much in internal aesthetics. really it looks sloppy internally
I'd rather have quiet wheels in both my pelican rifle cases.... so bad in fact there's DIY's on them changing them out with roller blade wheels. Im not alone Pelican corporate executives " who cares about quiet wheels "
I'm honestly unable to come up with any functional advantage this has over foam. Its not that hard to just cut new plugs when you buy an attachment and save them for when you want to switch attachments.
@@jamesbaker3153 true. But if you use one case for multiple loadouts. Say one day a PRS rifle, next a carbine and shotgun. The foam in some brands does not last long. It's another option that wasn't available before. Don't understand the hate from some. Just don't buy it. Simple

I had the same thought
Neat idea. Keep in mind - if the foam the lid compresses too much against your bulge, it’s much easier for shocks and impacts to transfer to the item.
FYI- Pelican case sold seperatly.. lol , but this kit is only a c-note! definatly worth looking into!

Custom foam is similar, but not adaptive to different loadouts.
