I watched you set up another paddle a while ago. I've been using this system for a few months now and love it. I do change the overgrip about every 2-3 weeks as it becomes soiled.
Great video. I love my hesacore. Picked one up about 7 months ago and haven’t looked back. I like how I can register my fingers/knuckles for different grips depending on the shot I want to make. Gives that extra bit of grip security when the heat is on and you’re playing hard. 😊
Great video! Super helpful. Just wondering, have you ever tried putting tungsten tape inside the Selkirk paddle hole to see if that makes any difference?
I have. Doesn’t really make a difference in my opinion! It does seem cool to put it there cause the. You don’t block the logo, but there’s no difference in feel. It just feels heavier!
2:32 - I've always installed the small, tapered end of the over grip first. Have i been doing it backwards the entire time? I thought I learned it from watching videos on TH-cam.
You probably did learn that way. 99% of people do it that way, but for me it makes no sense that way because you have to add a step. When you finish with the big end you need to cut the big end to look like the small end so it tapers off
@@pickleballplaybook That makes sense for finish, although I'm cutting either way because it's longer than needed. However, beginning the wrap with the large squared side requires you to wrap one full rotation around the bottom before adjusting your angle, which causes extra thickness at the very bottom. Maybe that's a personal preference to have a more flared bottom of the handle?
Almost every single paddle has a butt cap is what they’re called. These but caps come out further on the bottom anyway. So adding that little extra half rap doesn’t do anything, especially when pulled really tight. With the other way you have to cut your grip twice, this way just initially to make it shorter if you’re using a tennis grip. I should do a video on this at some point!
No idea haha sorry! For you it should be different anyway since we have different arms and bodies. I’d suggest trying multiple different weights and seeing how that goes 👍
@@pickleballplaybook Thank you for replying, honestly my level isn't yet to the point it would make much difference ha, but I sent to my 4.0 friend (also has same paddle) who is convinced adding any tape slows hand speed.
Nice video. Only thing to keep in mind is that adding weight to your paddle never increases hand speed. But the spot you add weight at the throat just affects swing weight the least. So say your paddle stock is 110 swing weight it may only go up to 112 so just very minimally slowing your hands. But greatly improves sweet spot, twist weight, and feel so it’s worth it for most folks.
Interesting. What if I put the weight close to my hand? I feel like distributing the weight closer to your hand should increase hand speed. Especially with a head heavy paddle?
@@pickleballplaybookit will “decrease the SW” compared to placing the weight elsewhere, but this person is right in that by adding weight in general, there is absolutely no way to decrease a paddle’s SW when adding weight. It may feel quicker depending on where you place the weight, but never faster than the paddle without weight
@@pickleballplaybookyeah, with the weight down at the handle, you may be able to torque the paddle better therefore leading to an increase in wrist lag and subsequently the whip speed. But in terms of actually just moving the paddle it won’t be any faster and will just be marginally slower
Here's something even cheaper than using cheap hand sanitizer. Simply soak the Hesacore Grip in warm water for a minute or two and it'll go on the paddle easily.
Are you still using the Luxx? If so, are you still happy with it? Just sold my labs 005, which never felt ballanced in my hand, and am ordering a Luxx this week.
Why don't players just wear a glove if they find their paddle grip slipping? I'm an ex racquetball player so I wear a glove and never have slippage issues.
I have no idea. One thing I like about the hesacore grip is that it fills my hand. If I just have a normal grip on there it leaves gaps that mess with my grip slightly and moves the bottom of my palm out of place of where it should be. Also gloves are generally viewed by most as quite nerdy too. I’d love to see why other people don’t wear gloves!
Like Austin mentioned in the video, it may be worth trying out the extra small, if the standard isn’t comfortable. A friend of mine uses the carbon hesacore, which is much more stiff than the others and isn’t comfortable for me.

Yeah, I can’t handle a soiled overgrip! Glad it’s been helping your game!

@@pickleballplaybook thanks for replying! That’s a bummer haha but glad you already tried it so we don’t have to waste tape.
Another pickleball TH-cam channel tested that and other locations. The result was that inside the hole was not helpful at all.
You remove the grip that comes on the paddle before putting on the hesacore, right?
Correct! It painful to see it go but it’s going to get soiled in 2 to 3 weeks anyway 👍

You're welcome
What if you have the Luxx Model S2 short handle ? do they have one for shorter handle?
shop.hesacore.com/pages/pickleball
They’ll all fit with the S2 except for the elongated hesacore grip. I’d suggest the tour grip!
It doesn't matter the size of the handle, it is how you use it. :)
Can the hesacore fit underneath the halo faux leather grip?
I have no idea. I’d imagine that’d be a tight fit though!
Can I get your short video on grip That is good for forehand and backhand? You shoe where place index finger and palm of your hand
It’s near the beginning of this video! Enjoy

How much weight total, or is it just one full length strip? I have the same paddle and just want to make sure I don't add too much or too little

I love the luxx. I use the amped invikta now but it’s very similar. Just gives me a bit more power
As a retired High School Health teacher, I couldn't help but chuckle as you slipped the condom I mean grip on to the handle. LOL!
😂🤣 it just looks wrong doesn’t it!
lol
1/2 the width of the tape
Yes
Half way means 50% overlap
❤️❤️❤️
Don’t you want to increase your twist weight for stability and sweet spot? Maybe you mis spoke or I am wrong.
Yes increase twist wait for larger sweetapot

bc most ppl don't want to marinate their hand in sweat

@bicyclethief these gloves "breath" so there's no marinating
so uncomfortable the hesacore...
That was my initial thought prior to getting one, but now I can’t play without it lol!
