Good stuff pal, I'm an engineer like yourself and after watching this video was wondering if you could incorporate a high potassium feed direct to the sumps. I've been playing with compressing comfrey leaves. It's very compact and easy to manage, simply using a 10ltr plant pot stuffed with leaves a weight on top of the leaves a 1 mm hole drilled in the side around 10mm off the base. Basically it just drips as the leaves break down. (Bonus is there is no nasty smell like the water method) really simple and effective. Food for thought.
@@silentallotmentgardener Hello Gareth.😄 I did something a few years ago using a 9 inch soil pipe and a flower pot full of concrete lowered on a rope… used to compress the comfrey leaves. I diluted the liquid 10:1. Had good results from it now I just use the comfrey leaves in a couple of barrels of water and use directly after about six weeks of stewing. I have also got used to the smell 🤣👍🏻
Excellent job mate. It probably works out a lot cheaper doing it your way than buying the self watering systems . It will be good if you ever go on holiday you won’t have to worry. All the best Nic👍🌶🌶🌶🌶

Nigel, this was a brilliant video and a lovely system. I have grown my tomatoes in pots in the greehouse, with the pots in washing up bowls so the base is always in water but I will be using your method from now! Well done mate xx.

Was that recently? I couldn't buy seeds in January, but got an email from suttons a month ago saying that they are now back delivering to NI. I have 8 quadgrows and am that impressed that I'd like to buy more.

This is one of the best and most useful videos iv seen for a while and if I can source the materials I may make the same sort of thing next year. One little thing, iv used similar trays in the past and gound they spread a bit over time . It may be worth putting a couple of bits of acrylic hlued to the underside to act as a stopper or fixing a support rod inside the tray . The trays may be stronger these days so only food for thought as they say . If I make one I'll try to do aswell as you snd put it on my channel.

Do you have the video for plot rotation and/or how to keep track of the seeds you sow in each plots as indicated at time 39:27 please? I wish to list out the veggies I grow in each plot. I have 12 plots altogether making about 3 acres. Thank you
although the pots are nt regular in shape , the measurements give a cubic capacity of approx 6270 cm3 .... divide that volume in cm3 by 1000 gives about 6 and a 1/4 litres volume.

I do both. Add liquid feed at each fill of reservoir (50% strength) and full strength feed into the soil about every 2 weeks
Did you say that you put gravel in the lower part of the pot when potting the peppers? About how many inches/centimeters?
