Escaping the Edinburgh rain to search for the colours of Autumn/Fall in Perthshire, Scotland

  • October was a terrible month for weather here in Scotland - rain rain rain, but even though the forecast for today was awful, we still headed out to see if we could cobble together some kind of video for you in a month that has otherwise been a write-off! Will we find ANY dry weather? And more importantly, will the colours of autumn (colors of fall) :) show us their full glory? Probably not...

I know I sound like a broken record but this is absolutely magnificent from start to finish. I love, love, love the little tunnels that you went through. I've come to the conclusion that I say the work that you do to make these videos for us it may be the wrong expression. The time you take to do these for us is great. Because you two certainly don't look like it's work. Happy autumn. Be well, stay safe, love from Texas.

The colours are beautiful in your video, Steve & Alicja. The waterfalls area looks great; I missed them when I was up that way years ago. Don't know if I'll get back there. I was reminded of my visit to that area by your interesting film. Sunny when I arrived late in the day, then dull for 3 days, then sunny again on my day of departure. I would have liked to have seen the Autumn colours under blue skies & sunshine. That is such a good part of Scotland for Autumn colour. Thanks for that.

I’ve hunted wild mushrooms for over twenty years. Before gradually losing my sense of smell, I can tell you Alicia is right, especially if they’re in abundance, they definitely add to the earthy aroma of the woods. Another excellent video! Editing, sound, music selection, dialogue, and videography…top notch!

Another wonderful reminder of our days in Scotland, absolutely stunning scenery and magnificent views over waterfalls, Autumn was my favourite time, the low lying clouds and mist added to the atmosphere, when you stopped to take a photograph Steve it was like looking at a massive patchwork quilt of Autumn shades, I couldn’t believe it when you finished up at the Queen’s View, one of the scariest ascents I have ever encountered on a bus in the pouring rain the bus wheels were inches from going over the edge of a very steep ravine, never again! but the view over Loch Tummel was Spectacular, and thank goodness we didn’t have to go back the way we came! 🥵thank you Steve and Alicja for another amazing journey back in time! 🤗

@@GalwayGirl1 good morning, I always thought Scotland in the Autumn 🍂 was magical, as I said it reminded me of a giant patchwork quilt of many colours, we used to stay at Queen Victoria’s Hunting Lodge, after it was re-built when it was burnt to the ground, and that was surrounded with the scenery Steve filmed, Alan and I used to walk miles even after his Parkinson’s began, I don’t know how he managed it, because if he had fallen over we would still be there, no mobile phones in those days! 😂🤣 don’t forget Chris’s amazing video! Just had a wonderful e-mail from Jersey Girl, she sends all Sassenach’s her love ❤️ until later 🤗👋

@@steve-marsh for dear life, honestly Steve I thought we were goner’s, I have only seen Alan’s face that colour green once, on our first ever flight ✈️ from EMA, where he worked! 😂🤣 I didn’t mention in my comm. we ended up on a bus trip many years after that that decided to include ‘Queens View’ in its itinerary at the last minute, we were stuffed 🥺 couldn’t get off bus 🚌 once it started it’s ascent! two green aliens this time! I often wondered what if another bus came down at the same time, couldn’t see any passing places, fancy living on such a road!, dustbin men must have asked for danger money 💰 lots of it! 😱

So easy to FALL for those autumnal colours. Like you we have been past those places on that stretch of the A9 so many times and not stopped, though during the summer months they have looked very busy. I must make the effort to pull over next time we are passing through. Did once walk the dog up a track just off the A9 on the B867. Goes up the hillside opposite Dunkeld with fantastic views on the right day.

Another great video Steve. Alicejes playful interactions made it a delight to watch. We have in India a town called Shillong, capital of the North East state of Meghalaya nicknamed the Scotland of the East because of its topography and rolling hills. I know it doesn't even come close to old Alba but that'll have to do for now for a remotely close experience. Looking forward to your next destination, I hope you'll show us the magic of the Isle of Man some time soon. Historical Point of Ayr and the Chasms should be a visual spectacle through your camera. I hope you will switch to 4K vids sooner rather than later. Cheers.

You didn't put the kayak in that river? Wusses! :P
Growing up in Perth, the Hermitage was (and still is) one of my favourite places. Worth going in salmon season to see them try and leap those falls; looking over that bridge, you'll see them resting in the pools underneath before having another crack at it. As for that coin log thing, I can't believe some enterprising Scotsman hasn't burned it to get all the money out :)
Killiecrankie, I remember mainly for the Little Chef (RIP), where my Great-Grandad (RIP) and little brother convinced the staff to bring them ice-cream and chips. Got in trouble off my mum once for shouting, "Look, they have a Grand Prix game!" I was 6, how was I supposed to know the pronunciation was French?!
And my grandad used to refer to coach tours as "tins of wrinklies" :D
