    Is there a way to move multiple cards from one vertical lane to another? I have one user who has 1000 plus records and all of them would need to be moved to the same vertical lane once I get updates as they all would be the same status. Moving one at a time is very time consuming. I'm new to this and appreciate the training you are providing. Thanks!!

    I use Visual Task Board to look over the Change requests logged in my group. The tickets are assigned to certain people which I can filter for. However, I am looking at the option to also filter on requestors as they wanna see only the tickets requested by them to track the progress. How can I do that please?

    Hi Justin, great video. Just had a quick question. Is there way to relate the board statuses to the actual task status? for example if I move it to the "Done" section, can it be automatically marked as complete in the system?

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there, first thank you for watching! You absolutely can do this and I show you how in the comment response video linked below. Essentially you'll want to create a "Data driven board" rather than a "Free form board" and then you'll get exactly that behavior. You can watch me talk about this further and show exactly how to create a data driven board in Comment Desk 002: th-cam.com/video/NNwENrHrS2E/w-d-xo.html

      @@JustinMeadows Thank you Justing that's just what I was looking for. I just have another quick question, do you know if its possible to create a data drive VTB for project risks? I can't find that task table option in servicenow. Thanks for your help!

      Yep that's the default behavior when you create one - only yours. An admin can get to it if they wanted but otherwise it's personal to you.

    Can you customize board items and what shows with info? I’ve been told no, that I cannot choose for a particular flow and it’s a global change affecting all catalog items. I’m researching to see if I can do it myself; data driven or freeflow.

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching jobzombi! An administrator can configure what shows on the individual cards but the last time I checked (which hasn't been recently) it was more of a global setting that impacted everyone. The only quick and easy thing you can adjust is to show more/less as I highlighted in this video. Having said that, since I made this video there's a newer feature in UI Builder or "Workspaces" that may or may not let you configure to this level (I'm betting it does). Consider it on my to-do list to find out!

    What license and plugins are needed for visual task boards?

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  ปีที่แล้ว

      Neither! This is a platform-wide feature and can be used by anyone with an existing license.

    How to apply a filter using a lane? In filters, I am not able to see the option "lane".
    Could you please help?

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi shaikh faiz, thank you for watching! I'm not aware of an ability to filter a specific lane on a VTB. All of the filters that I use apply to all the cards on the board. If it's a free form board, then the lanes are free form as well, meaning you have to manually put the cards in a lane (no automation) and you can label the lane whatever you want. If it's a guided board, then the lanes are automatic and they're based on some value on the record (state in most cases I've seen but it could be anything i.e., priority or another field on the record). So in short, any filters apply to the queried records and not the structure of the board. I hope this is helpful!

  • @leosandroni
    @leosandroni ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there any way to edit the filter on the top of the VTB? (filter by title...)

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Leo - thank you for watching! There's not a way that I am aware of to modify the filter in the version I show in this video. However, there is a new Kanban Board component in the Next Experience that I have on my to-do list to learn and then make a video. Because of your question here, I'm adding to that to be sure to include a custom filter as I'm sure it's doable, I just need to figure it out. Since that video isn't even near ready yet, here's a link to the developer documentation on the new functionality that I still need to learn. It's a bit technical but wanted you to have confidence in that this is probably possible in the new UI - developer.servicenow.com/dev.do#!/reference/next-experience/sandiego/shared-components/now-visual-board/overview

    is it possible for items to be added to a VTB automatically? e.g. any time a task is assigned to me, it appears in my VTB?

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, 100% yes! I go into even more detail in a video response to your question here: th-cam.com/video/XSwaH1He9h8/w-d-xo.html. The quick answer is you want to use a "Data Driven Board" for the tasks to show up automatically. You can have a board based on the type of task (catalog task, incident, problem, change, etc) or you can base your VTB on the root "Task" table which will pull-in all tasks from child tables. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!

    Hey Justin, just found your channel.
    Didn’t they use to have a hybrid board option?

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't personally seen a hybrid board option. There may have been versions of this before I started using them back in 2017 so can't say for sure. But.... the thought of something appearing on my board that I didn't put there is unsettling to me haha. I'm so accustomed to adding/removing what's on my to-do list I don't want to give other people or a system the ability to stress me out 😎

    how to automatically add a high priority label to a priority 1 incident/task ?

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  ปีที่แล้ว

      Love this question and thank you for watching! I didn't think this would be possible at first. But it turns out it is very possible! What I did was create a new flow that triggers off a new or updated record on the table vtb_card. Then I created a decision table to decide on different labels/tags. Once I had the label/tag, I created a new record on the label_entry table and it actually worked! I'm going to record a video of this tonight and post it tomorrow showing the use case I used for my VTB and then I'll create the flow and the decision table for your incident in the video so you can see exactly how to do it. Thanks for the inspiration!

    Is there a way to import Excel files and or documents into the vtb_task table of the Visual Task Board?

    • @JustinMeadows
      @JustinMeadows  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the VTB can show tasks and anything that extends the task table. So in theory you could import the spreadsheet to the task table or a table that extends the task table (like a custom table) and then that would work. But not documents unfortunately. There is a Kanban component in UI builder that may make this possible but I'm still trying to learn that new feature. Don't even have it working for myself yet .
