My family would always stop here our way back from Cleveland. Lots of meals were eaten here. Was a good place when it was open, I believe the other one that closed around that time was on the Tallmadge circle in Tallmadge.
I miss Big Boy so much 😥 We used to go to Elbys Big Boy in St Clairsville Ohio & in Wheeling WV. My sister even worked at an Elbys in New Martinsville WV too . I loved their strawberry pies and spaghetti & meatballs !
I used to eat at the Elby's in St C, too, when I worked for The Times-Leader, and the Elby's in downtown Wheeling and on old National Road in Elm Grove. Since I grew up in New Philly, I ate at the Elby's there, too, many times. Some of them had salad bars.....
Down in central Ohio it’s usually called Frisch’s Big Boy which are slowly disappearing too. It’s very good. Your nearest location will probably be Grove City, Ohio.
I used to go to that Big Boy. They used to have a Big Boy store in the front where you could buy merch. I still have a Big Boy bank that I bought there. Next door was a Rally’s. It then closed and I think became a flower shop.
I really enjoyed this video! We had an Elby's Big Boy here in Weirton,WV on the south end of downtown on Freedom Way. They had really great food! Have a KMartlicious Day! Have a Big Boylicious Day! Stay awesome!
I haven't eaten at a Bob's Big Boy since the late 80's at the old Gatlinburg Tennessee location. I think it closed sometime in the 2000's. Last time I was up that way the building was still there but it was empty. You just don't see many of those restaurants in the south.
Alot of the businesses in streetsboro relocated to be closer to the turnpike if you are ever in the Cleveland area we still have 2 Big boy's one on Brookpark the other on Granger near City view
There is an open one like 15-20 minutes from were you did your Edgewater video....its off W. 130th Street and Brookpark Road in Cleveland/Brooklyn,OH.....and another open one in another suburb of Cleveland...... Valley View,OH
i had a elby's big boy here in wilkes barre. closed in 2000 or 01. i remember the hot fudge sundae on their menus. torn down a few years later, lot was vacant for 15 years before a auto zone was built on that lot.
The Big boy's you mentioned that was once In the Stow/Silver lake area was demolished and replaced with a Wendy's! I ate there alot with my parents when we would go to Chapel Hill Mall back in the day!
I was in Streetsboro when this place was opened by Bob Norris, when he had this place, it was the Surrey restaurant, it burned, big boy perchested this property in 1994.
i haven't seen a big boys in years , not sure there are any in southwest Pa , it is a shame the building was neglected like that , glad you were able to film it while there is still something to film...thanks guys for doing your vids always enjoy
Hi Wally. I live in Streetsboro - used to live in McCandless, PA until early 2019. The old Big Boy is about 2 miles from our house but we didn’t get here until long after it closed so I can’t comment on the food. Unfortunately, I think many of the businesses in Streetsboro closed when they closed the Geauga Lake and Sea World amusement parks which were about 10 minutes away in Aurora. The building next door was most recently a LoanMax Title Loans place. It closed in late 2019. We love living here but there are a lot of closed businesses. But new ones like Slim Chickens are popping up regularly. Keep up the great work!
Raising Cane's is now across the street from Slim Chickens. And there are plans to build a Texas Roadhouse I believe on Route 14 near the car dealerships. An Aldi is also going up on that stretch ....I just ate at Ruby Tuesday's up the road today (Dec. 15)... !!!!
My family and I would go to the one in Bel Air, MD in the 80s. After they closed it became several different restaurants, its now currently a Miller's Ale House.
I have never been to a big boy restaurant other then shoneys which isn't a big boy company anymore. There is still close to 200 left in the usa and about 275 left in japan. So hopefully one day i will again. Love their merchandise though.
Wow, talk about a blast from the past! I haven't been to a Bob's Big Boy restaurant since the early-mid 90's when I was a kid. My parents and I used to go there back in the day, and I would always get their pancakes. The ones we had always had the Big Boy mascot standing outside too, which I always thought was pretty neat. I had no idea that there were any still around as late as 2010 or even some around today! If I remember correctly, they were a bit similar to Shoney's, as far as food and atmosphere goes. Anyway, thanks for another cool video!
Did some research because I was curious what it was too and I see that the other building was a place called Loanmax Title Loans. Looks like it closed at least a year ago since that's when the last review was.
Wallie, have you been to Mountaineer Mall in Morgantown, WV? There is a restaurant inside the mall that was called Lum's that was last occupied in the mid 1980s, that is still perfectly preserved, the last time I saw it in December, 2019. If you were interested in checking out an abandoned restaurant.
When I was a kid Washington PA had two. One was by the old Washington mall and then cici’s pizza took over. That closed years later. I believe the other was by the crown center mall but then demolished for bob evans?
That is true...the Big Boy on Chestnut Street was torn down and a Bob Evans is there now. The other Big Boy was near Washington Mall. The shopping centers on 19 finished off the mall.
Big Boys used to have a Breakfast Buffet., similar to Shoneys , they were famous for their hamburgers one looks like a Big Mac , & for their ice cream shakes .....
There was an awesome Elby’s Big Boy in Erie on 38th and Peach (and another on the East side), which was always packed. So sad when it closed many years ago. That poor Big Boy statue was stolen a few times due to pranks. It was found, once, at the Peninsula. 🤣. After that, it was bolted down. There is one in Lancaster, Ohio that is still open and doing well. Big boy and hot fudge ice cream cake! Come to Lancaster, Ohio, and visit Big Boy, Pizza Hut, and our dwindling mall.
We had Shoney's Big Boy here in Louisiana and my wife told me they had TJ's Big Boy in Syracuse, NY where she's from. They always had a statue of the Big Boy character in the artwork on the wall out front. Eventually the Big Boy was dropped and they just became Shoney's Classic American Food. The food was OK, but not great. The two in my are eventually closed, with one being torn down and a Jack in The Box built in its place. The building the other was in was remodeled and turned into of all things, a Twin Peaks.
We had a big boy close sometime after 2013 and has been closed awhile but they put a BIBIBIOP a krispie cream and a empty place for a business to move in
Down in the Carolina's we had them as "Shoney's". Only one of the Shoney's continued to keep the old "Big Boy" Statue outside its store and that was back in the mid-to-late '70s or at the latest, the early '80s for sure. Every Shoney's that I remember patronizing Post-2000 has pretty much since been Demolished except for one whose building survived unscathed and went on to become something else. As the old saying goes, the Food "was nothing to write home about" at least at Shoney's. Just So-So.
Shoney's was the former Big Boy franchise in the Carolinas and the Southeast, but they began to expand into Frischs, Elby's and Bob's territory so they dropped their Big Boy affiliation in the early 80's.
They closed out of nowhere..there lierally were diners eating and they came in and announced the store was closing thanked them for their loyalty said their meal was on the house and proceeded to take the signage down
There used to be an Elby's Big Boy in York, Pa that eventually got renamed to Bob's Big Boy. It sadly CV loses in the 1990s. The building was torn down and replaced with an Eat and Psrk. But then Eat and Park closed that location. The building currently holds a very popular local diner called Round the Clock Diner East. The o t5 iginla Round the Clock Diner sits along Route 30. Very close to Route 83. So your a hop skip and a jump away from both higjways. The last Bob's Big Boy I knew of closed in 2008. It used to be in the Sideling Hill Service Plaza along the Pennsylvania Turnpike. They tore down all the old service plazas and built new ones that resemble a food court in ypur local mall.
Wallie B, eat n park and big boy, same chain, you have them in pgh, unless the big boy closed on McKnight rd. in Ross two, had been their for over 40 years, really good food. In Ky, we have frisch's big boy here same statue man holding burger. Difference between the north & south, former Pittsburgher. Enjoy all of your video's keep up the great content, stay warm. you & kayla be safe.
There was a big boy bout 10 from my house that had closed but ours closed cause they threw enough money st them I guess and was going to become a urgent care I think it was and fell threw and sat empty since 2015 or 16 ish and there finally tearing most of it down and turning it into 2 different places a Krispy cream and a BIBIBOP Asian place from what I hear glad it's not just sitting empty
I live a city over and went to Big Boy all the time. Not sure why they closed it I believe the owner owned 3 of them in the area any they all closed. The abandoned building Next door was a FlowerRama flower shop.
She hasn't been to a big boys if there's one around somewhere still open she should go I like the big boy platter is what I would usually get or the fish and chips platter and some of the big boys used to have an all-you-can-eat breakfast and the buffet bar was kind of cool to put the salad in the different types of suits and my favorite fruit of the desert with that hot fudge cake it had to layers of cake with a slice of vanilla ice cream in the middle covered with hot fudge and top with whipped cream and a cherry definitely the bomb for dessert

Down in central Ohio it’s usually called Frisch’s Big Boy which are slowly disappearing too. It’s very good. Your nearest location will probably be Grove City, Ohio.
I don't even think this building is still there now.
My granny & dad took us there every weekend during orientation.
I used to go to that Big Boy. They used to have a Big Boy store in the front where you could buy merch. I still have a Big Boy bank that I bought there. Next door was a Rally’s. It then closed and I think became a flower shop.
There’s been a K- Mart here in Maryland that’s been closed since about 2010 .Enjoyed watching 👍👌✌️
@BadDriversOfTennessee 👍
This is now an urgent care ,the third location was in the tallmage circle

Big Boy yumm! Even though the last time I went there was sometime in 80's.
This place is in some rough shape. Great video of a unique looking place!

Visit a big boy if your out in the Toledo area. And there’s a few in Cleveland Ohio
The old Big Boy restaurant in Glen Dale, WV is now a car dealership. You can still make out where the Big Boy symbol on the front.
Bob's Big boy's is similar to Eat N park which I heard was once the Pittsburgh division of Big boy's
The building next door, when first built was a Rallys restaurant.
Yes, Rally's was beside the Big Boy in Streetsboro. Before they built Rally's there was a Red Barn there !!!
I sure miss Big Boys...I remember the buffet and my baby brother always have to have the spaghetti 🤣 what memories of baby brother being small
We had a big boy close sometime after 2013 and has been closed awhile but they put a BIBIBIOP a krispie cream and a empty place for a business to move in
Nailing the Big Boy? Kayla was pretty calm about that admission.
I was eating and I laughed so hard.
I ate at a big boys that was near Cincinnati in 2009. The breakfast buffet was slammin'.
