Makes me wonder at the service life of the hellcat engine. Most of the time the owner wrecks the car before 100k on the odometer. I’ve seen a 6.4 hemi make it to 236k
Yeah that’s a good question. Based on what they are saying and the development of these engines, I don’t see why they wouldn’t last a long time just like a 6.4 or 5.7. They have heavier duty parts/internals too
I know someone who made it to70k no problem drifting and mods, only blew up because at 1xxx rwhp on a drag tune, the stock internals could not handle drifts, I bet if u kept it stock it would last 150xxx+
Highest one I’ve seen was a 2016 model with 120k it looked like new at least to my knowledge ran perfectly had two inches of rubber buildup on the rear fenders so it was getting used. Also so satisfying to clean that off
Really wish Dodge / Chrysler would of come out with the 426 in a production car at least for one year , Yes the 392 was a Hemi back in the day but the 426 was way more iconic .
The fellas at my local roadcourse in Tx said SRT tested the Hellcat for cooling… running flat out for 20 minutes at a time on track. SRT brought in a few ZL1s… which were puking guts on track while the Dodges were still trucking. 😂
I would love to see a video showing the ranking of the horsepower output of the different SRT engines. I have the 6.1 Hemi but as the different engines are configured it might be 9th down on the list. Wish I had held off a couple of years to get a 6.4. My list would be viper, 2 different Demon’s, 4 different Hellcats, and the 6.4. Love the videos and can’t wait for Chrysler’s at Carlisle next month.
I wish Dodge kept the 6.1l Hemi in the lineup along with the rest of the engines it could’ve been placed right between the 5.7l and the 6.4l Hemi. They could’ve kept the 6.1l N/A and attached that HP90 A8 transmission it would’ve been a great car in the line up because the 392 makes more HP and torq than a 6.1l the only thing keeping it back would be that 8 speed trans and they would be closer than you think I believe the 392 would still beat it stick for stock on average with hood drivers with bad drivers it could be a toss up. It would be perfect because I hate how GM and Ford have so many engines in their performance lineup and Dodge only has 3 and the top one is the only that gets love the rest get nothing but when it’s Dragpak time they always come back to the smallest engines
5:57 So it has more in common with the 6.1 &5.7L & truck versions of the 6.4L engines than the 6.4L car version ? 🤔.. or at least spec wise in bore and stroke. .
People hate on the hellcat and mention how built cars can easily outrun it but built cars don’t usually come with the longevity dodge ensures with hellcats. Built cars aren’t usually good daily drivers. Built cars require a lot of down town… while the hellcat is still on the road. Built cars don’t have factory warranties and are hard to fully ensure. This is coming from someone with a built car. Yes it costed less but being able to pull a hellcat off the lot probably feels just as good as firing up a build. I still want one although my mustang is faster 😂
David Freiburger called it prior, during a webshow/podcast Motor Trend round table interview (Wide Open Throttle) back in 2011/12: "If Dodge wants to be somebody with the Hemi, they need one thing: BOOST!"
At the end of the day it’s a 6.4 base build basically if you think about it that way. But the 6.4 internals can’t handle much boost (everything tends to break at 600+ HP) and definitely not 11.6psi of boost or to get to 700hp. So they essentially upgraded all the internals and then made the displacement less as thats better for supercharging
42 minutes of shakedown is nice. Look most cars this cheap kake abuse as a hellcat does. People beat the living hell of them cars and you wont see a ford or chevy do it! Like the people that own them beat the living hell out of them with little or no problems out of them!
Unreal engineering. Hats off to these guys for building a Unreal car to drive!!!

Thanks for watching, I appreciate the kinds words!! 😃
Simply a bad ass piece of engineering!!!
Wow, this video really opened my eyes to the incredible engineering behind the Dodge Hellcat

Great video! Thank you for putting it together!
The best power train ever made
If I had the money I would get a top of the line ram (limited I think) and swap this motor in. The most luxurious truck with all the power!
Or just grab a Ram 1500 TRX 😀 that’s one unbelievable truck

The Hellcat is the most menacing muscle car on the road, especially in wide body form. Nothing can compare.

Do you anticipate them keeping the Hellcat around as a crate engine after 23’ even if they’re discontinued as a production engine?
It was made to Go fast again bring back muscle
Hopefully I can get my hands on a Hellcat someday. For cheap 🤣
That’s what I’m hoping for too 😅
good thing they’ll be available to buy for pretty much at least 20-30 more years
Well after the 2013-14 gt500 and gt500 super snake, zl1 and c6 zr1 they needed to step their game up. 😁
We getting any updates on your charger 👀

I am working on it actually! Hopefully out tomorrow

0:43 5:19 so.. similar specs .

Big 6 litres 700 hp 22mpg. Now can't these same engineers produce small 3 liter 300 hp.44mpg ??!!!!!!
Any idea what kind of torque and hp they’re running without boost on the set up?
Why does this matter now ?
I guess I missed it but why didn't Dodge use the 6.4L Hemi for the Hellcats?

@@MarspeedCars Oh ok, gotcha gotcha. 👍
@@Modine. they wanted a shorter stroke so they engine would Rev up quicker and build boost quicker
All I know is the S197 GT500 was eating everyone’s(camaro challenger) lunch year after year so Dodge needs to do something about, glad they did.
