It's not an eyesore. Fast flow stitching is just anything, it's not meant to be drawing anything in particular.... it's about zoning out, going anywhere and feeling creative. You rocked it Tina!! Always be you..we all love you 💜

I agree with Holly, you've been doing free motion sewing all along. Your master board seeing is it. You're not seeing straight lines. You're doing good. Keep it up. Don't stop and don't be so hard on yourself. You're learning. Thumbs up to you.

Hi Tina, you definitely have the right idea of free motion quilting. I’ve been sewing since I’m 9 years old and I’m 65. So it’s been a while 😉. I’m also a quilter and have done a lot of free motion quilting/sewing on my quilts. I could never sew the way you do using the button. I think using the foot pedal is so much easier. You have so much more control.
The few stitches you do at the beginning are locking stitches so the thread doesn’t unravel. When you said maybe you should use the foot pedal, I was telling you, yes you should, but I guess you couldn’t hear me 😂. I liked your idea though using the smaller card on the post card and putting fabric on the back. I can’t wait to see how you decorate them. I think you did a great job and if you do decorate them further, they will be even prettier than they are now. Hugs 🤗

Love that you allways try to do your very, very best. 🤗💕
In this case for fast flow stitching it's about give your brain a break, don't control and don't think to much ( that's the hardest part I think 🥴).
Let it go - let it flow. 🎈🌸🎈🌸🎈

Oh Tina you did such a good job, free motion is not easy and as you say it takes lots of practice. You may find it easier with the foot pedal it’s all about the speed of your hands and foot together. Love the ruffles on the edge just finished them off. Thanks for doing it on video for us . Great job. X

I don’t understand, why you think these are hideous. For a first timer they are jolly good, you should be proud, buying a new foot and giving it ago, when you suffer from anxiety at the best of times. They are not hideous, they give character and texture, loved this. Thank you xx😁❤️🧚🏾‍♀️🌺

I agree, if you use the foot pedal you can adjust your speed and it will look better, and you will feel better. But you are doing great. And Its awesome to step out of our comfort zones. Great Job!

    • @julieprince77
      @julieprince77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Here is some Positive constructive criticism.... I also think the black thread is too dark on some of them, and would probably look better to use white or cream color maybe? Or maybe a color that matches some of the color images on the colored ones. You just need practice. And self confidence! Some of them looked great. I love sewing on projects. And sometimes I think the messy look is better than a neat look. Please try not to be so negative and hard on yourself. You had the courage to try something that was difficult and way outside your comfort zone and to do it on camera for us all! Be proud of yourself. You will only grow from here. And also, if you find out that this type of thing is not your cup of tea after trying several times, there would be nothing wrong with realizing your limitations either, Its growth to learn limitations also. But I think you will do great cuz they already look pretty darned great to me.

You did great! Free motion stitching is used most often in quilting to create a design while anchoring all of the layers together. To use it on paper is a whole other thing! You're showing people it's ok to jump in and try something that is new and uncomfortable! I think you did great! You were correct when wondering if you'd have more control with a pedal. It let's you speed up and down depending on your design and materials. 3 cheers for you!!!

I'm loving this collaboration. Tina love everyone has used their normal foot and just did squigly sewing! Nobody else I've seen has dropped their feed dogs either. I think you've worried a little much sweetheart as you've done fast flow before. Lol you're doing it fine lol you should have just watched Joie or Luise. Yeah you can stop and start with your. Oh bless you, you're doing exactly what you need to! Free motion is more precise but this is fast flow. You're right to secure the fabric first as it would slip around. I have to say you're very brave doing a video when you're that nervous 🤗🤗. Honestly just watch Luise and you'll see you've done fine, you're too hard on yourself🤗🤗🤗. Shorter stitch length should tidy your zigzag up. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖

Free motion is best done with a foot pedal because you can control the speed at which you stitch. The other thing to keep in mind is to keep your speed consistent which will help you to have the same stitch length throughout your piece. Practice makes perfect is the saying to go by! I also believe that this collaboration was not meant to create perfection but rather to try out something new and put your own personal spin on it and most of all just to have fun! You are way to hard on yourself Tina, you did great!

I was out of general purpose needles and had to use an embroidery needle made by
SCHMETZ. I compared needles and found out that the embroidery needle has a much more pointed tip, which you need for embroidery because the stitches are so close to each other. I also found out that you don't get the high bumps on the back of the paper/cardstock.

Tina, “appalling” “eyesores” are kind of the point. The randomness and messiness are part of the charm to me. True that other people’s are more regular or fluid, or whatever, but this is a different take on it. If you had owned this and declared it was your intent, I would have totally ‘bought it’. And your postcard idea is really original. But i think this is just outside your comfort zone, although by the end you seem to be embracing the whole thing. Good for you.

The tension is needs to be a bit higher with thinner materials. You can see on the back that the bobbin thread is not being pulled up into the plane of the paper. I grew up sewing, so I tend to what to help with these types of things. You've got the gist of free motion, though! :)

I am going to definitely try to figure out how to do this on my $99. Cheap Brother. No buttons all knob's. I have got to find some universal self threading machine needles 🪡 for it and the old Kenmore. I can't see good enough to get it through the hole. Not even with the little metal thing that is supposed to help, have to see to get some thread through.

Agreed. I put my tension on setting 4 at least on my Elna. For sewing on paper that is. Normally I go with 2 or maybe 3, depending on the fabric I’m using.

I don’t know if anyone has said this yet but to really see free form I have to lower the feed dogs on my machine. Feed dogs are the rough metal pieces under your sewing foot that grip and help push your fabric along. There is a button on the back of my Brother machine behind the sewing foot area I push to the side and it lowers the feed dogs. Hope this helps

So glad you bought the free motion foot for your sewing machine:) Did you have your stitch length on "O" (zero)? Very neat video!!

Why did you not use fabric I would think that would be easier and you could go from one side to the other and different lines instead of just going around in a circle

Sometimes we want to get out of our comfort zone and try something new , even when it’s hard. I think Tina’s succeeded brilliantly- I love her results and, to me, better for not looking “perfect”.

Tina, baby girl. I just love you. WE love you. Now come here so I can grab you by the shoulders and shake you. STOP talking to and about yourself the way you do. It absolutely hurts my heart to hear you describe your work the way you do. You are a beautiful woman both inside and out who is, apparently, more gifted and talented than you realize. Oy woman! Try as hard as you possibly can to see yourself the way we do. I read the comments... I see how many people you inspire, both newbies and oldies. So knock that trash talk off or honest t' Pete I'll fly there myself along with 500 more of your subbies and have a word or two with you in person and I don't think you want THAT now, do you? Love and hugs, MK ❤🤗🏜❤

Thank you so much MK for your kindness, it really means so much to me, oh and made me chuckle too as your comments always do. Hope you’re doing great xx

It's not the worst looking circle. Free motion stitching is FUN! Yes, there are people who are quilters who can draw with it with accuracy, that's not me. I love the mess I can make with free motion. So you just go ahead and love whatever happens. Thanks for your videos! It may not be your tension (although it could), it. could be the speed you push it around. You just have to practice to get a feel for it.

I think your biggest problem is that embroidery foot that you’re using. Barbara at 49dragonflies used the regular foot and she had no issues. I think you have done free flow stitching in the past, just didn’t know that’s what it was called. That foot makes everything run amok.

Free motion is anything other than straight lines not just circles and as someone else mentioned its similar to when you do your masterboards......Tracie didn't do perfect circles at all.... and she had 3-4 attempts she wasn't happy with. I thought you all did amazingly well and stop always putting your attempts down be more positive! x

It's good to show mistakes and working around them. I honestly think you may have started with too small of materials for this first go round. Try larger pieces for a while 🥰
