Great choice - reaction. Oh man if u had the subtitles!! OK.. this is a poem in praise of Ali bin abi talib ( Ali son of Abi talib), cousin & son in law of the Prophet of Islam, and other prominent members in his family. In the second largest sect in islam - the Shia’s - he is revered spiritually on another level and is regarded as a vice regeant like Aaron was to Moses, Ishamael to Abraham etc. Usually the words are mystical, magical and meaningful. The word used often and at the end ‘Maula’ - has its own dictionary in terms of what it means -but basically is another title for Hazrat Ali. Nescafe, coke studio in fact anything out of the subcontinent in terms of music soon defaults to such peans to personalities (usually religious) and the names u have become familiar with - Nusrat ji, Rahat ji, Abida Parween ji are all proponents of this ‘sufi’ kind of poems and music- of course getting upgraded to include new arrangements as time goes by. There’s a few others - but do listen with subtitles next - it’ll just increase the pleasure for u....happy listening.
