The song itself is very old.. it was originally sung by Abida Parveen. This music genre is known as "Dhamaal" in Pakistan... which is a spiritual Sufi singing or what you call as Sufi Whirling. If you have seen scenes from Old Pakistani films from 1960s or 1970s, the actress whirls and shakes her head... when performing Dhamaal.. as if in Spiritual Trance... and sometimes put snake around her neck.

      @ascorpio1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

You can see it live here at an event in Pakistan. People actually lose their consciousness / senses doing a Dhamaal and have to be controlled by others to stop hurting themselves. th-cam.com/video/SihdsEzawaU/w-d-xo.html

I'm glad you enjoyed this performance. Growing up in Karachi, Pakistan, I attended several of Abida Parveen's concerts, where she would often end with this powerful devotional song. Experiencing it live was nothing short of magical-it was impossible to remain seated. There was no need for a standing ovation because the entire audience was already on their feet, many immersed in 'haal,' a trance-like state of spiritual ecstasy. The energy was always so intense that it took time for us to return to reality. Truly an unforgettable experience! Tahseen is really talented, but to this day, no one can commands an audience like the queen of sufi music Abida Parveen!

Lyrics of the second Sufi poem (Gho-om Cha-rak-na) written by 16th century Sufi poet Shah Hussain in Punjabi language. They did not sing the whole poem here but it is given below:
"Turn (Ghoom), o spinning wheel (Charakna),
    Turn, long live your weaver
Who weaves the yarn of love
    Shah Hussain is old
    With wrinkles all over
At dawn he looks for those
    Who have left their hearth
    With every movement
Vibrates the name of the Master
    With every beat
    There is perfect union
    There is perfect communion
The spinning wheel echoes His name
Every heart beat follows its strain
    Shah Hussain, the faqir, prays
It is you, it is you
    It is the same refrain!"
In this context spinning has the meaning for whirling of dervishes (sufi practitioners) and also the spinning of time. The real meaning is always between the lines for the listener to interpret and the station of the listener in his/her quest
It's a beautiful metaphor, spinning the yarn of my heart with the wheel of love and devotion.
Don't keep digging too much. This stuff can pull you in too deep :)

That big marching band kind of drum is referred as "DHOL". Mostly used in Punjabi songs. Dhol is a percussion instrument made of wood, brass, leather, cotton, parchment and metal.

I think now you should delve into Pakistani Drama Industury's OSTs (Original Soundtracks). You'll not only enjoy the outstanding music, but also see the look of Pakistan through their official visuals.
Some of the best recomendations are:

Ghoom Charakhra: This poem was written by a sufi poet & saint Shah Hussain. And has been sung by a number of singers. Still people found tranquility in listening to this sufi music
    Ghoom charakhra charakhra
    Spin, spinning wheel!
Ghoom charakhra saainyyaan da teri kattan waali jeewe
Spin, Lord’s spinning wheel, long live the one who spins You
    Kattan waali jeewe
Long live the one who spins You
    Lariyaan kattan wali jeevay
Long live the one who spins Your strands
FYI: the spinning wheel can metaphorically mean the unstoppable circle of time or the whirling dervishes or the wheel of love and devotion.

Yes, this track is Abida Parvern's cover. This was Abida Parveen's first super hit during the eighties.
Spiritual and mystic musical pieces are usually referred to as kalams or kaafis.
Ghoom in our language means going round.
    Charakhra is a spinning wheel.
This is a mystic kalaam by Shah Husssin., one of the great Sufis of our land..
So there is a concept of Whirling just like they hsve in Turkey by the followers of Rumi.
The Mehran Valley and the land of South Punjab of Pakistan had a lot of sufis.
The city of Multan is called the City of Sufis. 🤗

Lyrics of the first Sufi poem (Gha-Ro-Li) written by Sachal Sarmast (true mystic) whose real name was Abdul Wahab Farooqui, a Sufi poet, writer and philosopher in the 1700's from province of Sindh who wrote poetry in 7 languages and who I love (just look at the last name)
"I fill this earthen vessel with love for my Beloved
I fill this earthen vessel with love for my Lord
I fear only the wrath of Allah
I fear only the wrath of my Lord"

That one is pure qawali without any modern musical embellishments, yet still blows you away with its energy and the godlike skill of the singers.
