I prefer to buy in person after I try items on at the thrift store. The good news about buying used is that the items are often already laundered. Given the poor quality of new clothing these days, one never knows if the clothing will be in one piece or shrunk up to the size of a child after being washed. What I like the least is to buy new online, because, as you mentioned, they don't ethically deal with returns.

I also prefer thrift in person. You know exactly how it fits and it's more sustainable. Unfortunately where l live there are not that many thrift stores so online second hand platforms are still my go to

Everything that has a trace of perfume or cigarette smell. Never goes away.

I didn't think at that but that's so true! I noticed that some sellers started to specify that they are no smokers, which is good.
