I'd add good quality mid-range and even luxury handbags to your list. My local consignment shops are filled with 2nd hand synthetic trendy clothes but have a surprisingly good selection of high quality mid-range and luxury bags which are 25 to 50% of the cost of buying new. Just look at the piece - check carefully as you would anything else to make sure the leather, hardware and lining are the quality and in the condition you're willing to accept. I've found new-with-tags-and-dust-bag for half-price and I'm really unsure if there's a bag anywhere I'd be willing to pay full retail for at this point.

To me its certsin light grrens the paler ones although there are shades thst dont have this issue And mist ahades of grey And sone verry vibrant blues like cyan or cariniam Royal blue Corn flower blue basicly all the blues that look like they are glowing Same for red dsrker and desaturatet ahades work but no vibrant fire red same for orange and brown the more washed out the sahade ls the better it looks Beige also doesnt work Also no snow or paper whute natural cotton white or any warmer off white is fine Ki d of an itony though i csnt wesr beige jet off white is just fine and i csnt wesr grey but most colors suit me better if a bit desaturated All white shirts thst i hqve(im a guy so scrafs arent sn option) are raglan t-shirts with a black shoulder and neck line so When it comes to suits i simply never wesr a white formal shirt

Ibthinknthis turtle neck is unflattering cluse of the shape it creates but luckely fashion sence is individual

I prefer to buy in person after I try items on at the thrift store. The good news about buying used is that the items are often already laundered. Given the poor quality of new clothing these days, one never knows if the clothing will be in one piece or shrunk up to the size of a child after being washed. What I like the least is to buy new online, because, as you mentioned, they don't ethically deal with returns.

I love an about 2-inch, block heel for daily wear, but would never wear high heels (3-inches or higher), especially stilettos, for daytime, they’ve never been considered appropriate. I have never worn high heels at all and neither has anyone else here in San Francisco for 30 or 40 years, even for evening.

My objection to denim is based on comfort as well as style, denim is thick, hot, stiff and rough, it just doesn’t feel good, and jeans’ waistbands are hideously uncomfortable. Denim is more casual than I like and here in the US, almost all jeans are super-scruffy looking.

I agree, I don’t actually like or wear cotton t-shirts that much. I prefer something like a silk jersey top, it’s more polished-looking. I don’t like denim, either.

I have the Lily Silk sailor blouse and the navy sailor trousers. I can’t wait to wear them, I’m getting the trousers shortened this week. I always enjoy a bit of nautical style in spring and summer, and this outfit is subtle, not costumey. Love your silk scarf❤

I think the little collar on the H&M blue shirt is out of style, too. The classic collars on the RL shirts look so much better. I have tried many H&M woven cotton items and I don’t thnk they wash or iron well at all.

I couldn't agree more! I feel simultaneously overwhelmed and abundant when I view my home from this perspective, as well as keeping the saying "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without" the "make it do is often already somewhere in the house.

The biggest mistake of the minimalists is assuming people would consider human rights when they're shopping for a new shirt on Black Friday at Zara. They're either stupid or refuse to acknowledge that sustainability will never succeed because it would be the end of fashion industry, and that's unlikely to happen. Ever.

We are faced with numerous micro decisions daily but choosing what to wear each day is a pleasurable decision for me and a means of expressive myself. A capsule wardrobe is akin to wearing a uniform...boring and soul destroying. I love clothes too much and choose what I love with quality in mind, and as a result many of my clothes I have worn for years.

I waffled on putting a capsule together, for many of the reasons you listed. BUT, I did finally force myself to create an early fall capsule that I could pull from 95% of the time. I enjoyed the process of finding things in my closet that went well together in terms of natural fabrics and colors, and I had plenty to wear for my daily life. The weather, though! There are only 4 months out of our year that we have consistent seasonal temperatures. The rest of the time it is all over the place and I end up grabbing things out of my storage and putting them back, or I change mid-day. I think I have decided it isn't that important, and like you, I am working to just have less and make sure I love everything or it pairs well with what I love.

Sometimes it feels that there is an overglamorization of minimalism, especially the aesthetic side of it. And it leads to us throwing away perfectly useful things and replacing them with brand new things that are more aesthetically minimalist. Which is counter to the whole point of minimalism!

some people just want to live like they are on vacation all the time. i experienced this when i was a truck driver and also with another employer that flew me to different cities every week. if you hardly ever get home what's the point of having a residence ?

Totally agree. To me is more about: stop the decluttering and wear what you have.
