Im very happy with my ARC, been using it alot and I love the toolset, it’s like a lovechild between my Free P4 and Wave+. Mine had a decent grind but I still choose to regrind it to my own preference instead and it’s been performing great. Seen a few of my friends get duds that they had to return though, one had a horrible grind and another had bad wire cutters along with really ugly logo stamping which should not be the case for such a premium tool. Awesome video as always!👌🏻
That’s wild that people have gotten duds! I’m definitely liking mine a lot although it’s making me want to get more multi tools even tho this should be the one and done but it’s almost sparked me to want to collect more haha
I bought one, loved the tool, but the sissors sucked so bad I sent it in for warranty repair! It had a problem even cutting open plastic wrappers on snack food. I sure hope when it gets back it is better, if not I will still keep it for the rest of the tools. I just think for the price it should work flawlessly!
I love the video. I actually laughed out loud. I sold off some knives and I'm still working on selling some others as since I started caring the ARC, I stopped carrying my knives. Now that I have the Obsidian, I am not looking back. Great video!
Thank you! Ya it’s pretty impressive how much a good multitool can take over the whole edc. My dad actually did stop carrying a knife when he got his one and done multitool
I am working on an augmentation for the Arc, which allows an Arc owner to carry the Arc's blade as a separate friction folding pocket knife. The idea is oriented to UK and similar markets where there is legislation against carrying a locking blade knife in public. It could also be of use to someone flying domestically in the USA with check-in luggage. They may carry the multitool on the flight, sans blade, keeping the blade usable during travels, inly checked in for the flight. I am documenting the development of this product on my channel. Please drop by if you're interested!
@barbarianbraunny the surge snapped one entire side of the plier off trying to bend plastic. I know have knipex cobra pliers 5", a t handle ratcheting bit driver from fix it sticks, bit kit and extender, K390 wharncliffe delica, and soon ill be adding a bunch more. Im probably going to end up making a sleeve for it all. Perhaps 3d printed to start and then a tegris version later. I want it to be flat and fit in a cargo pocket easy. I'll add a t shank saw either made from a bosch lifting rod and kurled sleeves or get a Renegade MicroLight saw. And then ill add what i find i need. Maybe cordage around the four walls, maybe micro sciccors of some kind, etc. Not sure what the rest will be but i will hone in on it.
The obsidian in Canada including taxes costs $431. They only give you one of the two bit kits so you have to buy that for some stupid reason. And you may as well buy the ratchet driver to since money clearly doesn't matter at this point. Thats $47 and $55 with tax. So all in this tool costs $533..... Im sticking with my Wave+ that price is stupid
I’m in the same boat do I need to carry a pocket knife if I have the arc with magnacut blade. Since my arc I barely carry a pocket knife I’m debating on selling my knives but keep maybe one or two.
I’m only half serious. I definitely could use the arc and be content but I love collecting knives and love to rotate so I have been carrying the arc and another blade in the other pocket lately

Not quite, but the steel is one grade down and the fit and finish is nearly as good. I’m hoping this makes pleatherman wake up and drop prices and get quality back to where I used to be. I would like to support USA made but pleatherman made in china assembled in USA.
The Gen R from Rocktol has a vg10 blade and a large scissors $55 last I looked. Comes with a small bit kit but the bits are standard size so if you have any bits from a drill or anything else they will fit.
Fun to watch 😅 the Obsidian immediately caught my eye. We have a bunch of Victorinox Spirit Tools, others like Dime, LM Micra and an almost 30years old OG Leatherman I got, when starting in TV production in recent years added bunch of SAKs, some modded- for those pics on Insta. This is a safe queen, collector multitool . I wanna see someone beat the living snot out of one of these before id even consider spending the $400.00🇨🇦. This is no more rust resistant than the Rebar I’ve had for a decade which has been through hell and has zero rust. If you’re buying a multitool for the knife just buy a knife. Sorry but pound for pound id take a $70 2024 Bond redux with cerakote or even two of them and keep $225 in my pocket. Just my two cents, to each their own, good to see others perspectives on these items. 🤘😎🙏

I will definitely be coming back to this tool after using it for quite some time to give a “review” video. But you do have me curious about this Bond Redux so now I want to check that out! My pst from 1990 still tighter than the arc which is old as i could t stand the crappy tolerances. Glad i have enough charge g10 and tti and never have to buy a POS free series tools
Yes. The end as LM was intended. They makes tools for collectors and not for working anymore. Who wants a tool for real job they buy It BIBURY or ROXON. They stops innovating tools for real Life and made jevellery for collectors
@@Maxvigna I can certainly see that. I’ve talked to a lot of guys on the farm or in the trades. The common reply from my buddy’s are “everything breaks” “I won’t spend that much for something I may lose in the hole or job site” so I think that kind of where you’re going as well. I’m a collector and a user so I see both sides. I always am a huge fan of leatherman but if you’ve seen any of my other videos you see there are other tools that I also like.

I recommend the bibury or rocktol clones of the surge or wave that actually made it better, with barely less quality steel and almost as good fit and finish for 50$. Has warranty for 5 yrs or something. U can buy like five of them to one pleatherman.
I've had two Arcs. Both failed miserably. Massive frame flex, wire cutters broke on hay bailing wire (which even Gerber has no issues with), blades came dull and wouldn't take or hold an edge, scissors on the Obsidian can't even cut thread, bits sit super loose in the driver, and the bottle opener is useless. Plus the Obsidian's sheath is trash. I've had my Obsidian a week and the stitching on the belt loop is already coming undone. Arc is Leatherman's worst tool by far. I sold my original Arc but the Obsidian was a gift so I have to keep it. That being said, I'll take my Charge+ TTI over the Arc any day because it's superior in every way, including the blade's edge retention because the Arc's steel is far too soft. Magnacut needs to be at 63+ HRC and the Arc, I can guarantee is under 60 just by the lousy edge retention and the fact that it doesn't sharpen up for squat (My Magnacut blades that are properly heat treated hold an edge for a really long time and are crazy easy to sharpen)
Wow! That is crazy yours wasn’t good! Which Gerber do you like? I’ve got a few that I’ve thought were pretty good. The leatherman charge p definitely has the upper hand when it comes to the wire cutters. As far as the sheeth I use the 1791 sheeth and haven’t used the one it came with
