Love how concise the video is. Thank you for breaking it down into sections. It's like having video version of a rulebook. Thanks!

They’re card sleeves. Pretty sure the ones I used for Mage Knight are Ultra Pro like these

This is a fantastic series but wow. As a newcomer to board games I have to ask how hobbyists have a room full of these and manage to grasp every rule and nuance to hold game sessions. As oppose to a video game where all of this game flow is programmed.

For me the challenge of learning the games and getting the rules right is half the fun of tabletop gaming. If I play a solid 12 hours of video games, by the end my brain almost feels atrophied even though I had a blast the whole time. But if I play 12 hours of tabletop games, even though my brain is exhausted, it feels like it got a workout and I had a blast too.
I’d say the best thing you can do it take it slow. If I had tried to learn Mage Knight early in the hobby I probably would have gotten very frustrated by it. I had been in the hobby about 4 years before I attempted it and pretty quickly fell in love with it.
The second most important thing…don’t beat yourself for getting rules wrong. I for sure got a bunch of MK rules wrong in the beginning. If I realized it midplay I would make any adjustments I could to make it right and then keep moving on. Having fun is the prime directive!
And by the way these two pieces of advice are for tabletop gaming in general. Not just playing Mage Knight.

@@BoredOnlineBoardOffline Well, I just spent a hundred bucks on Mage Knight, I'm invested lol. My wife and I are gonna play tomorrow night. We do play tactics / turn based video games like Divinity and Baldurs Gate, so not *total* newcomers. At least I know to set aside a few nights before we get into the swing of this one. Thanks!

Nice! Welcome to Mage Knight! I’d love to hear about your first experience with it.
Sounds like you might be more like my buddy, Ryan, than like me. Ryan’s very first tabletop purchase was Kingdom Death and now he’s DEEP into the hobby. If I had taken on something like KDM first I don’t think I’d still be playing board games lol. But now KDM is my favorite of all time!
