I made this cake a few weeks ago for a birthday party. It came out fantastic. I wish I could send you a picture of it. The birthday girl, who by the way is a wine lover was surprised and very happy with her birthday cake. Thank you for the lesson. I will continue to follow you to get me great ideals.
You do very good work always following your tutorials I'm a self taught baker and I do pretty good baking and decorating cakes I will be making this cake thanks so much
I am definitely not a baker but your tutorial ate so easy to follow...so I will be trying to my first cake today for Easter.. hopefully it turns out as lovely as your cakes do lol
Watched this while having some merlot & just decided to make oatmeal choco chip cookies. There aren't any wine and baking vids on youtube, but i genuinely enjoyed this 😊🍷 cheers ♡
Thank you for this video! I also watched your ganache video but I’m wondering what mix of food coloring colors do you use to achieve the “red wine” color?
I know this comment is old, but hopefully it helps others! Try using cake strips on your cake pans, you can find them on Amazon or tutorials on here to make your own from wet paper towels and aluminum foil. Also cut a piece of parchment paper to fit your pan and use bake easy spray under and on top of the parchment paper. I used to have a lot of problems with getting cakes out until I saw someone mention bake easy spray along with parchment paper.
HI CHELSEY, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IN YOUR RECEIPE FOR THE COLOR GANACHE ON THIS CAKE U MENTIONED BLACK GEL FOOD COLOR, DO U USE JUST THE BLACK GEL FOOD COLOR OR BLACK & RED THANK YOU
👏👏👏well done great job 👍I have a question how'd you make the marble raspberry and vanilla cakes? is that raspberry or red velvet cake u mixed and marbled? it really looks pretty I know it's absolutely delicious
Hi! I was very impressed with this cake! I am however even more interested in learning how to make the red wine ganache. Do you have instructions for that?
I prefer not to waste cake, and just level everything with a little extra buttercream! I find it's faster for me to do it that way (and I enjoy the extra frosting), but some people prefer to trim their cakes! It's all a matter of preference!
How did you get the wine glass to stay? I tried this and it broke the first layer of the cake. I did have my cake frozen before I put the wine glass in it and my wine glass was much smaller then yours. Also I did have three layers of cake too.
No worries! Yes, keep it in the fridge if you don't plan to eat it in the next couple hours. I usually take it out about two before I plant to eat it to allow it to warm to room temperature before serving. Hope that helps!
haha yes! originally I wanted to try to make the cake less tall since the glass adds so much height, but I couldn't resist adding in a fourth layer! I love the way tall cakes look for some reason :P
I usually either have it in an airtight container and place the lid back on, or lay a piece of saran wrap over it, to minimize it's exposure to the air!
since I heat it up in the microwave, I usually don't! I suppose it would allow you to make the ganache more quickly (could heat it for slightly less long), but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble!
The larger the better! The size isn't the limiting factor, it's actually the weight/thickness of the wine glass! Some smaller wine glasses are actually thicker and heavier than large ones! I use a very large, very light wine glass I found at CB2. Hope that helps!
I usually just prop open the tops of my 10x10 in cake boxes! My cakes never fit into standard boxes :/ haha there are some taller cake boxes out there, but they're rather spendy!
I wanted to make this for a friend but shes more of a white wine lady. I know its just the color but how do you recommend making it more of "white wine color"
plain white chocolate ganache is actually a pretty white wine-ish color naturally, so I would just omit gel food coloring! or add the slightest touch of yellow gel food coloring :)
So why not just cannot the top of the cake when you’re done frosting it just put the red ganache on top of the cake first and then squirt the inside of your wine glass with ganache and then just deck it into the top of the cake that way the ganache from the top of the cake that’s already the same color as the wine will just get inside the wine glass already I would think it would just make the process so much easier then you can squirt Organization to the glass and let it drip down instead of digging the wine glass into the top of a white cake if that makes any sense, hopefully?
I use my go to recipe for layer cakes: chelsweets.com/2016/09/05/best-vanilla-layer-cake-recipe/ They bake relatively flat without any special baking strips or other tricks!
It has to do with the butter I use, and the amount I whip the frosting once everything has incorporated! I use the whole foods brand of unsalted butter, which is a very pale yellow. Hope that helps!!
That's a good idea! I just really dislike the taste of red frosting, so I generally shy away from using it if I can! However, it would definitely make the process easier if you did use a dark red frosting for that part!
That wine glass makes me soooooo nervous!! If I were delivering this cake I would add the glass at the venue - seems like a real risk driving in a car with the glass on that angle! But it is a really cute cake idea!
it can be difficult if you use a somewhat heavy wine glass! mine is super thin/ light weight. I'd recommend inserting it further into the cake to better support the weight of the glass!

ill do it your way...I can't wait..I'm so hyped!!!thanks
Thank you for this video! I also watched your ganache video but I’m wondering what mix of food coloring colors do you use to achieve the “red wine” color?
Uh, RED. Duhhh...
Phfft! Whatever! If you add just red to white chocolate ganache it would be pink, Duhhhh.
@@smashlieh
Not if you add ENOUGH red. Duh.
How to achieve wine color?
Thank u for this tutorial I tried this not same as you but it turned out well too gift for my husband 😍
your cakes are amazing!👌👌👏
Aw thank you
Could you provide the recipe for the other version of this cake? I saw a video of a dark cake with wine colored frosting...I need it asap! 😁😁
Amei ,vou fazer
Love the cake! Love all your videos! I like to bake cakes.. but I sometimes I have the problem of it may stick.. or sometimes on the outside
So what do I do about that?
It can be tricky!! But it gets easier the more you practice!!
Chelsweets Bakery exactly right now I'm baking a simple cake... so on the outside it kinda gets hard
I know this comment is old, but hopefully it helps others! When you reheat the ganache, do you heat it in the microwave still in the squeeze bottle or do you take it out and put it back after?
Beautiful cake👏🏾👏🏾
I am gonna make this soon...thanks
nice work, chelsea!!!!
That's so pretty! That would make an awesome Girls Night In or BFF's birthday cake.
Aw thanks! I agree!! :)
Could you tell me the amount of butter what you used for the whole buttercream from this video ? Thanks
👏👏👏well done great job 👍I have a question how'd you make the marble raspberry and vanilla cakes? is that raspberry or red velvet cake u mixed and marbled? it really looks pretty I know it's absolutely delicious
Loved it
Oh I just found your channel! Love it! what size cake pans do you use? sorry if this has been asked
It varies depending on the cake, but usually 7 inch pans :)
Where do you all suggest getting the cake scrapper from that she has? Preferably a store not online options.
Hi! I was very impressed with this cake! I am however even more interested in learning how to make the red wine ganache. Do you have instructions for that?
Sure! here is the full tutorial: th-cam.com/video/f2-IKH4cQS0/w-d-xo.html
What would you suggest to use for a white wine?
The same white chocolate ganache recipe, just with no gel food coloring :)
I am making this cake for an event in the summer. Can you please let me know what size wine glass you used and the exact one you got from CB2. Thanks,
I believe this is the glass I used! But you can use any over-sized or "generous pour" wine glass! www.cb2.com/pour-balloon-wine-glass/s365859
Awesome cake! Thankyou!
No problem :)
do you hav a video on how to make the ganache? making this cake for my sisters 30th and so happy i actually found a tutorial on youtube! 😀 yay
I don't but I'm planning to make one tomorrow!! :) stay tuned!
oh cool! I'll just follow your instructions on the website, her birthdays tonight! :) thank you
👍🏼 GREAT JOB ♥️
Since you don't level your cakes before you stack them does it make a difference when icing and trying to level your top off.
I prefer not to waste cake, and just level everything with a little extra buttercream! I find it's faster for me to do it that way (and I enjoy the extra frosting), but some people prefer to trim their cakes! It's all a matter of preference!
Maam can you show us how to prepare the weath and dry ingredients and how to mix... thanks godbless you
Dandy Narita th-cam.com/video/bYybj5VEvPM/w-d-xo.html
amazing idea!
Thanks!!
How did you get the wine glass to stay? I tried this and it broke the first layer of the cake. I did have my cake frozen before I put the wine glass in it and my wine glass was much smaller then yours. Also I did have three layers of cake too.
I was thinking that was a raspberry jam or syrup or something which would taste really good I think . This doesn’t look like a ganache?
Hi, Does it works to use the ganach on a cake covered with marzipan? Thank you :)
Not sure! I've never covered a cake in marzipan before!!
My anxiety kicked in when you were putting the wine glass in the cake😂 but it came out awesome! Doing this soon! 🖤❤️
I love it!
I just made this for a friend. Do I refrigerate it until it's cut now? Sorry if it sounds silly but it's my first time baking a cake haha
No worries! Yes, keep it in the fridge if you don't plan to eat it in the next couple hours. I usually take it out about two before I plant to eat it to allow it to warm to room temperature before serving. Hope that helps!
Thank you so much! Will do this ☺
You started with 3 layers, but the switched to a 4 layer cake for the finished product correct?
haha yes! originally I wanted to try to make the cake less tall since the glass adds so much height, but I couldn't resist adding in a fourth layer! I love the way tall cakes look for some reason :P
Thank you
What do you with excess buttercream between chilling the cake?
I usually either have it in an airtight container and place the lid back on, or lay a piece of saran wrap over it, to minimize it's exposure to the air!
Hi it's was so fun but we can not make a sugar glass
Chelsey, I am interested in the Chocolate Version of this cake. What's your recipe for the Red Wine Chocolate Cake? :)
Have you got a frosting recipe? Or could recommend one? Thanks
Yup! Here is the recipe I use: chelsweets.com/2016/11/01/the-best-american-buttercream-recipe/
Thank you so much xox
hi
Do you take heavy cream out few hours to get to room temperature?
since I heat it up in the microwave, I usually don't! I suppose it would allow you to make the ganache more quickly (could heat it for slightly less long), but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble!
I know it a wine glass...but what size is good to put on top...cause some wine glass cup are pretty heavy...so what size is good ???
The larger the better! The size isn't the limiting factor, it's actually the weight/thickness of the wine glass! Some smaller wine glasses are actually thicker and heavier than large ones! I use a very large, very light wine glass I found at CB2. Hope that helps!
I would absolutely love to make this cake however into someone's birthday what box could I buy to transport it?
I usually just prop open the tops of my 10x10 in cake boxes! My cakes never fit into standard boxes :/ haha there are some taller cake boxes out there, but they're rather spendy!
Nyree Henderson, you can make your own cake box.
Hi! What brand of butter do you use?
I use the unsalted whole foods brand (blue box)!
🎂 BEATIFUL 🎂
hi..is there some way I can make the vanilla recipe using eggs?
yes, you can make it with 5 whole eggs. However, the taste and texture will be slightly different!
What's size is your cake and what size cake board are you using?
These were 7 inch cake layers, with a 10 inch cake round!
Can you tell us what turn table you have? Please!?
Sure! It's an ateco, and I ordered it on amazon!
thank you!!

I notice your cakes don't bake with rounded tops how do you manage that
I use my go to recipe for layer cakes: chelsweets.com/2016/09/05/best-vanilla-layer-cake-recipe/
They bake relatively flat without any special baking strips or other tricks!
You’re awesome! ❤️
hi
how do u make your cakes to be flat?
It's the recipe that I use, it bakes flat! here is the link: chelsweets.com/2016/09/05/best-vanilla-layer-cake-recipe/
Chelsweets Bakery
Thank You!!
I really enjoy your tutorial videos :)
How do you keep your buttercream from being too yellow?
It has to do with the butter I use, and the amount I whip the frosting once everything has incorporated! I use the whole foods brand of unsalted butter, which is a very pale yellow. Hope that helps!!

I think the frosting she used to hold the wine glass up should be the same color as the ganache. 🤔 But awesome cake idea. 👍👍
That's a good idea! I just really dislike the taste of red frosting, so I generally shy away from using it if I can! However, it would definitely make the process easier if you did use a dark red frosting for that part!
Where’s the recipe for the ganache??? Chelsea, can u post that up ASAP? I really need it and cannot find the recipe anywhere 😱

Cake bench?
Bench scraper** I always call it a cake bench, because I only use it on cakes! but the real name of the tool is a bench scraper :)
That wine glass makes me soooooo nervous!! If I were delivering this cake I would add the glass at the venue - seems like a real risk driving in a car with the glass on that angle! But it is a really cute cake idea!
Yah I've never had to drive to deliver a cake with this design!! I would definitely suggest that if you need to drive it somewhere!
Danielle Joseph, I'll be terrified that it will fall or lean. I guess you can always use the acrylic wine glass so it wouldn't be so heavy.
Using glass on edible food is not such a hot idea, I would use a plastic wine glass instead.
My wine glass lifted up and the cake started breaking.
it can be difficult if you use a somewhat heavy wine glass! mine is super thin/ light weight. I'd recommend inserting it further into the cake to better support the weight of the glass!
To put glass on a cake is sooooo dangerous.
I think that as long as you don't break the glass, and remove it before cutting, it's not too crazy! You definitely need to be careful though!!
Chelsweets Bakery there are also some plastic wine gkasses if your worried about the glass. and they look just as nice.
It's an adult cake so..........chill out and have a glass of wine.
Just as dangerous as drinking from a glass I guess...
I would use plastic instead of glass . They have some nice ones at the dollar store. Quite sturdy as well.
I was kinda hoping the glass was edible :(
sadly my sugar skills are no where close to that!!! :/
