Wow Mark, you've just made my day, i was soooo disappointing by Kick-Ass 2 and i had to hear everyone tell me how amazing it was...in some cases, people told me it was better than the original, all i could do was tell them "your wrong, it was terrible".
Kermode's review of Pain & Gain was the reason I subscribed and got into his reviews. I absolutely 100% agreed with him. It's by far the worst film I've had the misfortune to watch all year and perhaps one of the worst of all time.
I totally agree, I found Pain and Gain to be incredibly offensive. Not only was it marketed here in the states as a comedy, but when I watched it discovered that not only was it based on a grotesque true story, but geared towards humanizing the villains and attempting to make us sympathize with them. Michael Bay should be ashamed.
Funny, this is the third "Worst Films of 2013" vid I've seen that only places Grown Ups 2 at number 10. A testimony to the quality of modern films, I suppose. Not that there aren't good ones, too, but good grief, we let some awful ones slip through.
Entertaining as always, save for one utterly baffling choice: Kick-Ass 2. I thought it was a perfect follow up to the first. Would like to see Mark's review of it to get some context.
I completely agree with Mark about Pain & Gain - I saw it recently and hated every second of it. An absolute piece of garbage and by far Michael Bay's worst, worst film.
Ouch! I vetted out most of the worst films by not going to see them (as a casual but enthusiastic cinema-goer I went to see about 45 films in the cinema this year), so my own worst ten make a rather pleasant list compared to this.
"Kick-Ass 2" worse than "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D" and "Grown Ups Two"? ...SERIOUSLY, MARK??? And this comes from someone who has Kick-Ass as all time favorite film so I know my shit.
Glad to see "Lone Ranger" or "Hangover 3" wasn't on this list. That would have been too easy. A little harsh on Kick Ass 2 though. It was just meh. Only God Forgives & Spring Breakers should have been on this list.
By now I think we know what to expect from Transformers 4 so if anyone hated or disliked 1, 2 and 3 then they should know what to expect from Transformers 4 and that is an explosive and 0 dimensional mess of a film that will make audiences dumber.
Agree with most of these, despite only seeing a few of them...I would say We're The Millers is worse than The Internship, and surprised that After Earth isn't on here.
Mark, you might approach Transformers 4 with an open mind, but I won't be approaching it at all. What with Transformers and TMNT, Michael Bay seems intent on defecating on my childhood.
Kick-Ass 2!? Mark are you crazy? I thought it had all the wit, all the fun and silly violence of the original and I left with the biggest grin on my face! Still can't understand the general critical kicking this film got! Still, the other 9 choices are right on the Mark
Good list, but I have to disagree on you with Kick-Ass 2 being worst than Grown Ups 2 or Texas Chainsaw 3D (Which is suppose to be the "real" sequel to TCM but should never be) I thought Kick-Ass 2 was an okay film but it was very disappointing.
It is werid, that two of my favorite film of this year is at number two and number one on Kermode worst film of the year. Only God forgive would be at number one for me.
Kick-Ass 2 is a terrible choice, it may not have lived up to the first Kick-Ass but it has a lot of creativity and it isn't bad like the other movies on the list.
I don't think Kick-Ass 2 should be on this list. It's nothing compared to the original Kick-Ass. But saying it is worse than Grown Ups 2 and Texas Chainsaw 3D is quite an offense to the team behind the movie, who probably just got the job to do it. And I think they did a pretty decent job. Expecting to be disappointed, I found the movie to be pretty entertaining. Having read all the comics (because I really liked Kick-Ass), I have to say, the source material isn't that impressive, they changed a lot for the first movie, and also for the second. I think Kick-Ass 2 was more entertaining than it's source material even though it took some of the edge of.
*Note: I didn't see A Good Day to Die Hard, Texas Chainsaw 3D, Grown Ups 2, Safe Haven, G.I Joe: Retaliation, The Lone Ranger, White House Down, The Counselor, Scary Movie 5, Pain and Gain, or After Earth (and some others) because I had literally no interest and they all looked like garbage. There were also some things like Run for Your Wife that didn't even open here in the United States, which I'm thankful for.* 10 - The Wolf of Wall Street 9 - Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor 8 - Jack the Giant Slayer 7 - Olympus Has Fallen 6 - Beautiful Creatures 5 - The Internship 4 - Only God Forgives 3 - Identity Thief 2 - Room 237 1 - Movie 43 (worst "film" of all time)
Pain & Gain was no way near the worst film of 2013 for me. I thought it was a 3/5 film, and was way better than Transformers 2 and 3. As for Grown Ups 2, that really should've been number 1. I mean, REALLY should've been.
"£602" Possibly the funniest thing I'll hear in all of 2014.
i know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to stream new series online ?
Wow Mark, you've just made my day, i was soooo disappointing by Kick-Ass 2 and i had to hear everyone tell me how amazing it was...in some cases, people told me it was better than the original, all i could do was tell them "your wrong, it was terrible".
“In America when they do this kind of thing, they make Movie 43. When we do it, we make Run For Your Wife”
Kermode's review of Pain & Gain was the reason I subscribed and got into his reviews. I absolutely 100% agreed with him. It's by far the worst film I've had the misfortune to watch all year and perhaps one of the worst of all time.
And that wonderful critic known as Armond White named Pain and Gain in his top 5 films of the year for Sight and Sound. Seriously...
Armond White also believes that After Earth is M Night Shamylan's only good movie.
Kermode is one of my favourite film reviewers.
I'm so proud of how many of these I have NOT seen. Thank you Mark!!
Even ignoring the 3D, that Texas Chainsaw advert has the most obnoxious abuse of stereo sound I've ever seen.
Or, heard.
Funny, this is the third "Worst Films of 2013" vid I've seen that only places Grown Ups 2 at number 10. A testimony to the quality of modern films, I suppose. Not that there aren't good ones, too, but good grief, we let some awful ones slip through.
"I approach Transformers 4 with an open mind, really" - LOL!!!
:)
Entertaining as always, save for one utterly baffling choice: Kick-Ass 2. I thought it was a perfect follow up to the first. Would like to see Mark's review of it to get some context.
I thought After Earth was going to take top slot.
Great list ! :) Happy New Year to you all
I completely agree with Mark about Pain & Gain - I saw it recently and hated every second of it. An absolute piece of garbage and by far Michael Bay's worst, worst film.
a pauline kael book on top of a book about citizen kane? thats a bold move
Is that Rolf Harris on the left there at 4:11?
ps Unfortunately, the number 1 pick is a kind of 'Showgirls' choice.
Ouch! I vetted out most of the worst films by not going to see them (as a casual but enthusiastic cinema-goer I went to see about 45 films in the cinema this year), so my own worst ten make a rather pleasant list compared to this.

Couldn't agree more on Kick Ass 2. So disappointing.
By now I think we know what to expect from Transformers 4 so if anyone hated or disliked 1, 2 and 3 then they should know what to expect from Transformers 4 and that is an explosive and 0 dimensional mess of a film that will make audiences dumber.
So you liked Scary Movie 5?
Kick-Ass 2 was great. Of course it was never going to be as funny and surprising as the first. But it was perfectly enjoyable without being brilliant.
Agree with most of these, despite only seeing a few of them...I would say We're The Millers is worse than The Internship, and surprised that After Earth isn't on here.
where can i see his top ten films of the year?
I only disagree with Kick-Ass 2 as I thought that was actually great. I'd replace that with After Earth.
Texas 3D came out on my birthday, I hated seeing the date associated with such drivel on the sides of buses
What was his and Mayo's top 10 list?
Fassbender is my favorite actor but I never had any desire to see The Counselor. Even the previews make you wanna puke.
Mark, you might approach Transformers 4 with an open mind, but I won't be approaching it at all. What with Transformers and TMNT, Michael Bay seems intent on defecating on my childhood.
No After Earth?
Surprised The Harry Hill movie isn't in there
Nice list. The only movie I seen on here and agree with you on is "Movie 43". Just title itself is enough to evoke horror and dread, It was that bad.
"That said I approach Transformers 4 with an open mind" You'er fulling no one Mark I heard Goebbels say more truthful things.
I haven't seen either, but it's really hard for me to believe Texas Chainsaw 3D is worse than Grown Ups 2
I (like Kermode) would wish all these Texas Chainsaw movies would go away
No Moshi Monsters ??
very harsh on Kick-ass 2 and the internship
DANNY DYER! MADE IT LOL
Kick-Ass 2!? Mark are you crazy? I thought it had all the wit, all the fun and silly violence of the original and I left with the biggest grin on my face! Still can't understand the general critical kicking this film got! Still, the other 9 choices are right on the Mark
Eugh Texas 3D ruined my birthday by coming out on the day and I’m proud to say I’ve not seen it, but still feel a little dirty.
Where is After Earth ??
It is werid, that two of my favorite film of this year is at number two and number one on Kermode worst film of the year. Only God forgive would be at number one for me.
Grown ups 2 is the worst film I have ever watched.
Come on, the counsellor was better than movie 43. Also, where is the video of the "top 10 films" of 2013
Did not see most of those
No Moshi Monsters?
Kick-Ass 2 is a terrible choice, it may not have lived up to the first Kick-Ass but it has a lot of creativity and it isn't bad like the other movies on the list.
The Internship was a really funny movie
Delivery man was so stupid and boring. It was definitely the worst film of 2013!
Damn haha I like The Counsellor and Pain & Gain
Clever last line from Mark Wahlberg there, lol.
Not even After Earth made the list, my god, what a crapload of movies
The Purge?
You forgot Elysium, hamfisted is the word.
you missed out number 3...
NICE XMAS JUMPER!
The Hangover III is missing.
never heard of Bula Quo.........but it kind of looks ok.
I actually liked the top 2, haha. Can't say a kind thing about the rest though.
Ignore me!
£602 takings for run for your wife, OMG !!
Good critic. Bad sweater.
You can't hate something vile like "Pain & Gain" then give "Spring Breakers" & "Only God Forgives" a pass
Agreed. At least Pain & Gain doesn't have a bunch of aspie A24 worshipers insisting that it was ACTUALLY brilliant and we just didn't understand it
Thank god you had Pain and Gain in there........what a bad film
Love the jumper.
Nice list
kick-ass 2 was awesome. and u don't explain why you hate these films.
kick ass 2 is awesome
Pain & Gain looks dreadful, but does it approach the atrocity of the Keith Lemon film? I think not.
I don't think Kick-Ass 2 should be on this list. It's nothing compared to the original Kick-Ass. 7 - Olympus Has Fallen
6 - Beautiful Creatures
5 - The Internship
4 - Only God Forgives
3 - Identity Thief

A-Bula-Bula-Quo...
A-Bula-Bula-Quo...

Boom
The good Doctor understands that Pain & Gain is a satire... right?
Thats a terrible list.
Pain & Gain was no way near the worst film of 2013 for me. I thought it was a 3/5 film, and was way better than Transformers 2 and 3.
As for Grown Ups 2, that really should've been number 1. I mean, REALLY should've been.
Sorry to say but pain and gain was one my best films
Pain & Gain was aite
I only disagree with Kick-Ass 2 as I thought that was actually great. I'd replace that with After Earth.
