Was this a hard or complicated song? Not in the slightest. Am I still super jazzed that I actually managed to play something for the first time on the bass I just got today? OH hell yes.
I got my bass yesterday (never played anything before), I am much further along playing this song then I would've expected. So glad I found this. Thank you! Triple.
great tutorial, but I'd recommend that when you're on the A string, that you rest your thumb on the E string instead of the pickup. This will stop the E from developing a sympathetic resonance. Move your thumb up to the pickup only when you want to play the E string. If you watch Andy's bassist during the 2nd half of the video, you'll see that this is the technique that he uses.
I‘m actually really trying to remember this while playing, but I gotta admit that it feels kind of weird with longer fingers. I know it’s just a matter of getting used to it, but it feels more comfortable if I have bit more room between my fingers. But you’re absolutely right, the thumb is supposed to rest on the string above the one you’re playing.
Took about 4 days to get comfortable, do some initial maintenance and stop it sounding like a fricking bumble bee, but I finally can play music! This is sick! lol
This song is super easy to learn. I got my first bass today and wanted to play something, so i decided to learn seven nation army. Well, after 30 minutes i was (sorry if this sounds arrogant) super impressed of my progress. Big suggestion to beginners, this is perfect if you are starting with this awesome instrument
It’s 2021 and I pick up the bassist! I am excited about my journey since you’re now my TH-cam teacher mate😊 God bless you! Encouragement for those reading: “Do not despise small beginnings. Small progress is still progress!” XoXo 🦋
Thank you! Every other video goes super fast and you took the time to actually teach it. I almost have it. I appreciate your channel sooooo much. I've only been playing a month!
My dad has all these guitars and I never really felt it, idk but I’ve started picking up bass and it’s so much more interesting to me, I have no clue why, it’s just awesome
I picked up guitar after almost 40 years and was enjoying. Then one day hubby and I were putting a song together and wanted a bass line. I picked one up and played it, and was immediately hooked! I bought my own the next week. This is a great fun way to learn to play actual songs. I enjoy learning theory, but it’s awesome to be able to play cool stuff. Thank you Andy 👏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻
I watched this just after your "Learn the Ukulele in 10 Days". Oriinally, I wanted to learn bass, but I also liked your Uke lessons. You are a great teacher, thank you for helping me Andy!
After playing drums for more then 10 years in several bands (just for fun and with some gigs) i stopped when the Corona hit the world. But after 3 years doing nothing with music I needed to do something because the urge was to big 🙂 But this time less noisy. I bought a bass guitar, a small amplifier and some accessories. Knowing nothing about tones, scales and all the other essential stuff I expected to have a looooooooooong road ahead of me before I would be able to play a part of any tune. But what an inspiring guy are you (and your band ofcourse) Today i managed to play the whole of the Seven nation army song with the band, on 75% speed. Still making me so proud to make this kind of progress in just a few days. Thanks for taking me on the right track to a new carreer as (amatuer) bass player!!🙏
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought/built my first bass and this is the first song I’ve learned on it!!!😍 I love the idea of getting to play with a band also!!! I’m definitely ganna try your other videos!!!
Awesome video my only request is that you mentioned the notes that your playing so that we as beginners can start learning the notes on the base, thanks. I loved this videos especially being able to practice while we play with your band. Awesome 👌🏽 can’t wait to learn this song and move on to the next one ✌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I glad my voice students showed me your videos and enjoy learning to play beginning bass with them! Such clear communication, explanation of terms and bass playing, great counting of the rhythm in context, and really encouraging words for the student! I love the split screen showing the bass work close up as your band plays!! Thanks for all this stuff!
My brother at drums, my other brother with guitar and my father is the singer... this video is perfect to work my part: bass! (Can’t wait to play that together 🤩) Thanks from France! 💙🤍❤️
Thanks bro easy tutorialreal easy to learn and understand not like most of these people were like on the very first iPhone ever made like the day the song came out and it's a potato cam
all ready know how to play it, im 12 and in a band called bloody hang nail, im the bassis, were better than ud expect, and this is onna the songs we can play😏
thank you ive just brought a bass guitar and this is the very first time playing and i managed to do it but i found my first finger would not reach that high do you have any ideas on how to train my fingers to go into the right place
I don't know if this is possible but it would be great if the tracks would be available "minus one" instrument for guitar or bass/ singer/drums. But anyway : great lesson series.
My idee: When u play the E string u should rest youre thumb on the pickup ; when u play the A string u should rest youre thumb on the E string ; when u play the D string u should rest youre thumb on the A string and the last one , play the G string rest youre thumb on the D string. NOT FOR ANDY- is a professional and good teacher for guitars .And yes is illegal to use pick on a bass guitar( Davie 504 say that :) )
First time picking up bass. Not sure instruments and me are very good together haha. Tutorial is great. I am definitely not a natural with music and instruments haha.
Was this a hard or complicated song? Not in the slightest. Am I still super jazzed that I actually managed to play something for the first time on the bass I just got today? OH hell yes.

Bro im a drummer and I decided to self-teach myself base and I'm feel so unironically proud of myself it's insane.
I got my bass yesterday (never played anything before), I am much further along playing this song then I would've expected. So glad I found this. Thank you! Triple.
how is your bass hobby doing?
