    Great unit and in Australian money it is the best performing best value yoke by far imo, I've tried a few and I consider it to one of the most realistic (response wise). Got mine in late Nov. I use it in 3 flight sims and it trims really nicely in each one, once you make the effort to tune as you should with all controllers.

    As a real world pilot, I think the yoke is really good. 9/10 (I’d give it 10/10 with force feedback) It does almost feel like the C172 which is what they modelled. A definite purchase. Waiting for the bravo

      Yeah but you are not going to get FF for $250. This is an entry to mid level yoke for the masses and was never meant to be a high end yoke for professional use.

  • @automaton450

    Yesterday a person from Honeycomb recently posted on their Facebook page that the reason some yokes have a deadzone, and some do not, is that some of the early production units were calibrated incorrectly at the factory, giving them a deadzone they should not have. My yoke from the original preorder has a 5mm deadzone in elevator, and a 9° deadzone in aileron (5% of total rotation!). Also, I have found out that the yoke has a built-in "hidden" calibration routine that can be invoked to recalibrate with no deadzone at all - but those that have been told this procedure have been instructed to not make it public, as they are concerned a user could screw up their yoke even worse.

    • @mr.martintorres5804
      @mr.martintorres5804 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting. A review by You Tuber, Almost Aviation, also noted dead zones. Honeycomb tried to convince him there weren’t any when he contacted him. After some back and forth, they eventually shared with him, at the behest he not divulge this, how to recalibrate his yoke to factory specs. Seems like Honeycomb owes their customers an explanation & a firmware update if possible.

    I have no problem with $150, but over that.. that's a hard sell for me.. It's allot of money for that yoke. I prefer yokes with little or nothing on it... and absolutely no thrust levers, as I have a couple SP's for that. I wouldn't mind a metal set for rudder pedals.. money there is not a bad investment.. legs are allot more powerful then plastic sometimes... Anyway, thanks for the review, it was very informative, and I appreciate it very much!

      I got hands on with it at Sun n' Fun 2019 and saw no noticeable deadzones at all. The buttons they chose to place on this yoke are asinine as hell. Thanks guys, you gave us a start button. A button we use once. As well as buttons we will barely use on the flight. What a useful thing to have. Remove all those useless buttons and put one mix knob. At least that would be useful. If you want all these buttons that are so rarely used on a flight then put those on a panel.

    Is the Honeycomb yoke any better for maintaining or trimming for level flight? This is a real downfall of most sims and hardware. Trimming a Cherokee, a 172, or a 150 for level flight is so much easier in the real thing than in the sim. I find myself using the autopilot in the sim quite frequently because I get tired of fighting the sim.

    I sold mine actually, preferred my Thrustmaster T16000
    It's great value for money the 90degree roll is nice, the pitch however is horrible, nothing like the real thing..small travel and this weird centre spring thing
    It's good piece of kit but fell short so sold it for a small loss
    The joystick isn't like the real thing but cost me way less so I'd rather use that if im happy with that!

      Yes, a real test of a yoke is its accuracy of centre. Ive flown a s a commercial pilot and now just for fun, and I am also an avid simmer. I like doing instrument work and pitch control whilst doing this is paramount. A performance change is often half a bars width on the Artificial horizon and to be able to do this with accuracy is key to flying a procedure. Cheap yokes have a very indeterminate centre which makes this next to impossible. Lets see more searching reviews of hardware, that examine its quality under differing flight envelopes.

    I must say, although the aesthetic of the curved housing, I often rest a keyboard on top or use it for my mouse. That is not possible for this yoke. I would say the saitek is probably still better value for money (considering you get a quadrant with it for the same price). Disappointed to here there is a detent, as you would have thought they could easily have got rid of this by now.

Is it worth the money and is it actually precise? I have flown both Cessnas Pipers and two different Ultralight aircraft like a Jore UA-2 and a A22L so i know how a joystick feels. Especially on the ultralight planes. I want a good and precise joystick for my X-Plane 11 setup! Let me know if anyone has any reason for me to buy this! For me it’s important to get some info from guys who knows what joystick to get!
