    I tried it for about 5 minutes at my local pilot shop in xplane. I was very put off by the significant difference in feel between roll and pitch. Range of motion in pitch is far lower, but less relevant. The resolution of the yoke is great, but when an aircraft is in trim and you're landing there is no resistance. My CH might not have the range or resolution for precise handing, but the feel is far more stable and natural. CH feel with honeycomb features and we'll have a winner

    i have just got it today, thank you for video! The difference between honeycomb one and saitek yoke is like night and day. The rubbing sound when pushing in and out is actually the same as in the real Cessna C172. I can't wait to set it up (my table is too thick) and start flying with it!

    Thank you. If only I had mine! Ordered 10 July, getting a little fed up now. One thing for those who have Satek yoke & throttles to note is that the in order to use the Honeycombe yorke with the Satek throttles the old yoke has to be placed somewhere because the throttles do not have a PS2 plug has first thought so the connection with the Satek yoke must be maintained. Lets hope Honeycombe get their throttles out quicker.

      Hi Michael, I meant to mention the PS2 issue, thank you for reminding me. It is a valid and important point and I will add it to my pinned comment above. Hopefully you will get yours soon.

    Good afternoon SimHanger, After viewing your initial vid on this product I prerecorded myself one of these units. I have been awaiting your unboxing\setup/testing of the unit. Outstanding review. Now I can wait for mine to arrive. Thanks for taking the time to create this vid. Looking forward to your next commentary of this product (possible during a full fight using the Alpha yoke) . Once again thank you. Flight Straight and level.

    I received my Honeycomb yoke on the 15th October 2019, after a two month wait, and I have to say it was well worth the wait.
    The yoke is very well put together, and the mounting clamps ensure they yoke doesn’t move. I only fly Boeing jets in my FSX, and the yoke has a nice heavy jet feel about it.

    I have had the new yoke for a few days and it works well for x-plane11 planes that are included in x-plane. I have used it with the Cessna 172, The Beechcraft Baron, and the Cirrus FS. But the Mooney I purchased as an add on plane is a different matter. The yoke buttons all work. The ignition switch works. But none of the other switches work. I seem to be able to use other functions from the x-plane option menu, but none of the lights, and master and avionic switches work. Of course, Mooney would have to be my favorite plane. I also have FSX on steam and downloaded the configuration file but nothing at all works and like you said, the instructions are not very useful. I can't see how to get FSX to even see the configuration file. It is really hard not having throttle controls but have ordered one from Logitech which hasn't come yet. Waiting eagerly for the Throttle from Honeycomb. Do you have any advice on getting the switches to work for an add-on Mooney from X-Aviation? Thanks

      Mike Wauge , hi Mike, have you seen my config video. You can link to it here th-cam.com/video/_J7QuQusncE/w-d-xo.html . Some aircraft have their own bespoke configuration for some actions, PMDG for example are well known for this. If this is the case getting it configured manually is often next to impossible unless you have a way to find out what link is being used. Wish I could be of more help but I don’t have that aircraft. Regards

    • @mikewauge7440
      @mikewauge7440 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the response. It probably isn't possible to configure it. I also have FSX Steam which isn't nearly as good as X-Plane but since there is a Honeycomb configuration download for FSX I maybe be able to configure it outside of FSX. I enjoy your videos and will continue watching them in the future.

    Great Video. One of my questions was if there was any feedback. Glad to hear there is. I go to a sim center on occasion and they have a very expensive yoke with feedback and that is a feature hoped to be able to get at home. I have Xplane 11 which I got with the Saitek / Logitec yoke, throttle quadrant and pedals. I am going to upgrade to honeycomb soon. Thanks! I like the look of the Honeycomb quadrant as well, I want to be able to start the King Air engines one at a time, as you would in real life.

There is a search bar at the top. enter in there what you are looking for. For example ''engine start'' will show option for autostart. or ''starter'' and you will see options for each engine etc. assign a new function, click save/OK and your done. • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oscar Villodres , hello Oscar, the tension on the yoke is more realistic than the Saitek yokes and closer to real world yokes. The tension in the honeycomb Yoke is created by bungee cords and I would not recommend trying to adjust this. Change the sensitivity on the yoke axis to 100% try it and then adjust to suit you. I had to change this setting (in your flight sim) to get the type of response I wanted. Regards

    Hi Mark, just found you and subscribed! Thanks for this report. I received my yoke last week. Like you very impressed. I know you’ve mentioned the calibration settings below. Can I ask you to clarify what settings you are using for both axis, please? I am finding with my current setup turning requires a considerable turn of the yoke compared to the real flying I have done in the past. Elevators probably need more pressure than needed. Do you use FSUIPC for calibration at all? Best, Keith.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      KEITHGEE1000 , hello and thank you for the sub. Much appreciated. I will be doing a more detailed set up and calibration video at a later date. The easiest and quickest way to change the response times on your yoke is to use the calibration settings in your flight sim. All axis on the sensitivity settings are set at 50% by default. The higher the sensitivity the more responsive the yoke. Experiment with different settings until you find what suits you best. Regards.

    • @KEITHGEE1000
      @KEITHGEE1000 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thanks. What about null zones? Best way to test those?

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @KEITHGEE1000
      @KEITHGEE1000 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark. P3D.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      KEITHGEE1000 , the axis sensitivity is between 1 and 127. I have mine set to about 120 (default was 64 I think). The yoke uses good quality potentiometers so you can turn down the null zones to 1 if you want (default is 36). I found anything from the default to 20 was fine for me. Remember that different aircraft will react differently. For example A2A aircraft operate and respond best on max sensitivity. Carenado on the other hand you may need to tweak the null zone from time to time. FSUIPC is an option if you want different settings saved etc. If your looking for realism and flying an older bird, the Connie for example, you would turn down sensitivity as these aircraft were not as responsive as the more modern ones. Hope this helps. Regards

      Daryl Barber , hello and I really appreciate your generous comments. I also tried out the upcoming throttle quadrant at Cosford and was impressed. It will be great for flying the tube liners! Regards

    The lag between you turning the yoke and the plane turning looks awful??

      Hi Paul, Filmed separately then edited together, the problem is not the yoke, its my poor editing skills!

    I dont fly cessnas and this yolk seems to be geared towards SMALL PLANES. $250 is WAY TOO MUCH MONEY for a yoke that is filled with dead zones. You would think that HONEYCOMB would be fixing this issue instead of having to go into the product to void the warranty and start splicing wires to fix the DEAD ZONES! Could also have FORCE FEEL. HELLO! 9 out of 10? Really? I would say 6

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mihaly Freeman , hi Mihaly the yoke can be used for all aircraft, but as you say, more focused on smaller aircraft, however the same applies to all yokes < $250 to be fair. There were a small number of yokes that needed recalibration apparently on release, but the movement resolution on the travel is the best we have seen in a product at this price. The dead zone is the smallest we have seen compared to most yokes, and you do need a small dead zone otherwise you will get “ chatter” it’s around 1.5%. Regards.

    A review of the newly released Honeycomb yoke. A look at what you get, mounting options and how to configure the yoke for your flight simulator (P3D Xplane FSX FSX:SE). What do you think of this yoke?
    One point I forgot to mention in the video is that the Saitek throttle quadrant....if purchased with the yoke as a set ...then it comes with a PS2 connection. There is no PS2 connection on the Honeycomb yoke. If you purchased the Saitek throttle quadrant separately then this was sold with a USB connector so you could still use it, but there are no spare connectors on the Honeycomb yoke so you will have to plug it into a spare USB port on the PC or a hub. The Yokeinput program has been updated and now includes an English set of instructions.

      Can this be mounted to a Wheel Stand Pro like the Saitek yoke? I have the Wheelstand instead of desktop.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Walter Hurdle , hello, I am not familiar with the wheel stand pro, so I can’t be sure. If you use the Saitek clamp to secure your yoke then you should be okay with the Honeycomb. Regards

      Kaushal Vyas , you can in your chosen flightsim. You can set very accurate response curves in Xplane for example. Regards

      wildgoobsid5 , hi and thanks for commenting. I currently only have the Saitek Cessna pro-flight yoke, however as you can see from the video, I am a “seasoned” flight simmer. I have owned and used many different yokes over the years, most of them CH Products or Saitek. This Honeycomb is a cut above the norm.
