Honestly, I'm struggling to comprehend and appreciate just how much work went into this episode; all the members of the cast in different parts of the country, talking to significant individuals about their vehicles and some details. The editing, the audio work, the vfx, everything.
The fact the owner of the 918 Spyder just let them go all out while the GT3 guy is like "be careful" is cracking me up. Also good on the owner of the 918 for actually letting them enjoy it.
I think they were quite careful with the 918 as well. You'd need to be a professional racing driver to get everything it has out of it, and the Donut guys know this. They only sent it on the straights and other parts of the track they knew posed no risk of losing control, I'm sure. The GT3, if I understand correctly, is a more 'temperamental' type of car. The engine's all the way in the back, like a normal 911, but it's also very light, like the classic 2,7RS. The risk of a slight error in judgement causing disastrous oversteer is not unsignificant. I'm not sure if there is a list out there of people who killed themselves with GT2s and GT3s, but perhaps there should be.
It Isn't weird that you'd say to be careful. It's Vin his dreamcar, Vin drives it. DDE revailed they took over the Hooigan HQ and Vin was one of the 1st people to do Donuts in the old Burnyard, with that exact GT3 RS. He doesnt just baby it like you apparently think lol
It shows the 2 type of owners. The one who buys it for status and being seen in it and the owner who buys it to drive how it's meant to be driven. There was a GT3 back in the day near me that he turned into a GT3RS (before they were in the states) that had upgraded suspension, exhaust, full cage, etc and he drove it properly and drove it to and home from the track every single weekend. He's the only Porsche owner I ever met that I actually respected. Plus, he was humble AF. He even has a Lotus and he told me look underneath and that's how I learned they had just one plate covering the suspension and everything. I wonder what happened to that guy. He was an amazing person that didn't let money grow his ego.
The sheer level of joy that the guys felt driving the 918 around is EXACTLY why Porsche is my all time favorite car maker. They make cars for the sole purpose of having the most fun while driving
There was a Cayman S for sale on my local Facebook marketplace for I think $18,000. With 186,000 miles on the clock. Looked just about new. So with proper maintenance and all that, I can see these going for a long time
@@2wavyaxa139 It just depends on how old and used all the parts are. All parts on a Porsche have a timeline and/or wear limit. Keep them up and in theory the cars can last pretty much forever. Of course when keeing them up means they need new cylinder liners thats still a job thats on the cards but you're going to be looking at a big bill for it. A good inspection is worth its weight in gold for these things. If you get lucky you can drive one relatively cheaply but if you get one thats on the edge of a lot of wear items its going to cost many thousands to bring it back to spec. Mileage doesn't really matter so much as the condition of everything but mileage can give clues as to whats likely to have been changed or need changing soon. Track work is worth around 500 miles of road use for each mile on track so far as wear goes.

I work at a Porsche track shop/race team. I gotta say, as a mechanic, Porsche is the best. Sometimes the mid and rear engine cars can be slightly annoying to work on, but they just do everything so well. Also, our shop track car is a 987.2 cayman, just a base, but with some high quality nitron coilovers, seats, belts, and good brake pads and fluid, and good tires… that thing is a unit. Especially once you have an lsd.

The 944S is my baby, and I got it for $2500. Haven't owned the rest, but got to take MOST of them on an autocross or track lap once or twice, and some street time for some. I love smaller light cars, so the 944 is honestly one of my favorites on the list (biased because I own it). The Cayman GTS was my favorite every day modern car. The GT3 is a fucking beast, but hated driving it in traffic because I was nervous about someone hitting it, and the car just wants to GO. I've only met 1 guy that can actually drive that car near the limit. Too much car unless you can spend countless hours at the track, and it kinda feels like a waste as a street car. I think honestly the best car you could get for $50k is a 718 Cayman S, and get it tuned.
0-60 it was faster than the 992 turbo s. Laptime wise given the latest cup2r it would probably be under 6:50 at nurburgring too. A g meter would help in video definitely though.

Great video guys!! I've always been a Porsche lover (maybe it's my German blood), but they make some of the most beautiful machines (IMHO) that are meant to be DRIVEN! (daily or on the track). Their engineering has always astounded me (pushing a 6-cylinder to ~450bhp, equivalent to what the Ferrari's & Lambo's were doing with V8's and V12's!) - as an engineer, this impressed me! My favourite was the 959 (which I wish you had the opportunity to test - but it's a rare one!), but that was until the 918 Spyder came out - this is THE ultimate Porsche! So I am over the moon that you got to experience the thrill of driving that majestic Unicorn! Cheers!
1:52 "People hated on the Cayenne for a while and now they love it" I don't know about others, but to many Porsche enthusiasts I've talked to, they see it as a 'fancier VW Touareg' or something smh
You guys have the best jobs in the world honestly. Seeing the pure joy in your faces driving these insane machines just makes me so happy to see how far Donut has come. Keep up the amazing content fellas! I’m here for it!
I am a big Porsche fan, I love the 944, but that one is in rough condition, sure looks like a fun car though. That Cayman S is an epic little sports car, the Guntherwerks 993 is so cool, I love those restomod 911's, but the 918 Spyder is top tier, I'm taking that or the Guntherwerks over any of them.
DUDES. These brand analysis videos are becoming Top Gear/Grand Tour level. Really enjoyed this one. I'd watch an hour long episode of something like this no complaining.
bruh, the zoom out from the racetrack to the world map and then the zoom back into the garage is next level. The editing on this channel is amazing, and I can't wrap my head around how to technically execute some of it. It's bonkers to me. I'd love to know how to do that zoom out effect.

DONUT! I Had a project 944 n/a(1985/1 which meant it was on the old interior and halfway through 85' called the 1985/2 and looks similar to that of the 911's from the same era wherebit doesnt even look old! But i digress...) couple years back, it was one of my favorite slow cars to drive fast, it's essentially the 924 but the wide fender body built into it unlike the 924 s with the bolt on pieces(which is still awesome). I updated the paint to a phantom gray, added Porsche Twists with some sticky tires, and had a blast every time I drove it! Thanks for doing this video!! Love you guys!!!
You forgot the 968. There's a Singer-like restomod version of those that will hit the roads shortly n the engine, drivetrain n suspension r being built by some very very capable folks from a company called Italtecnica out of Italy. I'm not really a fan of the 914 though but apparently there's a restomod version of those too bound to hit the roads. They look kinda off to me. Like one of those old school Fiat/Abarth sportscars.
I was in high school between '05-08. Those 944s and old Zs were a lot of people's first car. They were sick! Wish I could go back and live those days again

Begin "Cool story bro" So my dad bought a 1966 911 back in 1986(?) when we lived in the states. He paid $5kUS for it. It was that creamsicle orange they came in. He did a full restoration and drove it on weekends every once in a while but after a decade or so it started sitting as it needed an engine rebuild and brakes all done again. Ended up giving it to a group out of Vancouver who does Porsche restorations while getting a straight trade for a brand new 2016 Cayenne S literally one of the first in North America (for the amount of work needed and how much they sold it for it was a good trade). While they were restoring it they looked into its lineage and ends up my dad was the third owner, the first was actually Bob Hope's favourite architect who owned it until he died. The next owner bought it looking at restoring it but never got around to it.
This one was epic Donut crew!!! So many sweet collabs and cars!! Best video yet, the amount of work that must have gone into organising all this, chefs kiss 💋
17:14 I know there are people who would take either the P1 or the LaFerrari over the 918. But for me, the Porsche is always my favourite. It might be the least powerful and the heaviest, but it's the most practical overall.
That 924 S has a Carrera GT body kit. That slowed it down because it's not as aerodynamic as the stock body!! It's going to look good when it's completed.

Also, our shop track car is a 987.2 cayman, just a base, but with some high quality nitron coilovers, seats, belts, and good brake pads and fluid, and good tires… that thing is a unit. Especially once you have an lsd.
What team?
@@acimotorsports Hot Wheels probably.
The shot of James and Jeremiah in the red Porsche 918 is the coolest shot I’ve seen in a YT ad

Man I just love how Porsches look in general. Maybe it's the VW Bug lover in me, maybe it's my obsession with the Wangan Midnight "BlackBird" but whenever I see a Porsche it just makes me happy.
I agree with Vin! Driving is hard and that makes it so fun! Feeling the grip and the weight transfer. Love it
guys, I love your videos and have watched them ever since your early early days. Seeing your love of the cars, your raw reactions, and just everyone's faces light up truly makes me happy. You guys make me feel like I'm right in the passenger seat with you. Has always meant a lot to me. Keep on being such amazing, genuine people.
Such an impressive line-up of Porsches in the video, each with their own unique charm. The level of craftsmanship in Gunther is actually mind-boggling. Props to the owner of the Porsche 918 for allowing a spin in his $3 million marvel!
I had a 1987 Porsche 944 and man that puppy was fun! Wish I never gave it up. The thing was a hunk of junk because of the previous owner, but it was MY hunk of junk ❤
Their great! My first car, my daily driver, still enjoying it 11 years later.
Vin and Jerry being buds made my day.
We love a 924. They're just peak fun car for "cheap". I want one to put a 20v 1.8T into I feel like that would be awesome
2.7T FIT? 😈

People love to hate on the 924 but love the scirocco and golf of the same era. That to me is interesting.
I had a mk2 golf I swapped a 1.8t. Loved that thing. I have a 924 turbo now running about 240hp now, it's awesome to drive
@@boofingenthusiast only concern is fitment otherwise goated swap
I was so Happy to see Vin on the Channel. It was like a donut Easter egg. Keep up the good work guys Thankyou for your years of entertaining and educational content.
Something about bespoke Porsches. Singer, Gunther, RWB. Definitely would be my first pick from this video.
The reactions to the 918 were awesome. It really is amazing what Porsche can do. Love the videos guys, keep it up!
Someone who live in Quebec and go to the salon de l’auto is kind nostalgic seeing that off road 911 driven in some real condition for this car
Exact!

-1987 944S
-2003 911 C2 cab
-2016 Targa 4S
-2015 GT3
-2022 718 Spyder
-2013 Panamera S
-2023 Cayman GTS
-2023 911 T
-Taycan Turbo
-Macan Turbo
-Cayenne S
And get to drive a GT4RS this summer.
How was the gt4rs? :)
@@mmss2470 It's on a ship from Germany right now, but should get to take it for a couple laps before the end of the month! Very excited.
Jame's smile while driving the 277 with Magnus is so amazing. What an experience.
918 Spyder looks like it was built yesterday. Aged very, very well, what a machine
Honestly I couldn't tell how fast the 918 from the video, but nolan's reaction at 19:06 gave me goosebumps. Thank you.
0-60 it was faster than the 992 turbo s. Laptime wise given the latest cup2r it would probably be under 6:50 at nurburgring too. A g meter would help in video definitely though.
“if that’s the case james, send me to the soup kitchen and give me a line of sweet sweet powder” man wtf nolan lmao
To everyone at the donut staff, please appreciate what you are currently experiencing. You are at the peak of your TH-cam channel right now, the laughter with your friends you get to experience will not last forever. Please cherish it because we all know what the algorithm does once a channel has run its course. I'm happy to see you guys pushing into your prime but for some reason my brain is fast forwarding to the future. Please do all that you can to keep up with car trends and I hope you remain the number one car TH-cam channel forever
I’d like to request a maintenance video. One that covers all necessary maintenance on a car. What to do and when to do it. Like standard oil changes, break fluid, break pads, and belts. To more in-depth maintenance like gaskets, trans oil, and water pumps. I got a 2006 colorado with 200k miles and im told I should’ve done a few of these years ago. Please id love a video like this.
I absolutely love the 924. I'd love to have one or the 944
we go back and forth all the time, but they're both awesome cars! can't go wrong with either.
I saw the first gt3 come out and i said man that looks like Vins😂 cool to see you in a donut video!
This video is incomplete without a Carrera GT
And a 959!
@@EchoesDaBear and the 911 gt1
Videos like this feel like a life bonus, one for the bois and one for me. What a very pleasant 20 minutes.
Cheers!
I have a modified 924 with a 2.5 turbocharged 5cyl pushing 490hp in it and it's soooo much fun.
woah, sounds rowdy!
That Spyder looks like a thing out of video games, looks and sounds crazy
That's bc video games are the only way normal fucks like us can see them
These types of videos are the best 🔥

Probably my most favorite video from donut to date! Love to see you guys enjoying Porsches
Tbh the 3k Porsche looks something like a battle machine car for NFS Prostreet ❤❤❤
1:52 "People hated on the Cayenne for a while and now they love it"
I don't know about others, but to many Porsche enthusiasts I've talked to, they see it as a 'fancier VW Touareg' or something smh
I like the Gunther and the cougar selling it
The 918 has and will always be my favorite car ever. Its design, its history, and its sound... truly a breathtaking car
You guys have the best jobs in the world honestly. Seeing the pure joy in your faces driving these insane machines just makes me so happy to see how far Donut has come. Keep up the amazing content fellas! I’m here for it!
Nice seeing the 924. I have three and a parts car. Ones a 924 SCCA car, a 931 being built for champ car, and one stock
sounds like you got one for every situation! love it.
For just straight up looks, the Gunther Werks is nice
Yeah, she was pretty fine
I'd love to know how to do that zoom out effect.
i absolutely love the 924, you can only get one without an engine here for 3k
Yeah, they exaggerate. Maybe $7,000.
@@toddaulner5393nah you can still get one for just over 3k. But it needs work and hasnt been on the road for 10 years or so 🤷🏽♂️ there's one for sale on autotrader right now that's exactly that its 3.5k runs and drives but needs some rust repair, paint, the sunroof doesn't work and it doesnt have an MOT
Never been this early to a Donut video, love the content!! ❤❤❤
20:49 James got me rolling💀
best part of the video lmao
944/ 924 / 914 forever goated
You forgot the 968. There's a Singer-like restomod version of those that will hit the roads shortly n the engine, drivetrain n suspension r being built by some very very capable folks from a company called Italtecnica out of Italy.
I'm not really a fan of the 914 though but apparently there's a restomod version of those too bound to hit the roads. They look kinda off to me. Like one of those old school Fiat/Abarth sportscars.
+ 928
@@Icejay932right? 944 guys don’t mention the 928 because it’s far superior 😂

You should do a Porsche Cayman S high car, low car
I was in high school between '05-08. Those 944s and old Zs were a lot of people's first car. They were sick! Wish I could go back and live those days again
Same, a buddy of mine had one (944) in HS and loved it!
I drove a 22 Boxster S and I've driven a few VW cars it feels soo ridiculously different to absolutely everything I've ever driven i love these driving every car videos brilliant work.
Begin "Cool story bro"
So my dad bought a 1966 911 back in 1986(?) when we lived in the states.
“I was like nice! Like we had a chance” 😂😂
Listing the best parts bin special cars would be a good episode
The one from Gunther Werks was drop dead gorgeous
That Porsche didn't look half bad either :P
This one was epic Donut crew!!! So many sweet collabs and cars!! Best video yet, the amount of work that must have gone into organising all this, chefs kiss 💋
Porsche owner here. Can confirm great brand and usable performance.

hey can i have the 924? ill give u a high five?
We need a monolist of lap times at the Streets
17:14 I know there are people who would take either the P1 or the LaFerrari over the 918. But for me, the Porsche is always my favourite. It might be the least powerful and the heaviest, but it's the most practical overall.
Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.
How could you forget the ultimate Porsches the P111 and the tiger
The porsche tiger was an excellent…… car?
Anyone notice the Big time t-shirt?
This was next level.. topic put aside, the presentation and editing is awesome. It got me excited to see what you bring us next.
That 924 S has a Carrera GT body kit. That slowed it down because it's not as aerodynamic as the stock body!! It's going to look good when it's completed.
Wait. Vin is wearing a Big Time shirt?
A Hi-Lo 911 series would be dope to see 😌
