Doesnt the gas break down whatever you used to reseal it fairly quickly?

Gas doesn't break everything down, but some things, yes. But I was thinking the bulb, being rubber, was able to seal itself just lime an o-ring, without any added adhesive. That seems only logical, since it is soft rubber, and is captured in a compressed state around the perimeter by that snap-on ring.

Would you be able to answer a question for me. I recently brought a petrol strimmer from Sgs and never used it. I return the strimmer to them unused condition when they looked at it they said as there was fuel in the priming buld i had added fuel and attempted to start it, which i did not. My question is would there still be fuel in the buld from them testing the strimmer as surely they would have tested it first. I would really appreciate your thoughts. Many thanks.

    How did you separate it?

Have the same issue myself.. I listened to what he said but having a hard time splitting the round “cover” off to replace the bulb..

I am probably way too late to be of any help, but I think that is why he wanted to use a heat gun on it, to warm up the plastic just enough to be more rubbery and not hard and brittle. It is a fine line to get it just soft enough to pry apart without getting it so hot it warps it.
Also, a person needs to be careful to not damage the flat sealing surfaces above and below te bulb's rubber flange. Both flat surfaces that pinch the bulb flange need to be smooth and shiny to sel properly.

@@logmeindangitI tried to use WD 40 to lubricate it but still couldn’t separate those two little pieces.

Ignore the comment above me. This exactly what I needed to know because I can't find a replacement within 50 miles. Thanks.

this makes no sense when the cost of these with new air filters and plug is only $10.00! cost me more in time than what its worth I mean they snap in and out fast. this is asinine

I thought the same. I just bought bulb assembly with extra bulbs for $15.00.

Buying 1 assembly & extra bulbs means you will be doing what they do in the video if you use the same assembly when the next bulb needs replaced.

If the silicone is gone, why would you go to the trouble to disassemble the valve itself when you could replace the entire assembly and not wait for the obviously very old valve to fail. Wasted time. I'll bet you use a lot of duct tape around the house ;~).
