I rode this with my sister a couple days ago, not expecting much because it was in Toontown. But oh my word. This ride is spectacular. Concept, execution, and design are all outstanding.
With the entire que and the subtle changes to the ride to make it more back-car friendly, as well as the fact that the ride just feels more "at home" in Toontown, I'd say Disneyland does Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, the best 👌
Well one part that does not make sense in the California one is they still have the screen that opens up to walk through, in Hollywood studios it feels as your going to a movie on earth then get transported to the cartoons vs California your already in the cartoons and then go into the cartoons again, so Hollywood studios wins in my opinion.
Grew up at Disneyland. Rode this for the first time with my kids in Hollywood Studios Spring of 2022. The first thing after riding I messaged all of my family out West and told them they had to ride this. Extremely well done. So happy Disneyland got it as well. The queue looks amazing. This is the most impressed I’ve been with a new attraction since I was a kid and rode Star Tours for the first time. This is an absolute home run by the Imagineers.
I’ll admit that I groaned when my fiancé and her sister were dead-set on riding this and paid for the genie+ to ride it. Its not my kind of ride, but I was completely blown away. It’s totally convincing that you’re inside a cartoon.
As much as I miss The Great Movie Ride, the way they utilized the already existing space is cool. The queue is fun and I enjoy the references to different Mickey Mouse cartoons. Also trackless rides just allow for so much creativity (i.e. Daisy's dance room)
I've ridden this ride at Orlando multiple times and it is BY FAR my favorite ride in the Hollywood section of the park. I LOVE it. It's so refreshing and cute and the animation and mechanical work are amazing! I can't wait to experience this one day in Toon Town!
I love the cue for Disneyland, I hope someday that Hollywood Studios can update to look like the Disneyland's. You have the best video skills of capturing every part of the ride, I will forever be a TPM crew member for life!!!
I road it myself actually on the 100th anniversary (the day it opened) it was so cute. The queue was everything. I loved seeing the years of Mickey. Personal favorite was seeing the Mickey Mouse club house and potatoland Lincoln 😊
So happy that Disneyland also got Mickey and Minnie’s ! It is a nice addition to Disneyland with two new extra added scenes and new que.I can’t wait for the new toon town to be finished. And I love watching your vids I have been around since you have started thank you for making me enjoy my weeks all these years thank you ❤
I just realized, and its kind of strange, that this is the first ride in Disneyland that features main characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and Goofy.. onky other one I can think of is in California Adventure, Goofy Sky School but Goofy isn't even really on that
We tried to ride this ride 6 times over the course of three days and could never get on. Two times the ride was broken and closed, one time it broke while we were in line and they sent us out after an hour of waiting. Another time despite having a lightening pass they closed Toon Town for the fire works, and on our last day the ride never opened at all. This looks really fun, but we were extremely disappointed. The day we waited an hour the cast member said, “rides break down a couple of times a day and we should just deal with it in our expectations”. Kinda sums up what Disney thinks of its herd of customers.
After years of only visiting California Adventure we finally returned to Disneyland 2 days ago. Something that isn't translated well with any video is the non-visual effects. At 4:09 hidden fans in around you will blow your hair around, really selling the idea that you're in a whirlwind!
At 7:02, I think they forgot to change Goofy to face towards the (audience’s) right side, because on the this (ToonTown) version, the picnickers (Mickey & Minnie) are on the right side. While on the HS version, they are on the left side.
This is the first time I’ve seen this ride. Didn’t know what it was. It looks amazing and I like that it goes on for awhile. It’s not a short ride. That awful toontown land was in desperate need of a new real ride besides Roger Rabbit. Looks like they did it with this. It does move a bit slow, I guess it’s like those dark rides.
The queue looks completely different, offering a homage to all of Mickey's history rather than you walking through a theater, and the part where Mickey hits the track switch has them riding along and then hits it right as Goofy's done talking. The switch also just turns rather than just fall over. It's a small detail, but I like that more than what happens in the Hollywood Studios version. Happy to see this attraction reach other places and I can only hope it could reach California at some point.
Some animation bits look different too. Instead of Mickey and Minnie being on the oppose of each other in the western part, Minnie's is on Mickey's right accidentally get tangles up with him that way (3:54). The Kraken in the underwater bit is stuck in rocks and pulls up the drain which Pluto gets sucked into rather than just stay static occasionally playing a trumpet. Goofy at the end has a whole new part of him trying to find the brake which leads into the final shot with Mickey and Minnie too. There is a goof in the ride however as Goofy talks to Mickey and Minnie at the end, but in the wrong direction, probably because he looks that direction in the Hollywood Studios version and the didn't bother to change it.
The little plaques that tell you what each prop is are so damn hilarious. They have a level of comedic bashing of disney that you really wouldnt expect out of them
I just went on the version at Disney World in Orlando, and I can say that it was one of my favorite rides! I do have to say though, I’m quite envious of the queue in Disneyland. Much more magical than the Chinese Theater recreation in Florida.
This new attraction is a little weird at first, because the 2D animation got some plastic surgery. 🤣JK! Please continue uploading more ride videos from Disneyland, Disney California Adventure and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom/Epcot when you get a chance to do that. Thank you so much.
Just went on this ride yesterday and it was the cutest thing ever!! Literally felt you were in the cartoon!! However, towards the end of the ride, I could have sworn I heard a derogatory word come out of Goofy's mouth. So sure that my boyfriend and I looked right at each other at the same time with shock on our faces. I searched for this video on TH-cam for the clarity because I had a hard time believing I heard what I heard. Check the 7:04 mark and tell me I'm lying 🤥.
Goofy says, “…well, hey beginners. I told you nothing was going to go wrong….” Listen carefully. At first when I re-listened to this line at 7:04 I thought I heard him say something very inappropriate, but on a second careful listening, you can clearly hear the word he says is, “beginners.”
I had a funny moment where when the song ended, we were right in front of Mickey and they were staring at us when it said, "nothing can stop us now!" And we were at an awkward pause....and then slowly started playing the song again. It was likely unintentional but I got a good laugh out of it.
The queue alone makes it better than Disney world's version as well as the fact that it didn't replace a beloved classic attraction like the great movie ride
I wish Disney would create more unique experiences for their cloned attractions. Like maybe including some new elements or a scene change just so it’s not a complete carbon copy ❤

Watching after a video is nothing compared to actually being there in person when you can feel you're so being pulled all around in the runaway train. So worth it and better than Hollywood Studios in Florida basically because the track in OG Disneyland was built from the ground up rather than over a already built attraction like great movie ride which limited how the track moves through
The guy dancing along and waving his arms in the dance scene is giving me life
he is like my dad this ride is amazing to be a kid again
This is spectacular! The animatronics are unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Walt would be so darn proud.
he has seen it
The ones in the car at the beginning especially imo. They manage to capture the bouncy and wobbly look of the cartoon characters perfectly.
They totally not gonna be possessed 😊
He will be proud at the theme park, not the company

was there a drop? or was it like haunted mansion just a little bit quicker?
@@kristirosales147 there's no drop. Best way to put it is that it's a less extreme version of Rise of the Resistance
Yeah, this ride was amazing, I thought it was going to be boring because it’s Toontown, but it’s so cool!
They way the queue goes through all the eras of Mickey shorts is so cool!
It’s an attraction in itself!!

❤❤❤
Yes is cute
The queue treating Mickey shorts as entirely staged fiction and the ride’s transition into literally stepping into the cartoon is such a great touch.
The queue looks better than the one in Hollywood studios because it shows through the history of the Mickey Mouse shorts and tv shows.
Agreed.
I think the que in Florida makes a lot more sense thematically, but the history of Mickey Mouse is a cool concept.
@@mr.cheese8604 Feel the same way. The Florida one feels way more iconic too,
