I won’t lie. When I heard the Great Movie ride was replaced with this. I was very dissapointed. In my childhood my brother sister and I once rode this ride 3 times in a row. We loved it. Well. I finally got to experience the new ride and Disney did not disappoint. Mikey and Minie Runaway railroad was a perfect replacement to an iconic ride. And after 3 days in Disney with my children the only ride we rode twice was this one. I’d say it’s the perfect replacement.
I rode it for the first time on the 14th this month, my favorite effect was the wind in the tornado scene. One of my favorite parts is how we randomly stumble into daisy’s dance studio in train cars and she just starts the class like it’s completely normal 😂😂, now that made me feel like I was in a cartoon short👏🙏😇👌!!!!!!
And they put subwoofers into the seat for rumble effects as well. 52 video servers run this ride since it’s all projection. When the lights are on the ride itself is all grey. I hope this means in the future some of the scenes can get custom holiday makeovers
The screen moving up in the intro to reveal the hole in the wall is incredibly noticeable in person. No one in that room was questioning how they did it. The tornado room tho. You can feel that. And when you drop down the waterfall it feels like your actually falling.
yes especially when the train runs into the barn and the wall lifts up revealing a hole cause in real life it was not that obvious so i came to this video to see how it worked
@ChickenNoodle5 this is this is definitely something that has to be experienced person feeling The car moved in the immersion is incredible. Definitely a must a ride.
He’s been a football player. He’s been a hockey player. He’s been a skier. He’s been a tourist. Now he’s a train conductor. I don’t think we should be giving Goofy any more jobs...for the safety of those in toontown
The way that last room transforms at the end of the ride is insane. It's just just screens. Actual set pieces were designed and built to literally change into other set pieces.
Fantastic editing work here. Thanks so much for putting all the shots together the way you did - it's a lot easier to understand the story going on here this way. I honestly had no idea how Mickey & Minnie ended up in a tornado after the amusement park from other videos - you're the only one that made sure to show a shot of them getting sucked over into it. Plus I just like seeing as much of those animatronics as possible. The projection mapped faces kinda look weird at certain angles, but dang they are expressive as heck and look great! Seriously, great job editing this!
Now THIS is a great ride! Immersive, entertaining, perfectly themed and balanced, and is overall a very memorable experience that you can enjoy and experience in a whole new way every time you go on it!
The sets and designs are really awesome! You really feel like you're in the cartoon world! That said, I think the faces of the Mickey and Minnie animatronics are a little iffy. Side note, the group doing the conga @ 4:42 - 4:50 was adorable.
I would love to go on this ride if I have the chance to sooner or later, and I agree with you! I would definitely start dancing with that Daisy animatronic as well!

One of the best rides Disney has added in decades! So much fun for all ages.
Give a big prize to whoever provided the animation for a ride this big.
Thank the talented folks at Mercury Filmworks, Paul Rudish, and the Disney TV Animation Studio for that!
Man, they really nailed the cartoon aesthetic in this ride.
Must’ve been a right bugger to build and design
That’s really the whole point of the design it’s supposed to be based off the Mickey shorts which are cartoony
It is really hard to tell what is a projection and what is a three-dimensional object
I like that.
