Thank you so much for watching! xx
I'm here for my daily dose of "Hey Everyone" by Julia
haha
There’s no doubt it’s one of the best set ups on the market today, it’s an absolutely stunning lens.
In this video it was in the hands of the best natural light model photographer on TH-cam. Then having an outstanding model who can portray so many emotions by such subtle movements helps. I think your photography has to be of a high level before you notice the benefits of this set up, poor composition with an amazing lens doesn’t suddenly become a great composition. However the images you compose with the models you use become absolutely amazing, it adds something to your photography.
Another absolutely brilliant video.
I haven't even watched the video yet. It's paused, but I would like to say thank you, Julia and Dan. You both work together and so hard to share your work, viewpoints, and talents with us.
The title of the video alone made me smile because I really love how your videos related to a viewers point of view, that makes sense. Like, things I wonder or think of in terms of photography you make videos about that. It's so helpful and I'm a visual learner. Learning and studying the bts videos, comparison videos, working with a model, editing, etc.
Thanks ✌🏾
Thanks Nathan! :) Lovely to hear that and hope you enjoyed todays video!
Just love the way you say "Hey everyone!" at the start of video. And of course, the video is helpful as usual. 😊
The light was so diffused and perfect . Great shots 🙌🏼
The light was so perfect this day 😍
I am so glad that Julia is using her Sony more on the channel, slowly but surely coming to the dark side! Hahaha! I look forward to the day she posts BTS of her wedding work!:)
That bokeh on your last shot is amazing! Looks like something you’d get from a 50 or 85!!!
Might just be my amateur self being easily impressed but I loved the colours on the raw versions. They look so crisp, clean and bright! I'm a little in awe.
Beautiful photos, love the colour and contrast. Look like you and A7m3 are perfect match!
Please do a portrait shoot like this with the 28mm f2! I've been eyeing that lens up for awhile and would love to see this editorial style of portrait with that lens, thanks Julia!
its a great lens for fashion... I love my 28mm for this ..you can get in close & get full body shots when normally you might struggle because of space or if you are on a busy street . gives a nice field of view & not a lot of distortion .
I love this lens too 😊 awesome shots, the ones with the sun near the end are magical! I find this lens is super fun for lowlight situations, it focuses surprisingly well
This is my favourite lens amongst my current collection.
the photos are so great. I would love to see if you could do a quick comparison between the sigma 35mm f1.4 art lense with this. The Zeiss lense seems like a great lense to have.
This is high up on my list of comparisons to make for sure! I will work on it 😊
Yes I want to get a 35mm but after seeing this the zeiss is a beast also
Thanks for your videos. They inspired me to be a natural light photographer. I am on the Sony a7rii with a 55mm 1.8. I love the simplicity of my set up versus my Nikon days. Love your work!
Julia, don't forget to update your Sony a7iii if you haven't already. It assigns your shutter button to Eye-AF so that you don't have to press a button to activate Eye-AF!
Well, I think 1) you´re an artist, 2) this model poses so nicely and 3) this location is awesome. :) (love your new presets)
If you can, try Sony Zeiss 50mm f 1.4 also sometime. It was my favorite Sony lens when I was still shooting with Sony. Rendering was really beautiful and pictures were super sharp.
Can you make a video about how you go through selects, what programs you use to cull/fav photos, storing photos, etc?
I have a few workflow videos on my channel already about this! You can do a search for speed workflow and it should come up 😊
@@juliatrotti Thank you just found them! These videos have SAVED MY LIFE!
im so pleased you have got this lens as I know how much you love the 35mm focal length & can know see the full potential of the Sony mirrorless system & how efficent it is & can help your workflow . I shoot with other photographers & often notice how quick I am using my Sony a7riii at getting the shots I need & if they are using a DSLR how slow they are . the firmware update of the a7iii/riii now having eye AF on the half press of the shutter if amazing & I find gives me more time to be creative with composition & less time thumbling with camera settings to focus & to review exposure etc. Im waiting for the soon to be released Sony 35mm F1.8 which im sure will perform as good if not better than the Sony Zeiss 35mm F1.4 & about half the price I would presume & smaller & lighter..... look fwd to seeing more... beautiful Images you got from this shoot, beautifully styled ..great work
Love that lens!! 🤯 Next to try is the Zeiss 50 f1.4 or the Zeiss 55, please.
I have had 3 copies of the zeiss, what a waist of money,... just pure hype!... but the planar!... mamita querida!... I ended keeping it of course. Right know looking for a good deal on this 35 1.4.
Queen of 35 mm. You just made photography look an easy job! Love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing 😁
Hitesh Jain agreed!
Great photos! Just curious why you didn’t shoot at ISO 100. Just wanting a certain shutter speed?
Kevin Taber my thoughts as well
Zeiss Fe 35mm F14 lens gives beautiful photos
Can't wait for Zeiss 50mm f1.4!!!
Hi Julia,
Another amazing video, thank you :) Every time when I see an edited photo from you I truly believe that "yeah, this photo is awesome with this desaturated colours, or yeah, this warm tones look amazing on this photo". However when I am about to start an editing process I always have trouble that how to decide the end result in advance what I am going to target during my editing process. It would be awesome to watch a video about this topic, just like a guidline which gives us a helping hand. I know that sometimes it depends on the mood what I want to achieve, but could be good to get some hints regarding to this :)
Thank you so much for making this entire process and then uploading it on TH-cam channel 🎉
Fantastic photoshoot! The A7III with native high quality lenses changed photography :)
Thank you!
Another stunning shoot! I’m curious... have you ever tried the Viltrox AF85mm f1.8. II FE? I’m thinking you’ll like it. Keep up the great work!
I think the next lens you should try is the Sony FE 85mm F1.8. I have this lens, and the price-to-quality ratio is pretty good. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Julia did you ever try the planar 50 1.4? I’m behind that lens , did not convince me the zeiss 55, beside it size, but for a size friendly lens I already have the 50 1.8.
Great shots, Julia! Btw, not sure if you're aware. There's a new firmware out where you don't have to hold-down a custom button to activate Eye-AF. You can have it on full time if you wanted.
Thanks! I do have the latest firmware I just personally find it a little distracting having it on all the time 😊
Hi Julia, thanks for the video!
Questions:
1. Why you did not use the histogram on the live view?
2. Do you use ligtht meter? Or just rely on the live view with some exposure compensation?
3. What version of firmware do you have in your Sony A7III? It's better to update to the latest one. It has real-time eye autofocus.
OMG❤️❤️❤️❤️ the colours on this 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Nice work! Your photos have quite a noticeable jump in contrast from those taken with the canon. I guess thats the zeiss legendary contrast coming through. I'm hanging out for Sony to release a 35mm f1.8 for full frame. I don't need the 1.4 and would rather have a lighter lens. I have the 85mm f1.8 and its superb.
Oh my God! You are my inspiration as a photographer. Hope one day i can take wonderful pictures as you do. LOVE your art!
Ahh you are the sweetest, thank you!!
I was wondering: How many photo's do you usually take during 1 photoshoot and how many do you usually keep/edit?
1 thousand based on the non-stop shutter-sounds during the clipped video =D
@@OrkhanAlizade I do that too. I shoot almost a thousand photos and edit only 5 :)
those photos look amazing. great job everyone!
I’m considering purchasing this particular lens what do you think between this one or the new 35mm 1.4 GM?
congrats on new lens - the eye detect on the A7 III A7 III A9 is the best
These shots are insane!! Would you recommend the Sony a7III over Canon 5Dmark IV?
Frank Surdal yes
Have the 5D Mark IV and just bought the Sony today
Katelyn’s Eating Show and how do you like it over Canon5DMkIV?
Cool vid and great shots! I have the a7III and the 35 1.4 as well. Liked your presets so much I went ahead and bought it!
Ah thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
Hi!! What's the value of your creative style for those photos? Amazing photos
Your photography is great
Thanks a lot Would you recommend sony 35mm 1.8? Or sony 1.4 is sharper
this really makes me thinking about buying into Sony rather than Canon.. The last Carl Zeiss lens I shot portraits with was my beloved Yashica T5 with a tack sharp 35mill Tessar 👌
Madeline has an amazing look!
where in sydney did you go for this shoot :) .. also do you enhance / contour the upper lip line and area below nose in post a pit to exaggerate or was this on makeup before the shoot.
Feeling lazy pressing the Eye-AF button? Update your firmware so you can be even lazier! It automatically finds the eyes with the latest firmware, no extra button required 👌🏻
Wes Perry brb...
Is great shoot professional model lol ... you don`t need to say anything, and they pose so natural.
Hey Julia, love your videos!! just wondering whether there's a way to adjust the intensity of your preset when applied on my photos?
I'm glad you got a native lens. The shots turned out great. 👌
That lens loves Madeline.
I loveeee how youre so Nice and kind to your models❤️can you make a video of testing the 50mm 1.8?
You’ve always been great at engaging with your audience. I don’t use presets but will definitely purchase yours to keep supporting your awesome work.
Hi Julia! I love your style of photos so much. You are an inspiration for me
Interesting! I have a boudoir photoshoot coming up and I just picked up a sigma 30mm f/1.4 so im definitely interested to see what they come up like. Props to your model too! She just made that shoot simple to say the least 👌
Great video, the photos turned out amazing! Your model is amazing with her ability to pose so fast!
What does retain texture mean? I am looking to buy wither an a7iii or a7Riii 42 mp) but i’m only a beginner so what makes the editing harder in higher megapixels? Thanks you for the video!
Great work again! The auto focus is crazy good too
Is there any way that I could download the raw version of these photos? I've been contemplating buying this lens but there are no raw samples online to download! :(
have u updated the firmware? eye af with the shutter button rightaway :)
I was going to mention the same thing. Updating the firmware to 3.0 will give you the eye auto focus on AFC as soon as you half press the shutter. I love your videos by the way. Thanks for sharing
Yep! Firmware is always up to date. We regularly have EyeAF turned off so that we can control when to use it with a remapped button.
In some cases u do not want the focus on the eyes :)
awesome dan! now i get it.
Yet another awesome video Julia. The photos look amazing. So does this mean you're converted from Canon to Sony now?
Hi Julia, do you shoot Manual mode or On Aperture priority?
This is one of my favorite lenses! Sooo good
I would love to get a hands on this baby! Thanks for the video.
Hows it fare with black n white pics? Recommend this camra for landscape?
WOW! Such a killer combo! I think you just helped me out on which lens to get once I'm blessed to purchase the Sony a7iii. 😄
LOVE .....amazing PICTURES........big COMPLIMENTS
Nice! Is it an eBay special or eofy bricks and mortar purchase? I saw quite a few tempting ones online recently. Heaps located in Melbourne and Sydney, practically none in Brisbane :(
bricks & mortar - camerapro is actually in Brisbane and they often have some of the best discounts & prices in AU, which then Georges in Sydney happily price matches :D
She's staring into my soul for the first 25 seconds 😳
Hello, why do you use ISO200 and not ISO50? I always use ISO50, is not a good idea?
I have been doing so much photography research and have loved your videos so much! So helpful! I received my A7riii the other day and this lens as well and I am having trouble setting up my camera. My pictures are coming out blurry and I watched your setup video but I’m still having trouble! If you ever have an extra minute to help me troubleshoot I would be sooo grateful! I’m really looking forward to taking pictures of my wiggly 4 year old but so far it’s been super difficult! Hope you can help me! Thanks for all the wonderful videos and information!
Compare with Canon EF 35mm f1.4 L II, in your opinion, which one is better?
She answers your question in the video. The Sony has way more detail (her words, not mine)
@@cmaciasjimenez Thanks Jimenez. In my opinion, Zeiss would be sharper but I just would like to know the difference between those lens in terms of color, skintone and contrast.
@Julia Trotti Sony just announced a native 35 1.8. Half a stop slower but half the price of the Zeiss.
A 35mm 1.8......Fail.
GreenRC24 why?
@@AlexanderBischof f/1.4 is better than f/1.8, more light, more bokeh.
Tsitris46 and it’s still too expensive....
Hey Julia!! Thank you for some nice content. Beautiful stuff. It would be awesome to see you play around with a Fuji and some nice Fuji glass in a future video! Maybe some thoughts on pros and cons with the xt3 vs other system you have tried... , and test of the f1.4 versions of Fujis 23mm, 35mm, 56mm and 90mm.. Would be a nice set of videos. Beautiful work anyway!
Hi, Julia, I'm from Argentina. I would like to know which camera they did with the video Dan. Regards!
Hey Hernan, this video was shot on a a7smkii :)
Julia great shoot 👍
Julia, what do you think about the rumoured Sigma 35mm f1.2 FE?
I’m very excited to hire and try it!!
Totally conflicted. I’m a canon lad but debating on updating to canon 5d mark iv or grabbing a Sony a7iii. I’d love to use it for both photo and some vid work to see what the hype is about. How much are you loving the sony a7? Literally have spent weeks researching and I’m incredibly torn especially because canon is just so gorgeous with color
I moved from Canon 5D iv to Sony A7iii and I don't regret it at all. Canon generally still has a better white balance in my opinion, but it's easily corrected in lightroom. The files of the A7iii however are so much better. There is more DR and also images are sharper. Not to mention the AF just makes life so much easier. Both are great cameras, but for me the A7iii is superior.
Fantastic photos and such a beautiful model.
So many mixed reviews putting the Sony 35mm f1.8 better for newer lens tech but the creamy bokeh from Zeiss 35mm f1.4 though. Would you ever do a comparison of the new Sony 35mm f1.8 and the Zeiss 35mm f1.4? I’d love to see what you think of the f1.8. Keep up the great content and TY!
I love my Sony a7iii the focus is insane
Great video Julia :) Will this lens replace your Sony 28mm as an all-around travel lens?
Ha, was wondering when you'd put the Sony to the test. Eye AF is liberating. No idea how you used to manage to get so many sharp shots with your Canon! Glad it's working out for you.
Do you shoot in A/V or Manual for your exposure?
Which is better among zeiss 35, sony gm 35, and sigma 35 art?
As always love your work.
Thank you!
Would love to see a photoshoot with 35mm 1.8, as it’s smaller and lighter and great for traveling:))
color grade in this video is great
I don't understand why shoot at. 1/1000 f1.4 ISO200 , if you like bokeh at 1.4 . you can take same pictures with best quality to ISO100 1/500. Are there any explanation?
I am hoping you would do a step by step tutorial of a photo straight from camera to the computer on how you edit. I wonder if you just click a preset on a Raw file and that’s it?
I have a couple of those videos up on my channel but I'd be more than happy to record and updated one soon as well! Usually I click on the preset and depending on the lighting on the day I adjust the exposure and white balance, then move over to photoshop to do some skin retouching :) I like to keep it as simple as possible!
how you normally set your eye focus in sony on portrait?
I'm new to your channel/videos. Are you typically a natural light photographer or do you prefer to use controlled lighting?
Congratulation to this lens. I use it since one year. I love the high contrast in backlight situation. What do you think comparing to other lenses?
Thank you! It's a stunning lens, like I mentioned in this video I adooore what the lens flare looks like when shooting backlit, nicest lens flare I've managed to capture compared to all my Canon L series lenses!
My favourite prime are Sony Zeiss 55 1.8 👍📸
which mode you usually use ?(a mode, s mode, M mode)
You make photography fun
Just curious, do you always shoot on the lowest apeture? I tend to bump it up a few stops, i feels like the pictures are sharper when i do so
Yep I personally prefer shooting on wide apertures for depth of field, I also love the way light looks at shallow DOF! And you're right, when you bump up the aperture your photos will be sharper overall, but that's not the look I'm going for in my work. I like the eyes to be in focus and nothing else really matters for me with my personal portrait photoshoots!
just quick question . Why do you shoot at such a high shutter speed even in good sunlight ?
It's because I look to shoot with wide apertures of 1.4 which creates nice DOF but also lens a lot of light in. If I shoot with lower shutter speeds, my photos would be overexposed!
Great content, loved this shoot ❤️ Did you style the model? Would love to know where the dress is from??
Thank you and yes! I got the dress from Faithfull the brand :)
@@juliatrotti Thank you for replying 🙌 Looking forward to your next video😘
