      I played the trilogy with a female Shepard and at 6:02 was said "...and she..."
      I thought to my self "maybe they got something wrong here and wanted to say he"
      And after it ended, Shepard ask "why she?"
      And kolyat say that it was not for Thane but for you
      Bro that got me so hard so hard...

      There were a lot of touching moments, all really depended on your choices... I remember Romancing Jack and when she tattoo'd shepherd and said, "So if they find you buried in rubble they'll know that you're mine! And you cant die!" And god dam it if I didnt shed a tear after her whole story arc

      @@christopherdavidson17 I think Thane's death was the most sad moment I lived in Mass Effect trilogy. The character is hardly touched by loneliness and regrets, and seeing him die, with Shepard and Kolyat, the son he didn't saw growing up, with the music... it was very sad.
      But I know that if you save the Geth on Rannoch, and only the Geth, Tali... has a very bad moment. I didn't have enough balls to do that myself so I saw the scene on TH-cam, but I think that moment is the real most heartbreaking scene ever made in video games.

      But if you chose "control" you will be still alive but as machine, same as EDI. Not the worst choice in my opinion, especially after Legion's sacrifice and all that time you were spend on raising "humanity" in EDI. You even can build a new body for yourself.

    • @Jmoney32689
      @Jmoney32689 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yeah, but it also basically allows Shepard to become God by giving absolute authority over a near-implacable army that can commit genocide on a whim.
      What happens if Shepard becomes so disillusioned with his new form and becomes just like the Catalyst due to having no humanity left?
      It’s arguably the most dangerous of the choices because it ensures that the Reapers can still be used for whatever their leader wants.

I noticed they added his name to the death board on the Normandy, which is nice. after that mission when i went to see Garrus standing at said board, i thought he was gonna talk to Shep about Thane (especially because i romanced him), but he didn't. And Shep didn't even have the option to bring him up! Only Ashley (or Kaidan for other players) :(

Watching Thane get beaten by this little bitch angered me but then I remembered Thane is terminally ill, severely weakened and still managed to hold off Kai Lang then the hospital with his son, god damn. Even to the end he was a great man. And hearing him say:

    I was like no Thane come on, then helping his son recite the words of his people from his book and letting him go.

    So...Shepherd's last words are about this fight being three on one, then Thane shows up making it four on one. Then everybody stands around with their thumbs up their butts while Thane somehow is possessed by a freaking Star Wars Storm Trooper who can empty a weapon and not hit *once*. Then he's killed by a sword because nobody else engages the damn target...ignoring that we are *introduced* to Thane as a master of close combat who drops into a three to one fight and embraces and nulls his mark with her own body guard's weapon, siezed moments before he makes the kill. Thus this death is officially the worst writing ever.

    • @treeflit
      @treeflit 9 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Dusteen Barber First off, Thane is dying. The Best doctors on the citadel thought he would have died by now, and he mentions that he needs to make daily hospital visits. So no he is no longer in his prime or at his best like in Mass effect 2. Also adding more people to a brawl actually helps the 1 instead of the many. He could slam two people who are charging into each other, and lets Shepard winds up for a heavy attack so thane pulls back leaving wide open for a counter blow. Also the more people fighting Kai Leng = the less people protecting the councilor. So no, the writers did put some thought into this fight, but yes 4 people could have taken him. However that still would leave the councilor in the open without protection.

    • @SadTreeButler

      I thought the reason Shepard didn't do anything was because he was afraid of accidentally shooting Thane. I mean the two are jumping all over the place.
      Besides, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Kai Leng under Cerberus cybernetics, look at what that did for Shepard. Don't know if Thane could take that on.

      Also, Why didn't a squad mate proficient in long range weaponry (Garrus) go down stairs to be with Shepard? Why didn't he stay back and take a sniper shot from the balcony while Kai Leng was distracted by Shepard.
      I still like the cutscene but I wish they played out different according to who you take. (like on ME1 when Wrex kills Fist if you take him with you to Chora's Den).

      I agree with Treeflit somewhat here. having years of experience in self-defense myself, i know full well that many against one in close quarters doesn't always favor the one, unless the one is dropped to the ground & everyone else is near enough to kick his/her kidneys. but the 2 fighting was moving so fast that there were never room for others to join in the fray, let alone to get a clear shot. on the other hand, it's very obvious why Thane couldn't do what he did best--he's dying after all & he just couldn't move like he once did.
      But then again, when Kai Leng finally got dropped to the ground, everyone else in the room could have just peppered him with 'suppressive fire', & that would have been the end of him. Bioware really went to lengths to make a lame ass character look more badass than he would have looked.

  • @gamester512
    @gamester512 12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    He's not mentally ill. He has a physical disease that hinders his body's ability to transfer oxygen through his blood. But what I liked most about Thane is his spirituality, despite being a professional assassin, Thane was always more concerned with others than his own well-being. What made this scene so emotional for me is when Kolyat explains that Thane's final prayer wasn't for himself, but for Shepard.

    • @Joshcoshbagosh
      @Joshcoshbagosh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ya its disappointing(as is the game in general imo). I feel like they could have gotten a lot more creative with the companions

    • @mica0710
      @mica0710 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The game isn't that disappointing. I mean, they found a way to not be limited by the story of ME:1, 2 and 3 and with good content. It's true that the end (with the final boss) is pretty lame, I wanted to kick the ass of the guy so hard but still couldn't do so because I killed him by shutting down the electricity...
      But still, the game is good. I just kept saying something to myself all over the game: Reapers would be so dead if they were still alive... I mean, in one hand you have the biggest empire you've ever seen of aliens who can make you one of them. In the other hand, you have maybe billions of robots that you can control or even create more with giant spaceships with no crew needed. I mean... Reapers would be totally screwed if they were to face SAM, the pathfinder AND the ennemies of him.

    • @Joshcoshbagosh
      @Joshcoshbagosh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      its just kind of boring to me. Bioware should stick to more linear gameplay imo. They keep trying to get more ambitious and make their games more "open world" but so far with this game and with the last Dragon Age, it just hasn't really worked for me. Companions are meh. Story is slow and relatively unimaginative so far( I still have a lot left). And every time you you travel to different planets you have to sit through those tedious traveling animations. I guess they thought it would look cool and give you the feeling of "actually flying through space" but its just dull and repetitive. I just cant seem to get super invested in the game. I mean if you enjoy it then thats great. Power to you. I don't "dislike" it. I just don't love it which is disappointing because this my favorite game franchise.

    Thane was the "best of the best" as far as assassins go. he may have lost the overall fight but he managed to keep a healthy (and probably super upgraded assassin) from his target, even though he was terminally ill. here's to Thane the MOST badass assassin i've ever seen. RIP. and if they offer any renegade moves when i see Kei Leng again im really going to enjoy doing them. .

    It's typical, my favorite film and game trilogy both ended in 2012 and I had the exact same gripe with both of them: a poorly executed ending.
    Man I would've loved to have Thane in the party in ME3 but I can't blame Bioware for that, his character arc is fantastic.

    Top 3 Epic Feels in Mass Effect Trilogy. Thane is only accompanied by his son, and Shepard, his friend/possible LI. Awesome prayer, tying in his past before Me2, his adventures during ME 2/3,and his current end of life, plus that little twist at the end ("the prayer was for you, Shepard.") and you have a certified gut puncher.
