- Pfou Tchotar is a 77 year old Sherpa who lives in Khumbu, in the North-East of Nepal. He lives with his family, and in particular with his grandson Soname who is seriously ill. To try to save him, according to Himalayan legends, Pfou Tchotar must go and get his white Yak in the high pastures and then go down to the valley. There, on the occasion of the religious festival of Mani Rimdu, he will offer his white Yak, the sacred animal of the Sherpas, to the gods of the mountain. Will he manage to accomplish his mission and save his grandson?

Thank you for such a wonderful video!! I saw my parents, grandparents and myself and it took me back to my roots. Thank you for making this video starring my grandpa with whom I didn’t get the opportunity to spend my most childhood with. This video means a-lot…
Do you know which year this was. So incredible to watch.
Thanks for the opportunity to experience customs and traditions different from my own.I am a Train t
from Trinidad and Tobago
Bless you and all your people.
I always watch slice documentary and it help me a lot like living in content and simplicity.
This is pure and actual Buddhist way of sacrifice. Thank you for the lovely film🎉🎈
Incredibile people of my country in the lap of most beautiful Mt. Ama Dublum 🏔. Well documented, SLICE!
Sherpas are the pride of Nepal. Loved the video.
Much Love & Gratitude from Virginia Beach ,VA USA ~ teaching me how life is, far from my Home.
💖🙏💕
I'm so glad that the "sacrifice" was actually the freeing of the yak. Much respect for these lovely people.
buddhism
Yea I thought he was gonna slaughter the poor animal..whew
Spoiler alert!
*om mani padme hum* is a wonderful Mantra 🌸
Thank you for a very beautiful Docu. 🙏 fascinating views, people and their culture
Few mistakes in this documentary: 1) Om Mani Pedme Huun is mantra for the God Avalokiteshvara (Chenresig) Buddha of Compassion. Om Ah Huun Benza guru pedma Siddhi Huun is for Guru Rinpoche (The Lotus Born). 2) Bon religion doesn’t sacrifice human but used to do animal sacrifice. 3) The white is not sacrificed but freed (TseThar- Tse= life, Thar =Freed). Because of the prayer flags tried on KarSung (White yak) nobody will hunt or kill him. He’s set to live freely🙏🏽
U got every points .. yaa also not depicted as usual .
How nice to see this people still practices their ancient beliefs despite of how modern society is.
Great video ,love it.
thank for sharing stories about Sherpa people, sherpa culture and religion ✌️🤞
Sorry I gotta quick question, what Sherpa religion and culture is different from Tibetan culture because I’m Tibetan and I see no difference except their language.
Bellísimo 👍👍👍👍🤔 increíble lo duro que resulta la vida allí ... los paisajes preciosos. Gracias por compartir 😊
Beautiful village thanks for sharing
This is practically Tibet but in Nepal. I was in a village in Kham, Tibet, for a couple of months, which is 2000Km east, and the culture is exactly the same. The entire vast Tibetan plateau is Himalayan or Tibetan Buddhist culture which is quite remarkable for a sparsely populated with practically same culture.
It’s sad as the youngsters start speaking the dominant Nepalese and Chinese and lose their native Tibetan language and their rich culture .
Three eyed Shiv-Shankar watches over the whole Himalayan range. He has his trishul with him all the time. There are 3 main lands he is the lord of: land of Yak (Tibet), land of sheep (Garhwal) and land of Goat (China)...
@@rajeevprasad1449 These are two very different traiditions, you can see it in the architecture, the ethnicity of people , the religion etc. A hindu state is India, while a domiant tibeteant buddhist country is Bhutan. They are very different for all practical purposes.
Thank you for the explanation and sharing those beautiful experiences. If we westerners could aspire to such a life of simplicity. Yeah all of you thought that sacrificing meant killing, not on those lands. No, they do not need Jesus they need to be left alone
This is a first for me. Seeing sacrifices is releasing the white yak to freedom up the mountain, rather than killing. Why can’t every sacrificial be like this.?
Wow what a great filming and the content is the hero here..great work my dear friend, enjoyed it so so much...
Masha Allah very beautiful country and nice peoplees life is 👌God bless you all Ameen
Gady ki dum kisko blessings de rehy ho koi aqal nam ki chez ha tum ma ?
Wonderful documentary tuned 🇰🇪 🇰🇪
Nice video..... been watching your documentary
Thank you Slice we love you all. I am very attached to this channel 🏜🏕🏖❤️🙌🏽
to release is the biggest sacrifice. release the human from his own bondage to the animal. to release the animal from slavery. to release one's own fears of letting your servent go. to release one own self from dependence on others.
releasing your support is the biggest sacrifice.
I am impressed.
No doubt their lords are primordial Hindu/Sanatani Devta:
three-eyed Shankar
Mahakaal
Vishnu (Guru Rihinpoche)
and Devi.
har har mahadev!
These are definitely the beautiful people. .💯♥️
So wonderful❤️❤️❤️
Tashi dalek my tibetan condition very beautiful thank you support tibetan story I am come back my tibetan you remember tibetan refuge thank you help 💟💟💟 I feel my tibetan old world please help support Tibet please 🙏💟💟💟
Tem tantos lugares lindo na terra!
8.11.2021 Very good video.Thankyou.
When he say sacrifice. I thought he meant by ending its life. I was beginning to feel sad for the white yak. When actually, he set white yak free. Thati. a very beautiful thing.
wow what a gem
Very nice video
Nice video
Appa yip yip💓
I like their clothes.
The yak was sacrificed in a peaceful way. At first I thought they would slaughter it.
We used to call.."Tsethar Thang "which means set life time free..
Beautiful nepal there's are many kind of culture and people
Nice videos. Feeling sad for animals tks.
Himalayas ever enchanting land
Om mani padme hung !!!!
What kind of language he speaking, I’m a pure Tibetan but I don’t get it what he’s said. Does anyone tell me brief history of sherpa, because in Tibetan it mean Easterners but Sherpa are mostly in Nepal which is southern of Tibet, so it’s bit confusing so if someone know about this knowledge plz share with us. I as a Tibetan love to know about every small detail of our beautiful country and people.🙏
The practice of freeing an animal is a religious custom in Buddhism and is known as "tsethar". Tse means life and thar mean to free. It is practiced by many Buddhist believers. Usually an animal which is about to get slaughtered is saved( through buying) and set free or simply if an animal is too old and instead of sending it to a slaughter house it is set free. Fish, old cows or bull, yak, etc usually benifit from this.
My country Nepal is so beautiful 😍 ❤️
Home sweet home
are you kidding man , i got ready to see some blood and shishkabab . but i am also happy for poor yak!! and snow leopards 😎
Nice story but camera was not too good
Keep it up best off luck of another video
Does anyone know the name of the narrator ? I hear him in a lot of slice videos yet I don’t know his name. He is a very good narrator
Elated that the sacrifice was freedom for the yak
Like top
This festival is called DUPCHOE (DUMJI) not maanirumduk.
the climax made me cry...i thought they are going to slaughter the yak.
ありがとう
Bohat sunadr hai village pls nam batao
When narrator say , Yak sacrifice to please the god to cure the sick child it is confusing until the end of the film .
It is against the Buddhist principle to sacrifice any living things . I was relived when White Yak was Free his life . How about using WORD “ ACQUIT ( Tibetan word. TSETHAR ) than SACRIFICE.
Tibetan Buddhist originated from Nalanda , brought to Tibet by the great master of Nalanda Shantarashita and Padmasambhava from India in 8 century invited by king Tri Song Du Tsen of Tibet .
Buddhist empathize to transform negative emotions into positive by understanding the nature of phenomena with wisdom combines altruism .
Pray to local protector spirit is fine, but main teaching of Buddha is to be kind and not to harm any living beings . Practice of love and compassion with reason and logic .
Pls tell me what name this place
Wondering ..what would have happened to his sick grandson...
Fever
Gorgeous may Jesus bless your land for all mankind
🇳🇵💕
That musk deer looks like a kangaroo with it's tail cut off.
The festival is Dumji, not manirimdu.
Om maney padmey hung is the mantra of avalokiteshvera don't explain it wrongly
i thot theyre gonna kill the yak.. amazing people
If he's got a fever, bundling him up will only make it worse and killing a yak won't help much either. He needs to be in a diaper, with Maybe a light blanket, if it's really cold, and even possibly a luke warm bath, oh and some Tylenol. I know they probably don't have I there but her trying to sweat out that fever could kill him
Thank you Jesus 🙌🙌 I thought for sure they was going to kill it
@@lynnleigha580
In Buddhism we never kill living beings or causing them any harm for our religious practice. It makes no sense for us and it is forbidden.
AMC to the fucking moon 🚀 🚀 🚀.
There Tibetan
TOURISM IS DESTROYING
narrator has forced accent
La femme Tibétaine se marie avec deux sinon trois frères à la fois ...personne ne sait qui est le père de qui ...mais vous n'entendrez jamais des critiques sur cela en occident ...
May God guide them to Islam before death I hope that he will be old people who go to them and invite them to Islam
False gods
One and only God is #Allah
Others think Allah is false. How can you prove Allah is good or there is such thing as Allah?
@@gyadre how do you know the person you call father is actually your father ?
If you prove me that then I'll prove you the the God Almighty Allah Rabulizat!
No one should against other cultures believe . Weather you are Muslim , Hindu ,Christian or Buddhist . . Everyone should believe they own roots , where you come from & stick with it.
Well ,little mountain cattle…I knew yaks did not grow get too tall.
