I've been living with ALS for 14 years and it scares the He** out of me, especially when I lay down to sleep every night, am I going to wake up the next morning? Again, it scares me.😬🥴
Rebecca Luker (1961-2020). Broadway soprano who starred in Phantom of the Opera; The Secret Garden; Music Man; Mary Poppins; Showboat; Passion and others. Rest in Peace Becca.
It's incredible that Steven Hawkins lived as long as he did. I remember he played himself on Star Trek the Next Generation even then you could see that ALS was taken its toll .
I have also read that this disease affects more men than women. Saw there were only three women on the entire list. Strange how some groups like veterans are affected more as well.
I didn't know this either until I researched it. Existing evidence supports the conclusion that people who have served in the military are at a greater risk of being diagnosed with ALS and dying from the disease compared to those with no history of military service.
First, the life expectancy for someone with ALS is low. Often people live for a maximum of 5 years after the diagnosis. In contrast, the life expectancy for most people with MS is almost the same as that of healthy individuals. They are both terrible diseases, but I really wouldn't compare them. Besides that, we've already made a video about MS, so check out our account if you'd like to see it.
Jason Becker was diagnosed with ALS in 1989 and is not only still with us but also continues to write music. He is truly an inspiration to all.

When I was a home health aide, I took care of a guy in his 20's with ALS. RIP Joe.
My cousin and a dear friend both passed from ALS
Lost my sister from this horrible disease. From diagnosis to death was 6 months. She was only 52

Yes, that's right.. ALS is 20% more common in men than women. However, with increasing age, the incidence of ALS is more equal between men and women.
I have Heritary Spastic Parapersis (HSP) it's a benign form of (ALS) . I fight it every day.

So then Ezzard used to beat people up for money, and then he couldn't anymore
Veterans? It looks like the most common folk who get it are athletes.
