I'm almost 37 years old I've spent most of my young teenage years from first time I went there I was at 12 or 13 that was a very long time ago almost 25 years ago ought to be up to my early 30s I've went through every square inch of that entire property all the areas that you can cross over from the main Richmond area over the river on foot on many many different ways I have also rafted floated through the broken Downs on many different types of crafts it is awesome during the summer I've literally went through every bit of all that many many times and beyond and I never got to do all that was there I don't know how many times I've been there there's so many trails you would really have to spend hundreds of hours to travel every spent of it God bless
This is wonderful. We just moved to Chesterfield and this weekend explored Belle isle with the kids for a little history lesson also. Plus, the dry rocks are awesome to climb over. You guys showed us parts well soon be exploring thanks to you. You're voices are also very soothing. Thanks for the history and sights.
Great video. Never saw anything like that foot bridge under the road. Found that very interesting. Those rapids were something else. Certainly wouldn't want to try them out. Definite thumbs up on this video.
If you guys get a chance. The rocks on the side of the island that you "slipped " on the ladder. During the summer those rocks are mostly dry and great to climb around.
@4:00 The wall use to be intact, not just the metal frame, and getting inside was difficult. Back in the day that part of the island was not such a big tourist draw. I had a friend who was a miser and he ate at the church soup kitchens, sometimes I would accompany him. There I met Les the serial killer. My friend Jim knew him, they often ate together. Les sometimes slept in the old pumphouse that is so loaded with graffti today. Les went on to murder 4 or 5 people but the twist is he got framed for several other murders, these were called the Golden Girls murders, due to the ages of the victims. Most lived in the Fan or the West End of Richmond, this was in the 90's. So when you said it looked like a horror scene you were more spot on than you knew. Les died in prison under questionable circumstances about a year after his arrest.
Don't remember how far Shenandoah is from Richmond, but you may want to check it out. Skyline Drive, etc. When we lived in the DC area we'd go there occasionally. If you're in the DC area, GReat Falls is beautiful. Near Potomoc, MD. Similar to the rapids in your video.
Thanks Beckie. We are a bit behind getting this video up. We are actually in Alabama right now. We hope you guys survived the snowstorm that blew through last weekend. We are chasing 70 degrees and failing miserably, but at least we are missing the snow.
Hey, hope you didn't hurt your ankle on the bike ramps? That's a great historical area, I lived at Fort Monroe for a year and loved seeing the sights near by. See ya'll later..
@@WeRmudfun Glad you two had fun. We love exploring backwoods areas. Like lost homesteads and old cemeteries and do charcoal etchings. Just be careful, like Cheryl climbing up that cliff and you running up ramps. I'd hate to hear of one of you having to be carried out by the other.. But, it would be an interesting video. See ya.🤣
Thank you for pointing that out. One of the places I researched said he discovered it, after your comment I went and researched it more and other sources say he explored it. I took the reference I made out of the video. Thanks again. 😀

Hollywood Cemetery is one of the coolest places I've ever visited. ♥️

Thanks, the place was a cool area to explore. That was our first time experiencing a foot bridge like that. 😀

@@hoss1003 Thanks Hoss, we try to be careful and hope nothing ever happens, cause we probably would video it. LOL
How did get up there? I've been trying but I'm never successful . Like the little drain or tunnel I've got there but then what? Please details
Not sure we understand your question.
@@WeRmudfun like inside the building
@@goldensun542 All you have to do is to walk through the front door but there are a few metal bars covering the upper half so you to have crouch down.
Awesome video. I was just there yesterday. I didn't find the graffiti building. Maybe next time
It is a cool place to visit! 🙂
Amazing how the Algonquin people who lived at the falls of the James River never noticed Belle Isle until Captain John Smith discovered it for them
