I’m so glad you guys didn’t delete these old videos. I used to watch/listen to this video and the “Irish Flute + Tin Whistle & Guitar” video 15 years ago. 31 now and still brings back the same feelings as when I first watched it. Absolutely beautiful :)
This is one of the best whistle tunes I have ever heard. I first heard this over 5 years ago and come back to it time after time. If this man ever comes to England I will be there. Much LOVE PJ
It is 2019, @tinwhistler and this video still rocks! You inspired me with this video to start my own journey on the low whistle. Been playing for about 4 months now. I honestly didn’t know it existed until I started listening more closely to Irish music. Now that i know what it is, I hear it a lot more often. Thank you sir for what you do! Keep it up!
Always feel like a celtic gipsy when I hear you two guys playing, transport myself to another dimension with good friends dancing around a big and beautiful bonfire on a lovely forest! Thank you boys for this light dream!
you keep the spirit of the gaelic ancestors arrive and show the internationality vibe of the music that speaks to the souls of so many of us...thank you for putting time into music
You are an inspiration once again :) So happy to have revisited this video.... playing more and more thanks to your music my friend. Bless ya, rock on :)
I love this, cause he tells you when he's changing on the guitar then you go ahead and change on the flute without stoping. You should really make go pro with this.
I was just surfing through links on here and came across this account. I don't think i've ever seen a tin whistle playes before. Its completely different than what i've ever been used to; I play trumpet. Now I've surfed through all of your videos and I love it! You've converted me
I'm curious, if you are playing a whistle that is in the key of D, what do you mean that your brother was telling you "the keys" before each tune? Can a single whistle play in multiple keys?
Exactly, a single whistle can play in multiple keys. Some keys are more difficult (you need to cover some holes in half) and that's when whistles in other keys are useful.
@@TinWhistler Dang, so your brother was calling out different keys in real-time and you were having to play half-covered holes? (since you obviously weren't switching out whistles). That's impressive!
@@teaguehall17 well, not exactly, because he was already aware of the most common (easiest) keys for a D whistle, so he wasn't calling out "weird" keys.
So darn good. I just received a low D whistle today and I've been watching your videos for inspiration. Give it about 10 years and maybe I'll get there hehe
Again, you guys are awesome. Really enjoy your music. I mentioned before about you going professional, ha, I wouldn't mind having a cd of your work now. Thanks for sharing.
OMG, this is amazing. Seriously you boys really know music. I've played the classical flute for years, but I have almost no clue how to improvise. BTW, i luv ur new doo. And that final chord, just sounds like other traditionals and endings I've heard from other national folk music. very cool. don't change it. Cherio!
I just got my Chieftain tuneable v4 low d. Dreaming of playing that well some day! But moving back from england to Ireland soon so hopefully I'll find a good teacher.
I Love your vidéos guys ! I play also low and teen whistle and also spanish bagpipe (gaita) since 7 years ago Good job and good luck . Flo from France.
Just wanted to say I'm loving your music. This is one of my favorites of your vids. I pulled the audio out to an mp3 (hope you don't mind) and often listen to it on the way home from work. So, your music is often playing over the traffic of Georgia roads in the Southeast USA.
whats the first song you are playing i really like it i know you have kind of meshed tunes im asuming you change the tune when your friend shouts out a cord if you could tell me the names of the songs you were playing that would be cool cheers
Amazing!!! Is there any chance you have the sheets of th things that you are playing, I play tin whistle for a couple of months and I would like to learn The old maids of galway, but I can't find the notes somewhere...Also, where did you learned the celctic scales that you are playing?I would appreciate it if you helped me a little.I will sent you a message with my e-mail so you can answer me.Thanks!
Awesome work guys. When you're calling out solfege, are you refering to tonic, in the original key of the first tune, or after you've modulated to the new key? Thanks. Joel.
very sick man. Kinda reminds me of the Jamziba Trio. Just has that very open ended thought towards jamming, it's crazy. Definitely KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
excellent video again mate.. i'm still learning.. at the moment i can play simmilair or something in that direction..i'll make a vid aswell keep 'm coming.. i always love this
Hi, I've been listening to this clip many times by now, learning to play my new goldie :) Any-ways, what version of the Cooley's are you playing? I've found a wide variety of this melody, but not the specific one you are playing, could you perhaps link the site where you found this tune?
As far as I know, in the true style of the Irish flute, there is a constant stream of air and little to no tongue used, much like the bagpipes. I believe that to articulate, you usually decorate the notes (ex going from A to F , would be something along the lines of A-GAG-F, etc). It's a very free style of music. Again, this is to my knowledge (which isn't very extensive)
Congratulations guys It's pretty nice to see you and your brother play very good together. You guys understand each other in a natural way and it sounds pretty good :) Keep up the great work! ;) I think i'm gonna buy myself a low whistle because of you :P
Nice ending... And really good playing. How on earth do you manage to play so much grace notes, and to still play the melody really good? I'm amazed with every video of yourse that comes to my eyes... And ears.
what type of tin whistle is that (i.e. what key) or is that a tin whistle :D i want to learn how to play one, i can play the recorder but this has a special tone to it
I've investigated for you:
Cooley's Reel / The Duke Of Leinster / Master McDermott's / The Old Maids Of Galway / The Abbey Reel
Hey is one of these the tune that’s starts at 1:50 into the video? I can’t seem to find that tune tune thanks

I mostly use ornaments like cuts and taps but I do tongue some note in the beginning of the phrases. I think that's what everybody does.
Very beautiful celtic songs! BIG LIKE from Romania!
