    I agree Kobie the only real fault is that it doesn't name the user mode; maybe that is so you can allocate different ones to ie user 1 on the dial for your days shooting from the selection of 10 you've set?

      Here's the thing though. If that's the case, then what's the actual point of 5 user modes on the dial? They could have just done one mode called UC (User Custom) then we'd just use the control panel or S.Fn to toggle them without having to set up recall user mode etc etc.

      @@KobieMC Kobie say I go out to shoot birds for the day I allocate BIFS (1/3000s) to user mode 1 , user mode 2 to DUCKS (1/500s) for ducks on the water, and User mode 3 to NESTING (1/100sec for nesting bird in the trees in heavy shade).
      Tomorrow I'm off to a kindergarten; I allocate ACTION KIDS (1/800s) to user mode 1 and STILL PORTRAT (1/100s) to User 2 etc.
      Of course there is much more I have set to each User mode eg metering custom image wb etc.
      Now the real feature of the new K3III user modes is you can set the camera to keep a user mode's changes ( make them sticky) even when you turn the camera OFF as long as you don't go out of the user mode. This means if I'm shooting bifs at 1/3000 and I come across a flock of swallows I can push up to 1/5000s and it holds that shutter ( Or any other changes ) until I go out of that user mode - just brilliant! IMO this camera is worth the price for the user mode set up alone.

      Yes, it will retain the initial settings or the last settings but the implementation of the user modes itself (no display of the name for each mode) seems to be a big oversight.
      Say you have 3 different portrait styles, you've named them Portrait 1,2,3 and put them in U3,4,5 and you've stored U2 for black and white jpeg portrait shooting with a name of PortJPG. And U1 is set for action with a name of, well, Action. How are you supposed to recall from just the mode dial which one was which? All you have to go on is U1,2,3,4,5.
      Or, how I had mine set for a while. ActionM and ActionS (Action Movement, Action Static),
      One is for AF.C settings, the other is for AF.S with slightly different mode settings. I also had a street setting and a black and white. Just going by U1,2,3,4 didn't help distinguish which was which on the fly.
      Don't get me wrong, the IDEA is brilliant! But the execution of it needs work.

      @@KobieMC Totally Agree with you Kobie, if they can show the User Mode Name you have currently allocated to user mode number on the dial it would be perfect!
      Glad you you understood what I said above. BTW I am really loving Eye Detection - have mine set to auto zone select and move it around with the joy stick- probably not as good as canon but getting 50% keeper rate I reckon. Canon folks work on 80% but they don't have an OVF; as one said the other day they have to have their camera turned on to see anything.

    Hey,forgot to ask you if you thought about Full Frame. K-1 Mark II?

    • @KobieMC
      @KobieMC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have but at that time I didn't have any full frame lenses so there wasn't any point. I'm saving the pennies and adding to the pool now though since I have some FF lenses now 🙂

    What is the best way to ask Pentax to include the user mode names on the screen? Even the KP has this feature and was great for things like Astrophotography.

    Hey Bud. Great Video. I enjoy your tech vids. I just wrote a short story about any tweaks I may make in my current User Mode are applied to all. And my original settings went Poof. Just forgot to click comment. Can't rewrite.

      @@KobieMC If there were a list of it items not savable in UM's. Or items savable? I did a recall UM1 and it renamed 4 of my five UM'? Or you can see what items are saved in each UM. I think K-3 I did that? I'll look in Manuel.Craig.

    • @KobieMC
      @KobieMC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the K-3 III any changes you make and save to a UM are kept. The confusion is when saving to a box. If you already have a UM set and named and make a change to it, don't press Okay on the screen for naming the box. Just press the shutter half way and it's saved immediately. Same with the control panel switching between UMs. Don't click Okay when swapping through them. Once you switch from one UM to another just start shooting. There is no extra Okay confirmation required.

    I like your TH-cam content, can you please take a landscape photo uninhabited your K3 mk3 and the same photo using your K3 mk1 both of them using the same lens so I or anybody else Who follows you on your TH-cam channel can compare them and to see if it justifies upgrading to the K3 mk3

    I have come as far as "the grip shape" and honestly, this is in my opinion silly as there are as many different hands out there as there are people! I am sorry, but a start like that stops me from going on. But I'll cary on as I am curious as to what this entails! Half way during this video, it is knit picking and just subjective statements. So far it is as he goes through how the buttons are organized, just cosmetic differences. And my final conclusion is, no point in getting k3 lll as my k3 is for my hands, exquisite and most likely takes as good images as the much more expensive mark lll and as just as conveniently.
