    Definitely from 1982 first year mono shock on the RM80s, some cool stuff right here

    I built their race bikes back then, and have never seen this promo.
    Ricky's dad called me yesterday to build a bike for his grandson.

    Omg So Tragic This was R&D Racing Suzuki’s Rick Hemme , Bruce Bunch, and Kyle Fleming . All lost on a tragic car wreck at Ponca City, Ok in 1982. . We’ll never know who among them would’ve been Supercross and Motocross Champions .
    RIP racers with the Heart Of Warriors . God Speed

      Yeah that’s what I thought. Way back then, but isn’t this pretty much when Eddie Hicks kind of lost his way after his best friend (Rick Hemme) was killed in that tragic car wreck? Seems like they were in the car which got hit by a train?

    • @russellhelms2835
      @russellhelms2835 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Seems like Eddie raced off/on through the 1988 season? I remember him on a 1988 KX125 or 250…? Brilliantly fast racer🏆

      Love this old video! I had a 1982 Suzuki RM80Z, ported & polished. Suspension done. It was fast & very reliable! Those were great Suzuki years & great Suzuki MX bikes. Matter of fact, those were great years in general to be growing up👌😎

      There is still some hard feelings about this this, since Dana, the driver from Scott, was the only one who made it out alive. Driving west into the setting sun and failed to see the train coming. The only way they knew it was Bruce was because of the cast on his wrist. Bruce was a badass.

    Haha. I has the same 1980 RM80! The sound of that motor takes me back to when I was first learning to ride MX. That bike was a beast and bulletproof.

    I had a 1980 RM80. Great bike! Bought it used in 1982 for $275. Rode it two years. Sold it in 1984 for $275. Wish I could do that again.

    Thank you for this awesome video, I was racing in 1980 on a 250cc bike and working at a Suzuki motorcycle dealership in 1980. I was surprised to see a moto video on this very diverse channel with very random topics.

      Back when I was a kid, I had a 1982 Suzuki RM80Z. I put #99 on the number plates because of Mike. I still ride even to this day. Got a few MX bikes from the ‘80 & ‘90s in the shop. 250’s & a 1988 KX500 (mint) love em. Still hanging on to my 2-strokes👌🔥😊

    Yes so sad that kyle rick and Bruce lost their lives not long after this video was made. It's says 1980 but they are on 82 RM80s. Also #99 is Mike healey, who went on to win the 80cc national championship in 83 on a Honda. The boys named him stray cat because he left suzuki.

    Ah, I raced a cr125 in 1976, Those were simple times, No worries. Just couldn't wait for school to finish for the day so I could get out on my bike. I was just like the kid in the video. Dreaming of my bike, Oh and getting laid.
