Other than a lot of story inconsistencies, how was Kung Lao's revenant alive after Shao Kahn threw him into the sea of blood; the whole past and present character aspect in 11 has a lot of plot holes because Sonya shot Kano in the past and that erased Kano in the present but when Shao Kahn does something similar to Kung Lao his Revenant is still alive. A hard piece of evidence is when Shao Kahn broke Lui Kang's legs on the ship which affected his revenant, so the plot is very picky at what's convenient. As a side note, can we also put Lui Kang at the 5 or 6 death count because having your legs brutally broken means he's just about to die slowly both from the past and present.
Technically Liu Kang died 6 times because the four you mentioned, plus Shao kahn killed young Liu Kang on the ferry, causing revenant Liu Kang to die before his fight with raiden. Everything else seemed accurate, excellent video
In MK11 when Scorpion and Sub-Zero meet Noob Saibot Scorpion asked you were killed in the soulnado and Noob replyed Quan Chi's crations don't die that easily. Meaning Noob somehow survived.

Kano also died in MK3. Sonya threw him off a tall building. Her dialogue with Jarek proves this. "The Black Dragon died with Kano, you're the last one Jarek"
I really love your content, especially this video I really enjoy the extra effort for sound effects and visuals it gives the video a lot more personality and life to it when in reality it could just be a boring monotone list.
EDIT: this is incorrect information: Scorpion actually died 6 times. He died in deadly alliance when he was thrown into the soul-nado. He was then brought back by the elder gods
Cyrax also died in MK11 when he helped Hanzo and Kuai Liang shut down the Cyber Lin Kuei system. He was planed to be revived by Kuai Liang as a human, but all the stuff with Liu Kang and Shang Tsung happened, so Cyrax was never really revived, until he became a woman in MK1 Khaos Reigns, which is a different timeline.
sindel killing all champions of earthrealm in mk9 was the most insane thing in whole universe. Like Kuai Liang won against both goro and kintaro and got knocked out by an uppercut lol
Scorpion's count is actually a lot higher: Midway timeline - Dies to Bi-Han as a human in MKM:SZ. - Dies to Bi-Han as a revenant in the netherrealm in MKM:SZ. - Dies to Kuai Liang at final battle of MK:A. Honorable mention: You could say he dies in MK:DA by Moloch and Drahmin throwing him at Soulnado, before the Elder Gods bring him back as their champion, but that is a matter of if the EG rescued him before dying or remade him after death, so it's up in the air. Netherrealm timeline: - Same two deaths to Bi-Han in MKM:SZ, since events only start to differ at MK1 tournament. - Hanzo dies to Havik in MKX comic. - Inner Scorpion dies to Hanzo in MKX comic. - Hanzo dies to D'Vorah in MK11 main story. - Hanzo's death to D'Vorah repeats off-camera during Aftermath. So, Scorpion (Hanzo) has died a whole-ass 9 confirmed times, 10 if you count that he died to Soulnado in his MK:DA ending.
Jax, Goro, Johnny Cage, kenshi, Reiko, ShaoKahn, and the deadly alliance should have at least 1 more death because at the end of MK1 the deadly alliance defeats a good deadly alliance and is defeated by Liu Kang, Jax has a weapon dropped on his head by titan Havik, and Goro was killed by all the Johnny cage variants while taking 2 Johnny cages (and Janet cage) with him, since you counted the Mk11 crypt for Goro you should count it for Kenshi, and Shang Tsing sucked other timeline reiko and again Kahn’s soulsand Geras Should have the most because it is stated that he has died millions of times
I would have thought that Cage would have died many more times in the early days due to Ed Boon being angry, at the time, at Cage's actor for being in a different fighting game posing as a variation of Cage.
@lawrenceking1618 same, I honestly used to hate her all because she killed Mileena in X, but over time, especially in 11, D'Vorah had earned my forgiveness and became my faves.

Real quick to some people who are a little confused about how mk1 would happen both Shang tsung and lui kang won but in different places/timelines I think it’s kinda confusing
For your question about Kano at the end, I counts as one death. The two Kanos are literally the exact same, except that one was brought back from the past. The same way earlier in the game, Young cage gets shot in the face, but both him and present Cage gets a scar on the cheek.
Many characters have died at some point but their death was later retconned. Example: Goro dies in MK1 (his death is clearly mentioned in MK2 ) but it was later changed to "wounded but alive" in MK4.
All the pre OG MK tournament deaths should not be counted again, since Raiden sent the message to his past self when he was at the tournament in MK9 so Sindel, Onaga and Scorpion have 1 less death. Also past Kung Lao didn't die during Aftermath, because if that happened, his revenant would have disappeared (like Kano)
Mortal Kombat players: "How many times characters gonna die come back again and die and come back again? How many times this series is getting retconned?" Mortal Kombat Devs: YES
I think we now need a video of who killed named characters how many times. Yes, I guess that Sindel will be in first place here too, but I still wonder who has how many corpses on his hands)
Goro was killed a third time. His first death happened between MK4 and Deadly Alliance. Kitana formed an alliance with Goro and used their combined forces to march against Shao Kahn in order to free Edenia. They were able to win due to Quan Chi and Shang Tsung killing the cloned Shao Kahn, but Goro dies in this war. We find this out from Kitana's opening bio in Deadly Alliance.
I'm pretty sure Bi-Han didn't actually DIE to become Noob Saibot in Khaos Reigns. I think Havik just used some magicky stuffs to corrupt him, but he seems to have lived.
Lmfao you were in the middle of saying "there's some pretty heavy hitters you wouldn't expect" while starting to talk about 4 deaths and all I could think of was Lui Kang and the fact you immediately brought him up, I fucking screamed 😂😂😂
I'm looking at the thumbnail characters, and on the top of my head, they all died 3 times in total throughout the whole franchise, except Jade, who died twice only.
Kung Lao feeling being a a pain in the neck that he will outshine Sindel in the most Death in Mortal Kombat. One could say that Sindel breathe down Kung Lao's neck.
Unrelated, but i hate that they called the newest MK game Mortal Kombat 1, because now when i want to refer to the first game and instinctively say MK1, i then have to clarify that it's the first mortal kombat and not the one released after MK11
Btw u forgot to mention that Mavado died in MK1 aswell in Takeda's arcade ending. In which all characters ending in MK1 (except for the guests ofc) are canon.
Day one of asking. Ranking all MK characters that have only been playable in one game so far. (Armagedon dosent count if the list becomes way to short)
I can’t think of many that have been playable only once. Ferra/Torr is the only one off the top of my head and I suppose Tremor unless your counting Kameos
I really wouldn't count Havik. Being a chaoseealmer, death really means nothing to him. He'd just pop back up in Chaosrealm like, "Well, that was fun. Who's for chinese?" Also, I wouldn't really use info from the MKX and MK11intros as Canon. The writers themselves said that they weren't. Same case for the MKX comics as well.
Kronika technically dies an infinite amount of times since each other timeline shown in MK1 (which seems to be an infinite amount) has a titan of some other character who defeated and killed Kronika to take her hourglass, this also makes every arcade ending in MK11 canon to some degree. Also, old and young Kano should count as only 1 death since they're technically the same exact person, just at different times in life
As a huge, long-time Sindel fan, I know I can always expect her to die whenever she's on screen. I already know she gonna end up dying at least once in the upcoming movie lmao
Sindel is only 5.she didn't died a second time between Armageddon and the start of MK9. It's literally the same death as her original mk3 story. The timeline after armageddon was only altered after the events of the first tournament. Everything before that was the same. So it's the same death. And it's canon now that it was Quan Chi doing. Also revenant Liu Kang and Kitana didn't die... They literally can't unless their past selves died. Which Kitana's didn't at least.
There's an innacuracy at least with Shao Kahn he's died at least three times twice in MK9 (he was resurrected by Quan Chi) and in MK11 Aftermath maybe same case with Resurrection in the original timeline as well but it was a clone in the opening scene of Deadly Alliance so it should technically count too maybe
Everything I’ve read said Quan Chi “healed” Shao Kahn in MK9 rather than saying revived, so I took that as not a death but I can see the argument against that idea.
To be fair if I wrote mk9 his death wouldn't be permanent his back up plan allowed him to return which would have him use his magic Powers to allow him to have a backup soul puting it into onagas possessed egg with his essences creating the exact same body making him even more powerful by obsorbing onaga and all the souls of his previous form and mk11 aftermath he would have killed Shang shung and killed kronika only to lose against lui Kang
Li Mei and Frost are in a weird spot, I guess, because Deadly Alliance had arcade endings that are mostly canonical. Li Mei gets sacrificed, returns corrupted, and then dies in Armageddon (like, right at the start, jeez). Frost is frozen by the amulet, but it's flimsy whether this is outright death or... hibernation(?), but in 11 her brain gets fried to shut down the rest of the cyber Lin Kuei, so... 3-ish deaths. It's weird like that.
Li Mei didn’t get sacrificed. Bo’ Rai Cho saves her but she was corrupted by the process so she didn’t actually die at all here. I’d also count Frost getting frozen in DA by the amulet and in Deception by Subzero as deaths
I think Hsu Hao only died 3 times in MK history. 1. In his character ending in MK Deadly Alliance. He got unalived by Jax. How sad. 😂 2. In the comics that take place between MK9 going up to MKX. When the Red Dragon learned of Kenshi pursuing them, Daegon sent Hsu Hao to kill Kenshi and he was almost successful...until Scorpion pulled up on him and unalived him. 😂 3. Off screen before the events of MK11. In one of Erron Black's intros, he walks out with Hsu Hao's head in a bag and ironically, this intro is named "A Day's Work", meaning he killed Hsu Hao in less than 24 hours. 😂
Now with Khaos Reigns, Reiko, Li Mei, Rain and Kuai Liang get an extra death, Bi-Han doesnt die to become Noob Saibot but he does kill another version of himself
Just saw the "movie" today. MK1 history was OK, but this Khaos expansion was BAD, like REALLY BAD. CRAZY BAD. I kinda like the idea of realities with some characters in strange situations, as Lt. Coronel Jonathan Cage from WW II or Rain/Tanya rulers of some empire. But that's it, all rest was simply crap. Cyrax, Sektor, even the new not-killed Bi-Han Noob Saibot. They just suck
@@icm1813 I still dont know what the point of the Rain/Tanya part was, I know it was just there bc Rain and Tanya didnt get a chapter in the original story but they could've just not been there and it would've been fine

It would still be 5 if we didn’t count the soulnado because the ending of his MK1 Invasion season shows Ermac killing him.
@@PizzaMan879 those are not canon
Bro the sound effects are awesome. Nice work!
bi-han has only died 4 since in the soulnado thing he did not die
mk11: “you were killed, swallowed in a storm of souls”
“quan chi’s creations do not die easily”
he did not die since he was there for that fight
Yeah that seems to be a common callout!
Kano also died in MK3. Sonya threw him off a tall building. Her dialogue with Jarek proves this. "The Black Dragon died with Kano, you're the last one Jarek"
The Deadly Alliance Konquest mode reveals he survived
In Armageddon Onaga did take Shao Kahn, probably put him somewhere, and then Shao Kahn kills him.
I guess, but how did he make it back to the Pyramid to kill Blaze lol
@@FAiRWAYx Probably offscreen. He made it back while the battle was going on.
Dude he walked.. a nice stroll while everyone else still bleeds.. his fast healing has a minute.
I really love your content, especially this video I really enjoy the extra effort for sound effects and visuals it gives the video a lot more personality and life to it when in reality it could just be a boring monotone list.
Thanks, man! My voice is pretty monotone in general, so I try to spice it up with the edits. Thank you for watching!
EDIT: this is incorrect information:
Scorpion actually died 6 times. He died in deadly alliance when he was thrown into the soul-nado. He was then brought back by the elder gods
No he didn't.
@@IzraelGraves yeah he did. His body got torn apart by the soul-nado since he’s a hellspawn and could not withstand the purity of the soul-nado
He survived it
@@Rmcrace2319No, he escaped into the void.
Apologies. I had incorrect information. That you guys for correcting me!
He shuts down but I don’t take that as a death personally
sindel killing all champions of earthrealm in mk9 was the most insane thing in whole universe. Like Kuai Liang won against both goro and kintaro and got knocked out by an uppercut lol
I know right? Lmao
Scorpion's count is actually a lot higher:
Midway timeline
- Dies to Bi-Han as a human in MKM:SZ.
Netherrealm timeline:
- Same two deaths to Bi-Han in MKM:SZ, since events only start to differ at MK1 tournament.
She kinda bad tho, is that frost?
😂
😂
Bi-Han didn't die in the soulnado. In MK11 dialogue against himself, he said, "The Soulnado made us stronger"
I would have thought that Cage would have died many more times in the early days due to Ed Boon being angry, at the time, at Cage's actor for being in a different fighting game posing as a variation of Cage.
well, death in mk nothing means, characters may die around 666 times and still feel fine
You're not wrong

NOBODY LIKES D'VORAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like her concept but killing Baraka, Mileena, and Scorpion is INSANE
I like dvorah
@lawrenceking1618 same, I honestly used to hate her all because she killed Mileena in X, but over time, especially in 11, D'Vorah had earned my forgiveness and became my faves.
@@FAiRWAYxShe's a C-tier villain that tried to make her appear more special than what she was actually worth.
Her killing off Baraka or Mileena is fine, but having ALL THREE? Nah. Someone at NRS must really love bugs or her character so badly that she got this heavy body count. If she ever comes back, just have someone give her a purpose to The Kytinn instead of poisonous bug lady.
@@codyman5540 it’s a lose lose because she either does something impactful and people roast the character or she gets jobbed out and people roast the character. I like the design but killing Scorpion and her not dying a single time was definitely a decision.
Great video bro I love your mortal kombat rankings

this editing is 🔥
Thanks bro!
@0:26:35
For those that wonder how did Erron black get Hsu Hao’s head….. the one we play as is actual the younger Erron Black because (present) Hus Hao was dead by the hand of Scorpion
Take a shot every time he says Armageddon
You'll, uh...
you'll be dead
3:08 I knew you were gonna put that there
Lmao
You should do a Tear list on Fatalities
What a w video!😊
Thanks brother!
I find it crazy how Kano, a bad guy, and a lesser bad guy at that, hasn't died more times. And his death is pretty much a fluke anyway 😂
Yeah I think it’s fits into his character where he kind of just goes with whatever keeps him alive lmao
Reptile didn't die in Deadly Alliance, just got possessed
you should make a video on every fatalaty that canonicaly happened
Good idea!
@@FAiRWAYx thanks. like for example in battle of armageddon we se baraka has been split in half (pretty sure it was by kung lao) so that kung lao split fatalaty canonicaly happened. also if your censoring them please censor them like in the way you did in the anamalaty teir list by just making the screen black and white for a moment
Sindel must love being the Kenny of Mortal Kombat.
Lmfao
Real quick to some people who are a little confused about how mk1 would happen both Shang tsung and lui kang won but in different places/timelines I think it’s kinda confusing
34:00 I actually shed a tear when I first played this game
Nightwolf sacrificing himself still remains the most epic moment in mortal kombat history
Such a great scene man
For your question about Kano at the end, I counts as one death. The two Kanos are literally the exact same, except that one was brought back from the past. The same way earlier in the game, Young cage gets shot in the face, but both him and present Cage gets a scar on the cheek.
Yeah that makes sense
Shao also got donut'ed by liu kang in 9, but was resurected
He doesn’t say he died, though, just that Quan Chi “accelerated his recovery”
Many characters have died at some point but their death was later retconned. Example: Goro dies in MK1 (his death is clearly mentioned in MK2 ) but it was later changed to "wounded but alive" in MK4.
Yeah it’s problematic and makes it difficult to figure out what’s real and not real
I feel like it’s implied that past Kung Lao would eventually die as a result of the Sea of Blood
@@FAiRWAYxcouldn’t he just swim up though?
I think that Dark Khan's death from Shang Tsung and Quan Chi in MK1 should count as one of Shao's deaths, making it three.
Mortal Kombat players: "How many times characters gonna die come back again and die and come back again? How many times this series is getting retconned?"
Mortal Kombat Devs: YES
I think we now need a video of who killed named characters how many times. Yes, I guess that Sindel will be in first place here too, but I still wonder who has how many corpses on his hands)
Goro was killed a third time. His first death happened between MK4 and Deadly Alliance. Kitana formed an alliance with Goro and used their combined forces to march against Shao Kahn in order to free Edenia. They were able to win due to Quan Chi and Shang Tsung killing the cloned Shao Kahn, but Goro dies in this war. We find this out from Kitana's opening bio in Deadly Alliance.
If soul stealing counts as killing , Liu has one more death to himself in the main mk11 story
Lmao I didn’t even think of that
He didn’t steal all of his soul though because he would’ve erased his revanant self if that were the case
I'm pretty sure Bi-Han didn't actually DIE to become Noob Saibot in Khaos Reigns. I think Havik just used some magicky stuffs to corrupt him, but he seems to have lived.
Now you need to do a kill count list video :)
I agree!
Lmfao you were in the middle of saying "there's some pretty heavy hitters you wouldn't expect" while starting to talk about 4 deaths and all I could think of was Lui Kang and the fact you immediately brought him up, I fucking screamed 😂😂😂
I never noticed that detail of Quan-chi escaping the blast in Deception and surviving 😮.
Yeah it’s such a small detail!
About Sonya killing past Kano to erase present Kano it's a one shot DOUBLE KILL
Fair lol
I'm looking at the thumbnail characters, and on the top of my head, they all died 3 times in total throughout the whole franchise, except Jade, who died twice only.
Jade had 3 if you count revenants
@@FAiRWAYx yeah as I watched the video, I saw fhat
Kung Lao feeling being a a pain in the neck that he will outshine Sindel in the most Death in Mortal Kombat. One could say that Sindel breathe down Kung Lao's neck.
Kronika canonically was killed by every mortal kombat character present after the mk9 reboot
Howdy broski, it's been a while! How's it going?
Also, I am curious, which characters have zero deaths?
Let me get back to you on that 🫡
@@FAiRWAYx also, where's Ermac?
Sonya Blades death in MK 11 was the opening of the damn game! And it actually made me cry!
Kung lao somehow didn’t die in the sea of blood , because if he died his revenant would died immediately , kronika explained that
Right but my thought process was that he would die eventually since you can still live while in the Sea of Blood but he would eventually drown
Worth noting the intro dialogues aren't canon to the story.
Some are definitely canon, though.
18:52 Motaro's MK9 death will always be peak comedy LOL
LMAO. Raiden does his yell and just smashes him through the bridge 😂😂
If I remember correctly, Kano was killed in MK3, but got resurrected for MK:DA and Armageddon. So...he should be on the "Died 4 times" tier.
His rooftop fall didn’t kill him, shockingly. Deadly Alliance reveals that he survived. Motaro then healed him and imprisoned him.
Unrelated, but i hate that they called the newest MK game Mortal Kombat 1, because now when i want to refer to the first game and instinctively say MK1, i then have to clarify that it's the first mortal kombat and not the one released after MK11
It’s annoying. I just call the actual first game OG MK or something lol
Cool video, but you forgot to mention Jade’s 4th death in Shaolin Monks where Liu Kang ( or Kung Lao) stabs her in the eyes with Mileena’s Sais.
Shaolin monks is not Canon though
The fact Kung Lao's revenant was still there means past Kung Lao survived the sea
I was operating under the impression that he’d eventually succumb to the sea of blood
Who's for chinese?"
Also, I wouldn't really use info from the MKX and MK11intros as Canon. The writers themselves said that they weren't. Same case for the MKX comics as well.
Some intros definitely have canonical implications, though, which makes videos like these fun and challenging at the same time
Kronika technically dies an infinite amount of times since each other timeline shown in MK1 (which seems to be an infinite amount) has a titan of some other character who defeated and killed Kronika to take her hourglass, this also makes every arcade ending in MK11 canon to some degree.
Also, old and young Kano should count as only 1 death since they're technically the same exact person, just at different times in life
Could be an interesting concept to try and come up with a number for Kronika’s deaths lol
Here’s a fun idea, take a shot every time he says “The Battle of Armageddon.”
Enjoy!
As a huge, long-time Sindel fan, I know I can always expect her to die whenever she's on screen. I already know she gonna end up dying at least once in the upcoming movie lmao
Easiest prediction tbh
Take a shot every time "The Battle of Armageddon" is mentioned.
RIP your liver
Sindel is only 5.she didn't died a second time between Armageddon and the start of MK9. It's literally the same death as her original mk3 story. The timeline after armageddon was only altered after the events of the first tournament. Everything before that was the same. So it's the same death. And it's canon now that it was Quan Chi doing. Also revenant Liu Kang and Kitana didn't die... They literally can't unless their past selves died. Which Kitana's didn't at least.
How is it the same if Quan Chi killed her in the MK9 timeline?
Time is a ripple, even if it happens in the future, the past could also alter.
Fujin died 3 times, because he also died in MK: Mythologies Sub Zero
I think Liu Kang died during aftermath twice. You mentioned the one were Shang Tsung takes his soul, but I think past liu kang died against Shao Kahn
@@omarslayz was going off the dome on it. thanks for clearing it up.
I remember Kenshi having 2 deaths. Armageddon and the MK11 Krypt where you get his headband to get secret chests
Yeah the MK11 is not considered canon so I left it out
I think Hsu Hao only died 3 times in MK history.
1. In his character ending in MK Deadly Alliance. He got unalived by Jax. How sad. 😂
2. In the comics that take place between MK9 going up to MKX. When the Red Dragon learned of Kenshi pursuing them, Daegon sent Hsu Hao to kill Kenshi and he was almost successful...until Scorpion pulled up on him and unalived him. 😂
@@tobi2960Nah let them be there nothing wrong with that in fact they were the best parts
You could make an argument for Kung Lao surviving the sea of blood, otherwise his revenant self would’ve ceased to exist long before Shang Tsung could’ve gotten to the keep
My thought was he would eventually die while in the Sea of Blood since that’s how the Sea of Blood works
The MK series did Kung Lao so dirty. He's like the Luigi of MK.
