Excellent, independent, but still in the line/ contrasting with other, "Late in life artists," thank you!
I'm never a fan of abstract expressionism, but De Kooning's painting is really stunning

art is so superficial it's awesome.
Good
1:33 And this is great art for what reasons exactly? I know that sounds like a dick comment but I genuinely would like to know what I'm missing.
When I look at this painting I first notice the awesome, sophisticated techniques used (and with it all the different textures), a fantastic color arrangement (reminds me of a scene on a sci fi planet) and the dimensionality of the composition. I have tried to paint abstractly, and have failed miserably to produce something "new". That really makes me appreciate how much skill and artistic imagination it takes to do something like that. The value of the painting is perhaps also in the fact that it makes a lot of people feel things.
For example I, looking at it, felt detached from the world in a happy, careless way.
So the two reasons it's great art are because the painting creates an interesting, uncommon visual experience (that may or may not carry emotions with it) and because it took a lot of skill to do. There is a series here on youtube ("how to paint like de Kooning") that might show some of the techniques used. Now, that's just how I relate to the painting, and if you don't think that my reasons for liking it are valid for you, I do not aim to convince you that it's good. But you seem genuinely interested in a different oppinion, so there you go :-).
@esejsnake1503 my art is better
