Thanks to the extreme scrutiny Islamic tradition faces in the postmodern era, I am starting to develop deep respect for the early Islamic scholars for their honesty, integrity and mastery of the subject matters.

Here are the 7 reasons from the lost portion. Found them in the description of this video on Dr. Yasir Qadhi's channel.
    The 7 reasons:
We go with Version 1 and not Versions 2 and 3 for the following 7 reasons:
    1. Claiming that Iblis can inspire RasulAllah sall Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam (even though iT explained it in a way) interferes with the process of wahy and Allah has guaranteed the process of wahy in SO MANY verses. It would argue that the revelation was not falsified and here we know what is true from what is false
    2. There is no authentic version of the qisaat'l-gharaneek. Every version in Tabari and Wahadi is weak and none goes back to RasulAllah sAaws. The strongest goes back to a tabi'i. Even ibn Hajar and ibn Taymiyyah admit this.
    3. Even if we forget the isnad analysis, look at the story itself: there are so many versions of it. Another version is that RasulAllah sAaws was sleepy and he messed up. Another version says that RasulAllah sAaws was in salah at the ka'bah when reciting. And another version says that he was sitting in the gathering, reciting.
    4. No authentic book of hadith mentions this incident - not even ibn Hisham and ibn Ishaq (the authentic books of seerah). They are found in the tertiary sources.
    5. (This point is the biggest for YQ!) Contextual analysis of the verses. Verses 19-20 show that what will follow will be criticism because of the istifham qaari (derogatory questioning). Even in English, you do not speak like this when speaking of something to be honoured. Then comes the verse after ("unjust division"). If the satanic verses are inserted, the story makes no sense. From criticism to praise to criticism, it doesn't work linguistically or contextually!
    6. (Pointed out by Muhammad Abdu - mufti of Egypt d. 1905 CE) Even linguistically it makes no sense because the word gharaneek has never been used in pre-Islamic poetry to refer to the idols. This would be the only time it is found - in this story. If Shaytaan really wanted to fool the pagans, he would choose a word that they recognized.
    7. We have the authentic story of Bukhaari with a good enough explanation and the power of the Qur'an and everything makes sense. Why would we resort to the Satanic Verses? Ibn Abbas radhi Allahu anh said the power of the surah was so much that the Muslims, mushriks, jinn, and ins all prostrated except one man raising dirt to his forehead (Waleed b. Mugheerah or Umayya b. Khalaf).
Modern researcher as to where this story came from:
Even legends have a basis. There is a modern historian who theorizes that when the Quraysh prostrated, they felt embarrassed they had become so emotional. As a result, they said the reason they did this was because RasulAllah sall Allahu 'alayhi wa sallam had agreed to praise their idols.
Sadly, we cannot find a classic reasoning. It is reality that the tabi'oon narrated it, but none of the Companions mentioned it.
    Q&A
    1. How could iT say that shaytaan created or managed to come forth with some qur'an? Nobody would say he was successful in that attempt. Realize that a lot of people have attempted to fabricate qur'an (e.g. Musaylimah) and have never succeeded.
    2. According to version 3, Shaytaan added while Jibril was paused in revelation.
Shaykh Yasir Qadhi gives a detailed analysis of the life of Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) from the original sources.

Regarding point number 7. From my understanding, and this is my humble opinion.
It wouldn't make sense for the 2 verses to be added and that one person to not prostate.
If that was the case, why did he not prostrate if the 2 verses were added

    • @godakuri5944
      @godakuri5944 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Denzo Dridz it doesn't make sense for the version 2 and 3 to even be considered. Because when they all prostated, 1 person didn't.
If either version 2 or 3 happened, he would prostate instead of grabbing sand and placing it in his forehead

    • @godakuri5944
      @godakuri5944 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@Denzo Dridz if you watched the video, Dr. Yasir was talking about the incident where the prophet Muhammad (pbuh) recited a Surah and all of the people fell into prostration, Muslim, and non muslim, except one person, and he was from the non muslims
And there are 3 versions to this story as to why everyone fell into protration
Version 1 which is the authetic
Version 2 and 3 are not authentic, but creates a lot of problems because at the end of the day, this are reports found in our scriptures
And I explained that version 2 and 3 don't seem to be true because if it occured, it wouldn't make sense for that 1 person to not prostrate

even if version 3 is correct (which i'm not saying it is) it proves that the revelation is pure and protected, because even when satan allegedly tried to change it Allah protected his revelation and corrected the prophet (peace be upon him).
which means that if the revelation was changed or tampered with in any way Allah would have corrected it just like he did with this incident.

I appreciated academic dedication. Doctrine of "abrogation" complicates matter even more. What about if discrepancy was never pointed out & Shatan attempt had not been spotted? The theological dimension is that the daughter of Allah were already in the ME pantheon... & moon divinity is still there.
The Qumran manuscript showed how reliable is the TANAK. It is amazing that a late prophet should become the criteria to judge the Bible and revise it. The all matter doesn't smell divinely kosher.

The Sheikh and Ibn Taymiyya say that they can explain away version 3 because Allah protects the revelation and because it is clear today what is revelation and what is innovation. I wonder though, this is their perspective and they are secure in their faith. What about all the people who heard this story and left the faith because of it, or the possible converts who are turned away from the faith? Also, if it did happen, how is there NO mention of it from the Quraysh, or the munafiqeen? An incident where the prophet was so intimately affected by Iblis would surely have been mentioned more, the topic of the devil is simply too popular. Look at every other encounter with Iblis or a Shyatin mentioned in the Seerah and the sheer number of references to it in other Hadith. Iblis interfering with Wahi, even if corrected by Allah immediately, is too significant an event for there to be no further discussion of it by the Prophet, the Sahaba or follow up questions about the incident in the years of expansion during the four caliphs. As mentioned by the Sheikh, Zeinab is a controversial story as well, and there are many references to that incident during the life of the prophet and after; if that one is discussed, how could the Satanic Verses be absent?

Thanks, this means the story is fabricated and I do not understand why our sheikh elaborates this fabricated story as it is pointless. If it were so significant it should have been pointed out by Shaba or Caliph. What is the point being truth? Well is it Ibn Taymiah explanation? Again all ulama has discarded in Egypt conference the version 2 an 3 (version 1 which is 100 percent correct). People of non-believer to Islam, if this is the only reason not to consider Al-Quraan is pure, let them be in their situation. As Allah has said Revelation is pure and it has arrived as pure. Now people who say Prophet are human, so as Ibn Taymiah is a human. I would accept Ibn Taymiah can do wrong as a human. I will reject Ibn Taymiah's opinion which is a better and strongest position. Even though he is great scholar, but He is human, he can do wrong. But our prophet (PBH) cannot do wrong and cannot be fooled by Saitan. Other human can be fooled by saitan.

It is not a small incident, it's huge. According to the Law of Moses, Mohammad should have been stoned.
If you read the sources, it talks about how Satan disguised himself as "white Gabriel" (because in Islam Satan is black) and Mohammed didn't realize at all that it wasn't the regular Gabriel, until supposedly Gabriel came and told him. (Version 3).
The reason why you reject the story, is because you assume the conclusion that Islam is true. I myself (not a Muslim) thought that is was a fabrication, until I actually read the sources and it's clear that they story was there since the beginning of Islam.

That is correct. I have mentioned this, Scholars are human, they do error in their analysis and prove that they are Human. Neither the process of Revelation nor the Prophet (Pbuh) is interfered by Iblis. Allah (SWT) has guaranteed in many places in Quraan. In general logic, Al-Quraan is the only book for humanity was sent by Allah for humanity, for what? It is to protect Humankind from the Great Iblis. How it is possible that Iblis can go over Allah about this? So answer is Iblis can never interfere in the process of Revelation. So sheikh and Ibn Taimylah's analysis on version 3 are just illogical and does not follow the whole purpose of Al-Qurran and contradictory. So shall be rejected.

By studying tafsir Iyadh Ibn Ashur "Alta7rir w altanwir" tafsir which was considered one of the best, we can understand that the verse 22:52 spoke of the prophets and messengers. And we know that only prophets carry new books. So the word "tamana" can not been understood by "recite" but "wish". This verse means that all the messengers of God wish and call for the guidance of the people. Satan throws "wol9i" in the heart of people doubt and charges concerning the message of God...

  • @shamsulhuda8105
    @shamsulhuda8105 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Someone can have a thinking skill and research skill, but no one is perfect. The whole point of this analysis in the video : is being truth and Sheikh has mentioned he is trying to be truth about our history. What is the point of being truth and elaborate it for creating confusion more if the problem is already solved? Allah has said Al- Quraan is pure and has arrived pure, so how can Iblis can interfere? Interference of Iblis (saitan) would be the most significant event , at the time of 4 Caliph and at the time of our prophet. How come there is no other reference in Hadith book about this event, just only one reference?
If the version-2 and 3 are found later, then these are fabricated. If human does error, why not consider Ibn-taimilah is a human and he can do error in his analysis, even though he is a big scholar, but he is not the greatest man. Our prophet is the greatest man and cannot do error. If the discussion is for non-believer to Islam, then let them know the true message which is version-1 and which is in Al-Quran. If they believe it , they are believer. If they do not, no one is asking by force to believe it. That is the analysis. To agree Ibn Taimiah is a great scholar and be consistent with it, we indirectly pose something on revelation, which is 100 percent wrong. There is lot of science which has been mentioned in Al-Quraan and human still could not discover it. This is beyond of human knowledge. For example, there are 7 heavens and we do not see it. But this is science in Quraan and 100 percent correct and we cannot explain this. Some verses of al-Quraan are like this. Why we pose more question to those and try explain. Many scholar prove themselve by doing so and again prove that they are human, so they do error and that's why after their death, their comments and analysis get lost. That's SAllh's decission. What is long lasting and everlasting: That-is Al-Quraan, as this is the only True knowledge and Allah will keep that is protected. So pointless explanation does not give any benefit. I have heard many videos of thsi Sheikh. Many of them are very good. Like Ibn Taymiah, Sheikh is human, so not error-free. My comment here is: to be truthful for unnecessary things, is not a requirement to be truthful. Now someone is trying to prove Sun rises in the east. What is the point here to discuss about sun rise in the east.

God refutes these "shoubouhat" through his messengers and revelation. Moreover, the verse was revealed well posteriori after "Surat Alnajm" So this verse can not be an argument for the other two versions mentioned. So none of these versions has a Quranic basis or in the Sunnah. Ibn Taymiyya is not the Prophet and the Prophet Muhammad pbuh has never mentioned this incident (authentic hadith).

Its seems that everything Mohammed wanted... Allah was ready to declare Halal.
Same happened with women and children of Jews of Yathrib.
Ethics seems very gullible and unilateral.
What about if Jewish leaders of Yathrib had good reasons not to accept new prophets inconsistent with their past prophets?

a Rabbi(Abdullah Ibn Salam) in Madeenah confirmed the prophethood by asking some questions(the answers will only be known to a prophet if God). what is the first sign of the hour?, what is the first meal that the dwellers of paradise would eat?, Why is it that the child sometimes resembles his father and other times his mother? the answers were revealed to him by Jibreel before that.

A Quranic verse was sent down to Muhammad concerning his blunder during recitation. This is proof that the Satanic verses did take place.
    [22:52]
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding]. But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.

No its not. This ayah has its own context and reason for revelation. It has nothin to do with the satanic verses. The satanic verses story doesn't stand up to scrutiny and logic

sourate hajj was sent 8to 9 years after the so called incident and read the rest of the surah you'll understand better and why it doesn't add up because in this exact verse that you used in arabic allah uses the word fa which means immediately when talking about abolishing the devils work , thus if we take this logic it would mean that for 8to9 years muslims were praising those idols but allah says fa which again means immediately so not really coherent

    Janaab Dr Yasir Qadhi
    Assalam wa Alaikum
I appreciate your concluding comments of your own Ijtihad.
Leave version 2 and 3, I will not even go with version 1 with Bukhari’s reference. I am not a rejector of Hadith but a moderate believer.
I have arrived at a conclusion after my little study and understanding that
    1. Khabar e Wahid is a grey area inspite of a unique science of Hadith.
    2. One must first study Quran before Hadith.
    3. Only Hadith on ahkam/moral/character building and fiqh nature Hadith should be believed that too if in harmony with Quran.
There is one more sensitive issue severe than the subject in this video, and that is about repealed verses in Quran.
To me there is none mansookh or repealed Ayat in Quran.
It is given to understand that the number has reduced from 500 to 5 from Imam Suyuti down the line to Shah Waliullah.
I have so far not come across any video from your side dealing with this subject.
We Muslims in fact paving the way for non believers and agnostics to attack on ISLAM due to wrong material available in ancient works of those famous scholars. It is easy for enemies to do so in scientifically exploded world. I therefore request you to handle this topic on social media. Thanks

@Kate Boulus shame on you you have no class in the question that you asked regardless if this is a prophet or just any man why would you ask a question like that? What a shame what has become of people especially women who have a mouth like yours. Women are suppose to be women who have honor and respect and when you have that you will get it in return. I feel sorry for you on the day of judgement.
